Hello!

I'm new here and I'm creating this post in hopes of getting some titles of books that have helped transform you into who you are today. I know I need to shift my mind to think as a shark and no longer a guppy. I appreciate all the helpful suggestions in advance!

The millionaire fastlane . I'm sure you've read it, but it's a really important book. Probably the second most helpful book for me because it talks a lot on the process of getting to the fastlane and what commandments you need to follow to get there. It's not going to tell you what business to start, but if you have a few ideas, you can refer to the book and see which ones are a wise avenue to explore based on the commandments (CENTS). We rave about this book because you really don't have to read a bunch of other books to put all the pieces of the puzzle together to get started.

Once I found the avenue I wanted to explore, I bought a book on marketing and sales specifically for that type of business. That book is worth its weight in gold, and is what has helped me the most in my ventures. This gets me in front of clients though, it doesn't always land the sale.

Next to marketing is communication.. When I'm in front of a client, how I want to present myself is really important. Whether it be correcting a mistake, telling someone a job is going to cost $10k more than what I originally told them, or making a great first impression and building a strong relationship. I feel this is an area a lot of people could improve on, so many people have great services/products, but how the present themselves/their product makes them lose so many sales.

So I read the book "how to win friends and influence people". That book has a lot of important notes that I abide by in my business and it helped me form strong relationships with my clients and if I mess up or if I have to deliver bad news to them, I can do so without negatively affecting our relationship.

If you want to change your mindset to think bigger, I'd advise reading biographies. Art of the deal (trump), ben franklin, walt disney, etc. You can read their thought process and get a glimpse into the mind of legendary people.

Thank you for your advice! I have read TMF and that is what brought me here! I will definitely read all recommendations you have made! Communication is an area that's in need of a lot of work for me. I've been looking into joining a toastmasters group near me to help with that. Much appreciate the feedback!

I love books with messages and I do read them but I'm also learning that all of life's answers are within. We all have the answers to life's questions.

I totally agree with you! Sometimes books help lead me to my own insights, which is the purpose of this thread, to help find books that will lead to those insights! Thank you for your input!

Chances are you don't have the answers. Unless you own a church - more often than not, getting spiritual with yourself doesn't help business. The reason I read books is to avoid mistakes that others have made and learn from them instead of letting my soul guide me. I certainly wouldn't consult it for financial advice before Warren Buffett.

I'm going to assume since you're here that you've already read MJ's book , so I'll list some that have heavily influenced myself/the successful people in my network.

Anthony Robbins - Awaken the Giant Within
Grant Cardone - Be Obsessed or be average
Anything by Napoleon Hill - I really enjoyed "Think and Grow Rich"
Felix Dennis - How to get Rich
Cal Newport - So good they can't ignore you
Tim Ferriss - Tools of Titans

Books only go so far. Real confidence is gained when you take a step regardless of size to meaningful action.

Thank you for the suggestions I will look into them all! Yes I agree books only go so far, I'm just wanting to create a list to keep myself actively reading useful information! Books aren't the only piece to my plan [emoji6]

Often times...we try to adopt someone else's narrative and apply it to our own lives. It doesn't work like that. One has to write their own narrative. Reading Buffett's books will not make you a Buffett, nor will it make you a success to a large degree. He's an outlier. If I want to build rockets, yes! I must read manuals on rocket science. That's not exactly the same as "advice" books. And...didn't you just start a thread about not relying on books? I'm confused now. Lol.

Hello!

titles of books that have helped transform you into who you are today.

what do you mean by " the way we are today" ?

business ?

success ?

understanding of life ?

you see, nobody arround me can connect to my understanding of life because nobody reads what i read

people are talking about working, partying , holidays, sex , TV

while i am working on the improvement of my life through esoterism , metaphysics and so on

when you reach this level, you won't connect to people's average life anymore because they can't understand you.

this is like talking to monkeys in the zoo, with all respect for humanity. i am not kidding. i am serious

this is a new reality.

you are part of the minority of masters.

Reading Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl was great for me, it teaches you the importance of how you look at suffering.
Giving up the short term for long term fulfillment (what the fastlane forum also teaches) is the real deal for changing your mindset. I don't think you can learn to think big other than changing your environment and just start executing.

Just any book that has helped you take a step to bettering yourself as a whole, I suppose. Bettering yourself in business. In success. In understanding life. Books that helped you fit pieces that were missing into your equation. I know books don't hold all the answers. I know books are the key to solving who I am. I am simply wanting to compile a list of books that have inspired others or had helpful tips. Hell, I didn't pick up TMF thinking it would open a door like it did into an entirely new lifestyle I am working towards for myself. You never know what a book will do for someone and I love to read to I'd just like a list of books that like minded people have read and found value in.
Thank you for your input!

