FML. It's all your fault. You got me to buy the newest iPhone when it just came out remember? It's 5G capable but I still don't know what it is or how to turn it on. I think that would involve me calling my provider, which I never did. And now there is this post reminding me that I paid for the device that I still use on LTE. So yeah, I am anti 5G now, might as well jump on that bandwagon.
Turn it on… You know you want to.DA56FCE2-48B7-439A-8FDD-0B628BF97D4E.jpeg

Speaking of all this… Are there any people here that are legitimately anti 5G? I know this is a thing and I just can’t wrap my head around that.
I'm not, but I was talking to some people at a conference who sell anti-5G hats and clothing. Like... to block the signal. Hats!

While I think it's pretty goofy (and I had a lot of fun dead-pan acting concerned about "rays" at their booth), tbh I wouldn't be surprised if a microwave-blocking hat prevented or slowed "embassy syndrome." Mainly because I think there are so many signals being focused on those places to remote hack devices, read sound vibrations off of windows, power discreet (illicit) electronics, etc, that for all I know it's barbecuing those people's heads. Conveniently, it also explains the astounding stupidity of many politicians.

Not to bring up the negative posts from above and sound like I’m another basement dweller hiding from Klaus Schwab but I can assure you that they are already using those robots in China to patrol the streets during lockdowns. Along with drones.

Think it won’t happen in USA? I bet no one thought what happened over the last 2 years would ever happen in Australia.

I think 5G has some genuine concerns but I haven’t looked into it too hard, what can we do anyway.

I did get a good laugh when I saw people say it’s interfering with planes and all the planes are grounded and flights are getting cancelled because 5g was just installed.

We’ve had it here for ages now in Australia, if it affected planes we would know. People in USA act like it’s the only country in the world.

Don’t use it to grow an audience. Use it to connect with people you wouldn’t otherwise connect with.

The increase in Twitter followers overnight for right wingers and the sudden decrease in followers for left wingers has been... interesting lol. There's no way Twitter could be trying to fix something before it's dicovered is there... :eyes:

They've already been used in the USA in public. In Hawaii during the pandemic, the Five-0 were using a robot dog to test homeless people for C0vid and interview people who had tested positive. It operated both controlled and autonomously. In 2020, NYPD used the same robot for responding to a domestic violence call at a public housing building before they returned it.

Solid advice. I like it already. I’m not motivated by “growing an audience” concept and it shows. But I have thousands of people on LinkedIn following me because I never tried to grow it, it happened because of connecting with people.

I used Twitter a bit last year and had a blast initially. I connected and interacted with loads of interesting people. I engaged in lots of public conversations.

I even replied to someone that they should read “Give and Take” by Adam Grant and was surprised when Adam Grant replied with a thank you.

Later on I somehow fell into the “build an audience” crowd. It started becoming scientific and formulaic. Post twice a day. Post in this format with this type of authoritative voice. Retweet throughout the day to catch people in different time zones. Remove the retweets the next day to clean up your timeline. Blah blah.

It took all the fun out of it.

I started becoming a “fortune cookie” account like all the ones I ignored.

And I stopped making connections with interesting business owners, and getting into interesting conversations as happens in this forum.

I may hop onto Twitter again one day, but not to “build an audience”.

IMO, building an audience is a by-product, not a goal.

I saw an interesting article about how something like 70% of right wing politicians emails land in gmails spam box but 90% of left wing ones land in the inbox. Those numbers are wrong but it was very similar.

These companies are all doing the same thing.

100% of politicians (left+right) emails should land in spam. Our lives would be better. Believe me.

Speaking of all this… Are there any people here that are legitimately anti 5G? I know this is a thing and I just can’t wrap my head around that.

The thing with 5G concerns, from what I've seen, is that it takes "understanding" a little bit of science to show why we will all die from it, and understanding more complex science to show why it is absolutely fine.

You bet. It saddens me that my posts have been perceived in a manner that implies I'm miserable and living in fear, when it's exactly the opposite. The top 3 words that I would describe my life is: Happy, gratuitous, and excited ... cynical would be #9 or 10 ... which tends to manifest itself here. Obviously I need to do better.

I can empathize with this.I also believe it's a fair balance and that cynicism is needed.

I feel like I'm getting less cynical the older I get but that might just be a false perception of the self.

However, back when I was in school I was extremely cynical. My peers disgusted me and I rebelled against any and all authorities. People would often tell me that I was "serious", aloof, and that I should "stop thinking about life in that way". Throughout all of this, I still managed to not be considered an outcast and was generally liked.

Fast forward to now, my girlfriend of 3 years is my complete opposite. Up until recently (before some tragic events unfolded) she was quite literally seeing the world through rose colored glasses. It was actually fascinating how differently we perceived everything.

I am always reading between the lines, suspicious of ulterior motives, and usually notice the "bad" about a person or a situation first. She, on the other hand, would usually see the good first and often rationalized how to excuse someone's behavior. This has lead to a lot of "I told you so!" moments.

I'm happy to report that things have been balancing themselves over time for both of us.

But now, I'm curious: What were you like in your childhood and adolescence?

I am, though I'm not going to do anything to fight it or run around warning the people of the dangers of it.

It will allow for further surveillance because these devices will be able to transmit more data faster.

I also think that there is something to belief that all of this WiFi is bad for our health in the same way that airport scanners are. Though to what degree, I cannot say.

I'm not going to go Alex Jones on this topic and I'll likely end up using 5G myself, but it just looks like we'll gain faster internet in exchange for more spying.

For every $1.00 a film makes at a cinema:

  • $0.60 goes to the cinema chain (!)
  • $0.20 goes to the distributor
  • $0.07 goes to the sales agent

This leaves just $0.13 left. After studios recoup their costs (marketing, travel, SAG residuals), the investors get paid out. There's often nothing left over to pay the actual filmmaker.

That's right: Creators are the last to get financial rewards from a film.

This payment injustice isn't limited to the directors — actors are also affected.

Take Return of the Jedi. The film grossed $450 million in 1983 ($1.3 billion today). But actor David Prowse, who played Darth Vader, never received a single residual paycheck for his work.

Source: Film Financing & Crypto: A Look At Retrogression With Director Anthony Hayes | Alts

Conclusion: don't make movies, start a cinema chain. So absurd that they get 60%.

So where I live, for 30$ a month you get to work out as much as you like. You even get to go into the sauna bathing room and steam room. I decided to bring a childhood buddy of mine, who's pretty scripted and jaded by his environment, to the sauna room to see how good it'll make him feel. I really love this guy and want to see things better for him. I made sure to cover the guest fees to make it easy for him. Two days in a row now. He told me it's one of the best thing that could have happen to him. One of the best thing he could be doing since he laid off smoking. He sees the benefit.

Guess what though?
He said he don't see himself getting a membership, for 30$ a month, because it's too expensive...
The punch line is after he says this.
He called a buddy of his to go eat out later, that'll probably cost him 50$ including tips...
50 dollars for a meal that probably cost 10$ if he cooked at home... 50$ of gluttony > 30$ a month of potentially life changing health benefit and clarity. Lesson learned... don't drag people out of the hell hole, especially if they find it comfortable there.

This is extremely sad and extremely common. I have a LOT of stories like that. People rarely make logical decisions but what's crazier is that they STILL don't make logical decisions when they're clearly in pain and find a viable solution (their brain will for some unfathomable reason rationalize why they shouldn't solve their problem).

You didn’t drag him out of a hell hole. You just showed him something better.

It’s up to him to take the next step if he wants it, and he may do later after you’ve planted a seed.
