what is the best side hustle to start making money immediately?

Anything considered a "hustle" and not necessarily a CENTS-based Fastlane

i want to start a business that can make me some money fast, currently have less than $20-30 dollars to my name.

also want to help my family because both of them lost jobs and i want to help them asap and maybe get them involved in this.

what would you guys recommend?

House cleaning, gardening, landscaping, carpenting, car wash business, general contractor?

honestly i'd think car wash would do pretty well for me since it's winter here and cars are dirty.

but how would you guys look at getting your first customers? door knocking your neighbors, sending out flyers, facebook groups?

thanks!

-Walk 372m north from your exact current Situation.
-Talk to some cute ladies and get their number on the way
-Grab your shovel and start digging while singing a nursery ryhme
-after exactly 28,20530923 seconds, you jump in the air and when you hit the ground, you'll fall through the ground and find the worlds largest Gold, Oil, Yu Gi Oh cards and business idea reserve in the whole world.
-Monetize and enjoy your few bucks to get finally started in your first serious drop-shipping business.

...not.

There is no "best" or "perfect" side hustle/business.
A good ("good" is possible) side hustle would be something with which you provide value.
Just go around your city and ask if you can clean some windows or mow their lawn.
Obviously doing something like cleaning solar panels probably won't work in a Chinese cave city, so you should at least run your possibilities vaguely through the CENTS system.
My most important tip is to take action ASAP. Whether that's tickling your uncle for 12 cents or finding the worlds largest Gold, Oil, Yu Gi Oh cards and business idea reserve in the whole world...

"what would you guys recommend?"

Do what you can do best of in a new and creative way. For example, if you have strong gardening skills then do it. To win a competition game use some sort of referral or income sharing programs.

Just out of curiosity, why is the “get a job” advice so popular around here? I got my start in business without ever having a real job (not counting small summer job stints and other such things as a kid).

Stop looking for a “side hustle” that can make you some quick bling and start working to build a business that can make you a millionaire 10 years down the road.

That’s my advice.

Everyone building a side hustle is a retard. Why waste your time with something if you don’t want to make something “full time” out of it?

The easiest way to start is get a skill, then start practicing that skill. You’ve got cheap courses on Udemy.

Learn a skill - programming, copywriting, creating websites, running Facebook ads - whatever picks your interest.

Then off you go on Upwork and get your nose dirty with your first few jobs. Don’t care about the money, accept whatever you’re paid, focus on reviews and learning. Stop trying to earn money - just be a sponge and learn as much as you can by doing those projects and focus on making the customer happy, delivering excellent results that YOU YOURSELF are proud of and getting those 5 star reviews.

You’ll get ripped off by some clients, you’ll need to learn to detect the sharks from the decent folks, and keep moving forward.

At some point you’ll have mastered the skill and you’ll have a portfolio - hopefully a portfolio showing strong results that will allow you to charge big $$ in the future.

Then use that skill and your experience to start some more complex business that delivers higher value while you earn money from the skill you’ve already mastered. It’s a process, you can’t short change it, but it works.

This is exactly what I did. Learned copywriting -> got jobs -> mastered copywriting -> got hired by some of the big players in my niche (finance) -> got asked to start an agency -> consulting & teaching other agency owners how to scale.

You’ll have your own journey but it’s 100% possible. Just start. And stop worrying about making money, you’re in no place to worry about that when you have 0 skills yet.

Sounds like you and your family are struggling to make ends meet. I would also recommend you put your "entrepreneur ego" aside and get a J.O.B. The most important thing right now is making sure you and your family are fed and sheltered. It's impossible to focus on building a business if you are hungry.

The best side hustle to start making money immediately will depend on your skills, interests, and resources. However, here are a few options that can potentially provide quick income:
  1. House cleaning: If you have experience cleaning and are able to secure clients quickly, this could be a good option. Cleaning services are always in demand and can be a reliable source of income.
  2. Pet-sitting or dog-walking: If you love animals and have some free time, starting a pet-sitting or dog-walking service can be a great way to make money quickly.
  3. Online tutoring: If you have a particular skill or subject you're knowledgeable in, you can offer online tutoring services and make money immediately.
  4. Online selling: Starting an online store or marketplace to sell goods you already have or can source quickly can be a great way to start making money immediately.
  5. Food delivery: If you have a car and are able to navigate your area well, signing up to work as a food delivery driver can be a quick way to start making money.
It's worth noting that all these options may require some initial investment and also, it's important to consider your location, competition and marketing strategy before starting any of these side hustles. It's also important to remember that these are not the only options and to consider your skills and interests before choosing a side hustle.

Beat me to it.

Giveaways are the first and last paragraphs, plus "However,".

Like who says "However,"?

I'll say it. I fecking hate how ChatGPT responds. It's the worst English teacher BS on how to write a good essay and not how to write so someone will actually read it.

It's pompous, often wrong, and almost always boring.

If you really only have 20 dollars to your name, go door to door and offer to pull weeds. Quote the project based off how long you think it'll take and go from there - try and quote to where you get at least $40 an hour when starting out. So for example, if it looks like it will take 3 hours, quote $120.

I did that for a while when I was broke and just had garbage bags, gloves and a car. I eventually charged $70 an hour labor per person for pulling weeds and had a buddy or two of mine help and paid them $20 an hour. So $120 an hour or so profit (after paying a buddy) for pulling weeds. Not bad for no equipment overhead.

Its back breaking labor and not great in the long run.. but do it for a few weeks and you can save up $1000 or so to buy more specialized equipment like a pressure washer, window cleaning supplies, lawn mower, or whatever tickles your fancy. My only advice beyond that is stay away from any type of labor that involves ladders.

