This post is on another level, give me more wisdom.:pompus:

I can't take credit for that wisdom, it's a phrase I've heard numerous times over the last few years, although I don't know who originally said it. But if you want more, I suggest you read 'The complete guide to not giving a F*ck' by Julien Smith. Here is a little snippet for the lazy:
FACT NUMBER 2. You don’t need everyone to like you.

This stuff is crazy, I know, but it’s cool, you’ll get used to it. Here’s the next thing: not only do most people not know that you exist, and some are judging you, but it totally does not matter even if they are.

How liberating this is may not even hit you yet, but it will. Check this out: when people don’t like you, nothing actually happens. The world does not end. You don’t feel them breathing down your neck. In fact, the more you ignore them and just go about your business, the better off you are.

I also think that you should read Alone Together by Sherry Turkle:
Facebook. Twitter. SecondLife. “Smart” phones. Robotic pets. Robotic lovers. Thirty years ago we asked what we would use computers for. Now the question is what don’t we use them for. Now, through technology, we create, navigate, and perform our emotional lives.

We shape our buildings, Winston Churchill argued, then they shape us. The same is true of our digital technologies. Technology has become the architect of our intimacies. Online, we face a moment of temptation. Drawn by the illusion of companionship without the demands of intimacy, we conduct “risk free” affairs on Second Life and confuse the scattershot postings on a Facebook wall with authentic communication. And now, we are promised “sociable robots” that will marry companionship with convenience.

Technology promises to let us do anything from anywhere with anyone. But it also drains us as we try to do everything everywhere. We begin to feel overwhelmed and depleted by the lives technology makes possible. We may be free to work from anywhere, but we are also prone to being lonely everywhere. In a surprising twist, relentless connection leads to a new solitude. We turn to new technology to fill the void, but as technology ramps up, our emotional lives ramp down.

Sorry if this is too upfront, but if you lost your friends in 6 months, they weren't really friends. They were closer to acquaintances.

I have friends I haven't seen in years, but I know that if I ever need anything or they need anything, then we'll be there for each other.

Fox example: I reached out to a friend from high school that I hadn't seen in years. He invited me to visit him in LA. I flew out to LA and had a blast.

Concentrate on building lasting friendship. Invest your time in people that care about YOU, and not just a person that they can party with.

I read the first article 2 years ago, it was a time I found myself immediately reacting to a couple girls because I was insecure, then I read that article about not giving a F*ck and while it's not possible to completely out of touch with your surroundings, I found myself stone cold emotionless to most things where I began judging myself for not caring about people at all and being inconsiderate to close ones, since then I've been trying to balance.

I suggest joining, or starting, a like-minded mastermind group of other young Fastlane-inspired entrepreneurs. That way you have a social outlet, yet you are also investing into your Fastlane lifestyle and improving your networking skills at the same time. Who knows, maybe you will attract and meet a like-minded young lady in the group as well.

Its just sometimes when I look at my snap-chat and Facebook. I see all my friends enjoying life going to all these places and I'm just at work studying. It kills inside.

They are at that moment. Remember, you are creating the process to get off the sidewalk. Your friends are walking on the sidewalk, enjoying a pseudo event that will not last. You are creating a process. That process will lead to your grand event that you will enjoy for a life time. F*3

Actually less people would want to be his friend and he will have a harder time finding one. If you're talking gold diggers however he'll find plenty of those.

I'm in the same boat , as many entrepreneurial minded individuals are. We work so hard, sometimes in to a state of depression. Which is the just the result of self doubt, and the feeling of complacency that we are not progressing as fast we want to. I forget which motivational book I read, but it was a story about how this bamboo tree in China takes 5 years of nourishing, and doesn't grow an inch. And than it the last 6 weeks it grows and sprouts to 100 feet tall.

