Curious, did you write a formal business plan? Or just some notes in a notebook? Or just this thread?

Congrats man! Quick question... what are you doing as far as marketing the product these days? One more... what is your best marketing channel for sales right now?

No business plan. Just this thread. I did write some stuff down on word docs, but nothing extravagent. Everything is just in my head. I just think alot lol. Like about what i want the business to do, and where I want it to go. Constantly thinking about the future. how can i improve. What other channels can i leverage. If its math, then ya, i write that stuff out.

Congrats! I have 51 pages to read now in addition to the other ones I'm getting caught up on.

Sorry if these questions were asked, just say asked if so.

Looked at the page, do you have plans to add products for upsell like a case for the glasses,or a cleaning cloth?

Also, just saw a random topic of shopping cart abandonment. Are you able to track the abandonments and are you doing anything for it.

Thanks again for this thread

Hard shell zip cases, micro fiber cloth bags amd stickers come with the product.

As for upsells. I have new products coming. An Aviator model, another sport frame(V.2), and a Wayfarer. Were also lookomg at Apparel now too.

EDIT

Oh and yes. Shopify shows me all the customer data for abandoned carts. I sens emails to all abandoned carts on a weekly basis with a 10% discount to entice purchase. Which always converts a few.

I suggest writing down your processes for future reference. If/When you decide to hire other people, you'll already have procedures written down instead of having to constantly answer their questions. Also, writing this stuff down will help you find ways to improve it/identify bottlenecks.

Hey Vick,

You're a dog gamn monster man. Been following your thread for a long time.

I looked through your site, which is excellent, landed on the FAQ page and data point for you:

I just read the first 3 questions when I got to this page, which I would guess is common. The answers to questions 2 and 3 are "unfortunately not". Is this common? My gut was like, "well this company knows what customers want but doesn't give it to them". I KNOW THATS NOT TRUE, based on this thread. There has got to be some trade off between guiding the prospect to the yes side of their mind, and also setting expectations so they understand what to expect. I would guess that the FAQ page could be better at this, and probably should be more like a page that makes a sale rather than one that is objective that doesn't tell the customer what to do, and what they WANT to do. Maybe the setting expectations portion should happen when describing the item?

As I am writing this, my thought is its just an FAQ page, but it snagged me and would have kept me from moving forward. Do you find that it is important in your metrics?

Here is a suggestion. If you are finding that people are still asking a lot about ratings and customization etc, maybe you could add a note in the Shop page.

Keep crushing it!

Whoa, haven't checked in this thread in a while.....AWESOME STUFF VIC! Course you don't need our "pats on the back"...I'm sure your reward is seeing how your persistent late nights and early mornings and all sorts of pain and stress etc etc has gotten you to this point, and the possibilities of where you can go from here out. Love the 2 year "overnight success" story :)

I am curious what marketing strategy you are using.....

Sure did! Only two years of persistent a$$ busting action and you too might have something noteworthy.

When you think about it, that's lighting fast. In two years you can own a business that's worth about mid six figures and makes you a very nice salary. A year or two later, it will probably be worth seven figures and make @Vick a millionaire. Two years to transform your entire life. Is that long?

To put it into perspective, average American will spent about NINE YEARS watching TV during his entire life (5 hours a day).

We live in the best times ever. Becoming wealthy has never been easier, if you're only willing to leave the herd behind and forge your own path.

I agree, most people pass on a thousand ideas because they want the one guaranteed to pay off millions tomorrow--which, in turn, causes them to never succeed.

Surely @Vick should have waited and validated and read some more articles and asked some friends who own a business and listened to 103 podcasts before getting started. He wouldn't have wanted to start something that wouldn't become a $3B US business in 6 weeks and just wasted his time on something that has now provided him freedom and a very profitable future......

On the other hand, there is no way he could have done this without a 67 step exact detailed procedure given to him be someone else. No way he could have tried and failed and screwed up and questioned his sanity over a two year 'overnight success' process. Am sure he knew 'exactly' what he was doing at every step and never ventured out into the unknown......

Love ya, @Vick!!! Ode to doing vs talking about it!!

Probably the wrong term. Do you have photos of people wearing your sunglasses on media on your site or in ads? I can't remember who said it at the AZ meetup, but having people in pictures on instagram was very important.