The absolut best way to make a brutally amount of money fast when you dont have any is to become the middle man of something.
Find someone who sells something expensive, be it a service or product, find customers for this someone and take a share of the profit. Either through fee or percentages.

Like I started to work with a business who sold medical technology lasers in another country, talked to them that I could sell it in my country and keep any money after I paid their sell price.
Customer pay me ex 30k, I bought the machine for 20k. Kept 10k for myself.
I just payd 20usd in ads on an online marketing site.
Disnt build a website or anything business related untill like 3 month after the first sale.
Just put up ads. Worked fantastic and made quite alot doing this.

Now I have my own brand of medical technolgy machines, (I reinvested the profits into the business) but I have someone who works for me the way I described above. She is not hired, just do her thing and once in a while, she send me a customer and I send her a commision and Im working to get another one like this.
She has made like 15-20k already with another 10k on her way if she can get a big sale which is pending.

What I did for some extra $ was being a basketball referee. Most mens leagues and school districts need refs year round for their leagues. They pay 25-30 per game and games are about 45 minutes. Games are in the evenings so you can get 3-4 per day and still have the whole day open. You can also ref all day on the weekends. They usually pay cash/check same day. It’s also a good way to get a light workout in. This obviously isn’t Fastlane but a way to get 400-600 bucks a week in your pocket for 4-5 hours of work per day. Good way to get out of being broke.

hey, I have a laptop what do you suggest I do
My first thoughts:
  • Create short videos from people's long videos.
  • Run social media for businesses.
  • Run paid ads for business.
  • Build websites or other assets for business.

Now with this info if I was you I would get into house/business/office cleaning 100%.
This is what I would do.
However it does require a little investment.

You need:
Car
House cleaning equipment
People who clean
Computer
500usd

You need to learn (to save money)
Photoshop
Website building
Google ads
Meta-marketing (facebook/instagram)

This is whats needed to be done.
1. Register a cleaning business
2. Build a web-page
3. Set up google ads
4. Set up social media ads
5. Get clients
6. Work
7. Get more clients
8. Work more
9. Scale

The reason for this is simple.
Everyone who have little money try e-commerce. Some suceed but competition is fierce and profit has dropped.
Better to focus on service based business.

Cleaning is always in demand, has good ROI and is easy to manage/operate and to scale (I have been toying with the idea of cleaning business for fun)

Now. How can you get ahead?
Do it with marketing, service and a good webpage. Do NOT compete with price.
Marketing will give you good reach and as such give you more klicks and if the page is good, more conversions than your competitors.

Cleaning business in my country that does this well have very good profit margain.

Just out of curiosity, why is the “get a job” advice so popular around here? I got my start in business without ever having a real job (not counting small summer job stints and other such things as a kid).
Taking a shot in the dark here: probably because the vast majority of people that create threads like OP's are screaming out "I need money yesterday, I have no skills, I have never made more than $10/hr., I can't make a decision and stick to it," etc. The quickest way for these individuals to gain skills, money, etc. is via some type of job. Makes sense, if you think about it.

It exposes them to other people, giving them an opportunity to network/listen for pain points. It gives them the opportunity to potentially learn an industry/skill/trade/etc. which (obviously) can then be used moving forward. It forces them to actually WORK, instead of sitting on their a$$ saying shit like "YUH BRUV, GONNA FLIP THESE HOT WHEELZ N MAKE BANK, S^ BITCH!?" And it gives them some type of money to support themselves and whatever business venture they may pursue.

All of that being said, I'm really happy for you, knowing you were able to avoid working a job before launching your business. Unfortunately, that simply will NOT be the reality for 99.99% of people/entrepreneurs.

I think one thing to keep in mind is the path of least resistance. Things like cleaning companies and dog walkers take a lot of your time and energy and leave you without the ability to really do anything else besides moonlight as an uber/delivery driver. If you've got the energy for this, God love you. I'll give you a rough roadmap for a creative route.

I started in graphic design/video/motion graphics/web design. Things that people 15 years ago told me would never make money, but now I look at what just a straight graphic designer makes in some circumstances and it blows my mind. With that being said, my recomendation is take a couple of months to learn Adobe CC, then do some free work aka "spec" work for some actual businesses until you have 5 piece to show. Get a simple wix or square website, put your resume together, state you've been freelancing for the past year, and start applying to remote graphic designer jobs, for which there are endless right now if you check indeed.

When you apply, don't position yourself as entry level, assume the role as a graphic designer who can contribute effectively to their mission in your cover letter (make this the best things you've ever written, ask for help if you need it). Your low end might be $20 an hour in a fulltime role to start, but this will allow you immense flexibility as you can conserve your energy tank and then operate nightly in doing that same role for delivery/uber/whatever. You can also take on other project based jobs if you have time, which again would be remote. When everything is said and done you can easily earn anywhere from 50-70k doing these things.

It all boils down to the juice being worth the squeeze. Just my .02.

You make some good points but you’re greatly exagerating here. There are many people who have never worked a traditional job in their entire life. Well above 1% of the population in many developed countries.

These days you don’t need to get a job to learn a skill. Buy a cheap course on udemy and learn to design in Photoshop. Put your a$$ on Upwork and get design jobs. Read design books. Study it like a craft.

You don’t need any job to do that, you’ll start making an income and building a skill.

Jobs aren’t there to teach you skills - they hire people who already have skills to perform. If you don’t have skills, you’re likely going to get a job flipping burgers at McDonald’s.

You’re not going to learn much out of that…

I taught myself all the skills I know. Nobody told me what to learn, how to do it, etc. you have to figure it out.

And the sooner you realize that nobody is out there looking out for you, the faster you can focus on actually making something happen for yourself.