Think about that and put it into perspective

Also as far as relationships go as blue atom brought up, same situation here. I'm 24, been in numerous long term relationships (6 years, 2 years, and the last was a year and a half before I kicked her a$$ to the curb.). If a woman just doesn't understand the hustle and what your trying to build, why should she be with you on the climb of the mountain. Stay single. Invest in yourself, as lonely as it may be, it's an investment that pays dividends as opposed to diminishing returns on someone you met on match.com

Thats so true, sometimes it feels like you are not going anywhere, those moments you just feel like you just want to quit and reminiscing what others are doing. Just have to hang on an hope it will pay off in the next two years.

Exactly my man... I don't reminisce though or think about what they are doing (as hard and mind consuming as it may be )

Because of the fact I'm so determined and set on my end result , I'm happy that I'm busting my a$$ while there high and getting amusement from geico commercials .

Just stay true to yourself and as corny as it sounds, consume yourself with educating , reading (just like you are doing already) and posting positive affirmations all over your office , car, room. It will keep you laser focused

@Kuda

Everything has a Pay Price to Action.

All your goals have a ticket on them. A cost of time, money and other resources that must be paid before you can have it.

I think this is the crucial realization you must have.

The thing is....whatever you are pursing...you must be CONSUMED with passion towards attaining it so that the pursuit of it keeps you sustained, and keeps your eye off of Joe Dufus' Facebook account.

You must accept for a period of time to live totally unbalanced in order to achieve the goals you desire.

What makes that process easier is KNOWING without any shadow of doubt that 1.) the goal is something you truly want for yourself, and 2.) you are burning with passion towards achieving said goal.

The worst thing is to burn yourself out chasing a goal that is not even important to you..

Hope it helps, and best of luck to you.

I'm going through a similar situation as you man. so this thread helps me alot

I know you want to be successful , but do not forget to live life too! That doesn't mean goin out every night or spending frivolously on pointless things. But it does mean don't be afraid to go try new things, and experience life as much possible.

Just find a nice balance between pursuing your interests (including socializing) and pursuing your dreams.

Jumping in the fastlane is a process. Being successful is a process. Being great is a process. These things are inevitably going to take time, and consistent dedication.

But when you brush aside your current happiness for your future, it makes it so much harder to actually WANT to continue down the path you are on.

When you find a nice balance, you start to love your life and enjoy every moment. You start to enjoy the long hours you put into your business cause you know you are improving. You start to enjoy the memories you've made with your friends. And the lessons you are learning in your studies will start to resonate and really sink in because you are interacting with real PEOPLE.

So if you skip the entire thing. My one piece of advice is to find balance in your life

Yeah man I'm in the same boat as you. I really can't help you more than just to say that it will all pay off in the end. And try to keep some balance and take some time off like Silverhawk said.

Hi Everyone

I read fast lane millionaire six months ago. and I have been trying to follow the advice. Well at first I thought it was easy I didn't realise that it will be this hard. I been working hard trying to build something for myself. So far I am learning programming and marketing to build an app. Before anyone gets at me about programming I have a programming background hence I like to program. To continue the story I work hard like everyday I read almost 5 hours a day bear in mind I also have a full-time job. However lately I just realised I don't have any friends, every girl I used to talk to has left me and moved to some other guy. I am actually quite depressed, I have no friends any more. What do I do. Trying to be rich means also being lonely is it worthy it. Does life get better when I have more time. I have no time at the moment to even do anything. I feel like I'm missing out on my youth age. I am 22 at the moment.
1. stop reading 5 hours a day, 90% of most books are just filler, books are made to be sold for money, and books with 300 pages sell more then books with 20 pages.
2. wealth is not about money, it's about being happy, a normal man needs good health, wealth and love to be happy, like that famous long dead psychologist once said.
3. slow down a bit, do all the other things that make you happy, spend time with friends, work out, go meet new women.
4. use the pain, pain is a great motivator.
good luck man

I think this is partly true. Yes you shouldn't put off happiness to some future event, but sometimes you just can't enjoy life right now.

