That is beyond awful. I can't imagine living in such a dense, concrete jungle with zero respite (there's like maybe a few trees in total in this picture).

If you breathe in delhi the damage caused by pollution is same as smoking 5 or some ridiculous amount of cigarettes. AQI is shittiest of all,700 is considered normal(mind you where i live its less than 100 or 150). My brother lived there for 7 to 8 months and his life expectancy dropped by half a year (no pun intended).
But hey people in delhi pay no property tax, water bill, upto 100 units free electricity, why because they come under central government (we have state and Central). F them.
Who the hell wants nice lifestyle over health? I would rather live in village than such city.

Between stuff like this and micro plastics, both of which seem to be mostly unavoidable from keeping out of our bodies, I really wonder what life expectancies will be like in 100 years. It will be interesting to see whether these contaminants in the environment will affect us or not, but if so, not sure what could be done about it at that point either.

I have a pet theory that every "input" we receive influences us a little. If we are reading garbage and nonsense our ability to think is degraded. And vice versa, if we spend out time reading well thought out ideas our ability to think increases.

Well, in a village you don't get electricity like you get in Delhi. The power cuts are horrendous. There are little to no roads. The choices on food and utility items are restricted. The moral police has full authority of your life. There is no separation between the church and the state. The local sarpanch can demolish your life at any point, or the goons closest to him. The law is in the pockets of the sarpanch too -- both the legal police and the illegal police (his goons with guns).
People in villages are unproductive. Their state is a reflection of what they do all day. They don't have anything to do. So they talk. What are you gonna talk about 24x7x365 days x the human lifespan? There is not much that goes around in villages. Nothing moves. So the human brain, seeking novelty and out of sheer boredom, becomes ravenous to know the other person's business. If you resist, then the game becomes even more engaging. Maybe secrets? Who know what you are holding back?
They will talk to their neighbors and their neighbors with them. Because that's all they do. Soon the entire village is vying to know what you are doing inside your hut, secretly in the corner. Human nature.

Kiss a$$. Sarpanch's a$$, pandit's a$$, cops' a$$, whatever. But kiss a$$.

The feeling of having no choice but to kiss a$$. Because all the ways out of the problem are controlled by the system. Whatever system. HELPLESSNESS

Aim to sell high value skills in a market that will pay you a great price for them. You see, such people have choices. And they are smart. They keep them open. They also like nice parks and nature and don't like pollution either.
If it gets too polluted, or too deforested, or the church tries to interfere in the matters of the state, they leave. The state is forced to give a F*ck to retain this talent. So that the unproductive ones in villages can still have power and other necessities. Because the state builds and supplies these unproductive places with free shit. Shit that it pays for by taxing the economic product of this conglomerate of productive assets.

But the state has to be careful to not F*ck up. Because smart people never lose their ability TO CHOOSE FOR THEMSELVES. They guard this freedom with their lives. You take away choices, tell them what to do, how to do it, prescribe, and you have f*cked up states with tyranny. Because tyranny doesn't like the freedom to choose to be given away. That is the whole definition of it. Like Soviet Russia -- good for the averages, hell on earth for the 'smart ones'. 2 choices for a drink if you are lucky, maybe 1 for television if you wait your turn. Like a helpless victim waiting for a bus in sweltering heat. Or chilling cold. Not knowing when it's gonna show up or if. Lack of choices.

What you are going through is understandable. Its shit. But you (and every other person potential immigrant to anywhere reading this) have two choices.
A) The easy road -- easy now, hard later
B) The hard road -- hard now, easy later

Choose carefully. And oh yes, the Delhi Metro doesn't ply in villages. There are some top experts of the field that live a high class lifestyle in Delhi because they were brought here by the system so that the other productive people don't continue to leave the capital. And, it's profitable to the system, the people using it AND the people who built and maintain it.
These people don't look forward to going to a life in an Indian village.

Your problem is not the pollution. But being HELPLESS from having no choice but to inhale that shit. You should not trade freedom of choice in one domain and take on other chains. It will still weigh you down.

Seek a way out of HELPLESSNESS. Imagine and dream about a place with maximum choices on things of value to you.

Choice of not breathing shit is one of them.
