Just bought "The Miracle Morning for Writers".

Will report back on that one, maybe with a thread of its own.

I read a shitload of self-development books and it has become sort of repetative circlejerk. Anyone has had this happen?

When it comes to self-help books, you want to focus on books that provide actionable steps as opposed to just talk. The other thing to know is that there is a small set of core books that are valuable, and the rest are just hashes of that.

My current reading list:
The Magic of Thinking Big
The Power of Patience
8 Weeks to a well-behaved child
Programming Pearls, 2nd. edition
Snow Crash

Interesting observation. Out of curiosity, what books do you consider as "the core" list? Thanks.

Think and Grow Rich/The Magic of Thinking Big - good ideas on how to "think". They help to train you to remain positive and think larger than day to day life.

How to Win Friends and Influence People - may seem a little dated, but provides great examples on how to deal with people.

The Millionaire Fastlane - Not the first book for advocating creating an online business, but I like the metaphors of the various speed lanes. Also, this forum.

Your Money or Your Life - I love how this book breaks down what money is, and helps to give a good view of it. It also provides another path to early retirement beyond starting your own business.

Edit, @Charnell's post reminded me of one more: Art of War.

Just finished 'Get Smarter' by Seymour Shulich, who is Canadian billionaire and philanthropist. It had some goods tidbits for getting the best out of life, and I enjoyed the appendix discussing gold mining and mineral royalties. I always like hearing about the type of big business that involves land, excavation, and giant machines.

It was recommended to me as a life changing book to me by a person I randomly met in a book store. I told them to read The Millionaire Fastlane .

I first started enjoying reading when I in 2015. Before I just hated it, probably because of those forced reads in school.
I am really happy that I read a lot more now - completely new worlds of wisdom and knowledge are now able to conquer. :D

Since then I read among others:

  • The Lean Startup:
  • Value Investing: From Graham to Buffett and Beyond
  • The Intelligent Investor
  • The Big Short
  • Sieg des Kapitals
  • Rich Dad Poor Dad

Recently:

I read through Monkey Business. Amusing and somewhat sad at the same time. I was completely fixed on going into Investment Banking after graduation, already had some interviews for internships and an excellent GPA. But THIS book ultimately destroyed my desire to go working in M&A, despite the fact I already knew that this kind of job wouldn't be very "nice" before.

Next on my list:

Just finished Unconscious Branding: How Neuroscience Can Empower (and Inspire) by Douglas Van Praet

I thought it was fantastic. Brain was turning while reading it and I'll be tweaking my marketing strategy because of it.

I can recommend "Reicher als die Geissens" by Alex Fischer.

To be honest, I was suprised. I had the book since January and decided to go through it this week and I don't regret it.
The concepts are easy to understand and definitely something I will look deeper into to further develop myself.
I hope you enjoy it as much I did.

I can recommend "Reicher als die Geissens" by Alex Fischer.
Seriously? This guy keeps popping up in my FB and my impression was always that he is an absolute fake.

Currently reading "The Offshore Race Crew's Manual" and a German book ("Unternehmensnachfolge durch Unternehmensverkauf)" on how to prepare a business for selling it, focussed on SMB in Germany. :embarrased:

No no, Alex Fischer is the real deal. And especially if you're interested in real estate in Germany, I recommend his Youtube-stuff.

Finished Cas$hvertising today, should've done it sooner. Jam packed with gold nuggets on advertising.
I'm halfway through Ready, Fire, Aim but lost interest after Masterson made the switch to "stage two: Childhood" companies.

After receiving my first paycheck as an entrepreneur I just ordered:
  • Elon Musk by Vance,
  • my hardcopy of TMF (even though I read it already:oops: feels like I need to physically own one and re-read it some time soon),
  • Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson.
