Get the left side of the board. Build houses as soon as you complete the group, especially on the oranges. Get all 4 railroads. Don't let anyone complete their group color if you can. Watch them suffer and beg.

(whining) "But BellaPippin you already have those, give me the last yellow"

See!? I knew you were a Monopoly character!

conditional sales

“I will sell you my house for x but I will become exempt from the railroads that you own”

Executing contracts later in the game

*text friend* “can I buy your property for $300?” “Yes”

*does nothing*

*waits until later in the game*

Someone else: “I will pay you $2000 for your property”

Me: “I’d like to execute on the contract via text from earlier. Thanks for the property. Here’s $300.”

*sells for $2000 immediately*

"Fine I'll give you the last yellow, but you will charge me base rent on that group for the remainder of the game"

Shit... and I'm down here hoping endorsements roll in for winning second place in a beauty contest.

Flip the board

That is the only way to always ensure either you win or never lose.

I am joking

As for my strategy, I like to passive-aggressively insinuate that there will be real-world consequences if they cause any trouble. "Oh are you sure you want to use that card? Didn't you need a ride to the Airport later? It would be a shame if you missed your flight..." I find it really adds to the fun.

The funny thing is, the vast majority of people play monopoly completely wrong with "house rules". The house rules often create even more feud and tear families apart. Ask me how I know.

I had a 30-year run of winning every game of Monopoly I ever played since age eight. Even when other players joined forces to take me down I played unpredictably to them and still won. I guess I've only played with slowlaners and that I'd be absolutely skewered by many on this forum.

There are moments in the game when players all want to deal suddenly, after taking a look at their weakness and strategic holes. That's when you hold off doing deals. The trades at that point are the most rational and will at least slightly weaken everyone's else's game - except for yours.

Instead I make deals when others are distracted or careless, because they'll feel the pressure is off, they already have an advantage, and deal for some other reason besides logic or advantage. I keep asking for deals when I notice that mindset.

I'll tell you it was really, really fun to finally lose, and also lose twice in a row! Especially because the winner was my daughter I admit. Another renegade.

Buying all the orange and pink things i can get my hands on. So that part is kinda luck. Honestly at the start I buy almost everything so people have to negotiate with me. Then at some point they have to give me what I want to kinda make te game playable and get their streets. If i have for example green or yellow places a lot of people overvalue them, so i just want the orange and a lot of cash. But since my houses will be so cheap that early they are never able to get houses on their streets.

Unrelated but I played a Monopoly dollar scratch off and won 50.
Stonks.