Tough one, but well worth your time. Choose the audiobook if you can - Grant adds more energy with his crazy speech style and throws in some additional examples. It is one of the guys that prove the author should read the audiobook.

I see what you're saying. I did say a few times already that I have read many books. The message in the thread was that the books will never get you to the wealth. They are helpful to an extent (learning) but it doesn't help you with (doing).

so instead of giving you dozens of books to read, i will give you a hint

MJ DeMarco's books are about being different and shifting points of view

that's why we are here : we are not the masses with the boring lives

so you had better have an original mind

wich means searching for the best things for your life

look at the chart below

this is a good metaphor

you had better be in the green zone : a master

i call masters the game changers ( you , people here )

i call pawns the boring masses ( monkeys in yellow and red zone )

my favorites authors : MJ DeMarco and Jay Abraham, Eben Pagan.

by the way, Jay is giving away a book on shifting mindset :

http://abraham-pop.s3.amazonaws.com/GettingEverythingNew.pdf

these people are pioneers of shifting mindset

and you can transfer this mindset to other areas of your life

for example after reading those books, i said to myself " how can i apply this to social situations ? "

then i went to bars and clubs and said to girls something they wouldn't expect in a million years

" hi, can you please reject me ? " and i really couldn't care less what they would say

this is totaly creative and innovative and counter intuitive

the girls were so shocked that nobody rejected me :

WHAT ??????

we had fun talking because nobody behaves like that : original mind

this is the new mindset you must adopt : doing the counter intuitive things to get ahead

Agree with this. Our mind and our thinking is not always lined up with what we are choosing and doing.

Fear is the biggest obstacle. Getting past that comes from within.

society is your playground and you play your game . you are the master of the game

people are here for you to help you test things like actors in a movie

i consider society like a giant movie with actors

" everything is a test " : the most important advice when dealing with people

when i go out to meet women, people in general , i follow the ultimate rule:

he who cares less wins

you can't really know what you can do in life unless you follow this rule

i have done unbelievable things with women and people in the street , bars and so on

just by following the ultimate rule : he who cares less wins

Anything by Napoleon Hill - I really enjoyed "Think and Grow Rich"

+1. His teachings really helped me improve as a person and become a better friend, better colleague and more reliant on myself to make my life what I want it to be.

It also helped me in business and other areas of life.

thanks

by the way, dou you know your MBTI type ?

if you don't care, just ignore this question

if you care, it would be interesting to know it because not all people are fond of self improvement books

we will have a better conversation according to your type.

that's why people can't really connect with everybody in society : there are too much differences in the way of approaching life

as an INTJ, i am often considered a strange guy because i care about important things in life : human evolution and so on

while people just care about the next meal or what's on TV tonight

this is not insulting people, this is just different views on life.

there is a topic on personnality types on this forum

Notable! - What is your personality? Find it out with a quick test!

go here for a quick test

Free personality test | 16Personalities

this takes only a few minutes to have a good idea of your type,

even if this not accurate the first time, you will have the general idea

if you really don't have the same approach of life than most people , as you are saying, you will know

you will be someone with a rational type in my opinion

i am 100 % sure i am a rare type like INTJ

because i have been very different all my life

this is not bragging. this is reality.

and sometimes this is not a good thing because you can't really connect with most people

you are the guy on the top on the mountain while people are partying and doing their human things like ants

Don't let this thread, with some great content, get derailed by the personality type thing. It's only a piece of the puzzle. Does it matter? Sure - does it take or break you? Nope. You can pivot and adjust to your circumstances, but won't have to once you make those circumstances yours.

Now about this thread's title: Resetting the Mind - take a break. Get comfortable with silence, and take a few mindful minutes to figure out what and where you're at. If you can reset the chaos that engulfs each day, and align it with momentarily sync, you're good to go. Read one
of the books before ad after clearing your mind, see what a difference it makes.

Little breaks like that, from 5-30minutes, can change your outlook, perception, and truly quiet your mind with enough practice. Kinda a daily reset. Worst you have to lose by trying is 5 minutes.

Here's a short 9 minute guided one if you'd prefer something like that by Sam Harris: Mindfulness Meditation (9 Minutes)

Thank you for your input! I am currently reading a book called 'True Happiness' and it has a 28 day program along with a cd of guided meditations to help set up a daily habit of meditation. Very excited to see what changes and results occur. I will be sure to update with results!