The greatest trap I've fallen into in my life and still struggling to stomp out is the lifelong bullshit belief that I can't be fulfilled the way I am and my happiness has nothing to do with what's going on around me, I can give myself permission to be happy right now. It's the side effect of living in a competitive world that we put conditions on when we can be happy.

Yes this is true, I realized this a long time ago. But there's still moments when you feel like absolute crap with your current situation and the only thing to do is to change it.

Of course if you don't like something, change it but at the same time don't give away your power. Be happy because you can, you can find good in anything just as you can find bad in anything.

very true, one of the audio books i listened to, (cannot remember the title) said at any given moment, when your feeling down /negative / unhappy and unfulfilled. Just take a moment and think " Where is the Joy in this."

sounds a little silly but it actually helps me from time to time.

also just smile for no reason at yourself in a mirror. haha its so stupid it just makes you laugh and changes your state of mind

I Read Millionaire Fastlane in 2012, Graduated college a year and a half ago in 2013 at 23, got analyst job, looked at the cubicle, assessed the situation, and pretty soon after proceeded focusing my energy on app development and everything to do with it.

Push forward a year and a half and most likely hundreds of hours and sleepless nights at home and at work, I learned more about app development than i could have imagined.

Let me tell you,
in 2013 I graduated college, partied at 3 clubs for first time in my life, lost my virginity to an escort, got laid on my 24th birthday party at home, got a 32k 40 hour a week job paying more than i ever made in my life.(average college grad heaven?)

in 2014 i did almost absolutely nothing except
a)work at my job
b)work on my app stuff
c)tiny tiny tiny bit leisure time with sports and working out

Long story short 2014>>>>>2013 as far as my future success is concerned
by a long shot.

It is now january 22nd 2015, 3 days ago I have published my very first game app in my life on google play and the iphone version is waiting for submission once my similar minded coworker/artist designer friend uploads the artwork to itunes connect.
My second game app that I have been working on for literally all of 2014 is almost done and will be my first masterpiece. It's been a powerful learning experience, and I've been pretty mentally burned out but I'm HAPPY(but not satisfied) because I'm on the right path.

Personally, i can barely even do any leisure activities anymore without feeling like im wasting my time... I can't party because i know no money is being made while im at the club... replace "party" with any activity and i feel the same way.

I relax when i sleep and i do workout(at home).

I had the same "fears" as you regarding wasting my youth, but all that went away once i truly LET GO, basically accepted that im either gonna get rich or die trying, NOTHING ELSE F*ckIN MATTERS, PERIOD.(its a gradual process, takes time but ull get there if ur serious)

P.S. what's wrong with programming anyway?

I find it amusing that you are comfortable sharing the details of your sex life, but not the name of the app you've built... not that I care, I just find it amusing. How's your game going? Have you sold many copies yet?

I was talking in terms of the average person, they won't care about you so much as what's in your bank account. Maybe you'll get rich friends.

LOL i thought it would be frowned upon to "self promote" the app on the forum!
I'd love to share it!
It's called What's Kim Looking At
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iagg.wkla

It's a free app but has a banner ad at the bottom in the game to make money.
I got the idea for it awhile back before I even knew about The Interview, but now that it caused all this political controversy I was nudged by a friend or 2 to actually make it and try to cash in.
Of course I don't have marketing experience or an interest in marketing so now i have a pretty humorous app that nobody knows about.
I'd be more than happy to trade a percentage of app earnings for some much needed exposure.
I figured that if the Fart App was raking in 20k a day, then it's gotta be possible, and all id need is 1k a month to quit my job and sustain myself while making more apps.

Thanks for the kind words. I like to believe that luck is not necessary here since to quit my job I'd be willing to live off just 1000 dollars a month, which in my opinion is a very down to earth achievable number that i will reach as long as i just keep making apps and don't stop.
I live in NYC by the way, not the cheapest place to live by a long shot.
