The pre conception about marriage is that it stifles business and net worth growth, but as a 26 year old man who just recently got married, I feel like its a long term investment with an ROI unlike any other.
I think regardless of wether we guys acknowledge it or not, a huge reason why we’re all chasing riches is largely due to the expanded access in the sexual market. More money and power means hotter girls and more of them.
For me, I wanted it badly - and I wanted it quickly. The urgency I had to get rich quick so that I could attract a quality partner in the shortest amount of time possible pushed me to make stupid mistakes because I could not bring myself to plan long term, fail over years, build slowly for the sake of a long term vision.
But ever since I’ve been married to a girl who i love and respect beyond anything I couldve ever imagined, I found myself genuinely thinking about my goals in decades. I dont mind being patient, working on something that migjt not provide any fruits for multiple years because I no longer need to “get rich quick”
Contrary to the prevailing wisdom in the space - getting married has given me the calm confidence thats born out of the knowledge that I can now outwork, and outskill my competition because I have decades to do it. I can become a genuine asset in a specialized corner of the economy.
This is all contingent on marrying a girl who you are satisfied with though.
Just my two cents.
