My side hustle is Simple, Boring, and Typical...

Garage Sales to Ebay/FB Marketplace

I saw a video on youtube last week and decided to give it a shot last saturday. I grabbed my family and had fun looking around at garage sales to maybe 5 spots.

Regardless of the rapid experiment I only spent 8 dollars and ended up with 4 franchise Jerseys.

Looked up their previous sells, I'm hoping to make at least 60 bucks on this.



I will be doing another run tomorrow. Setting a budget of 100$ cash ready to go.

I'm going out on a limb here and going to assume you never used eBay before. eBay is an auction based website. Thats why I'm saying I'm "hoping" to make at least $60 dollars on this. And majority of the bidding is done on the last day.

Those auctions are relevantly new, nobody has bid yet. The Dr.J jersey I posted right away. I set the minimum bid at 12.20 to get more 'traffic' but I have now 5 watchers meaning 5 people ready to bid.

Comparing to the rest of the auctions selling very similar jerseys below,

So those are the prices people are asking for, and mine is set at 12.20 so its a bargain. Once again this is an auction so it'll climb up on the last day hopefully to at least 30 bucks.

Same I could say for the other 3 colts shirts. The comps for 2 blue shirts seem to be going for 15$ so I set mine at 10. The pink superbowl comps one is going for 25-30, I set that one at 10 too.

If one of those sell at the lowest bid, I still turned a profit regardless. I bought all 4 jerseys for 8$.

And it took me 3 hours while hangingout with my family. So this is a legit a winning weekend for me.

Nice. My side hustle is playing music. If I could sing it would be a hell of a side hustle. But as a guitarist I have to rely on singers (and they’re always flakey) and then have to split the money. But we can make 3-4 hundred for a 3 hr show. A full Band (3-4 members) can make 12-15 hundred. So it’s a decent side hustle.

We used to buy cheap jewelry from ebay. Bid up to .99c on things with free shipping. It would take about 30 days to get here from other countries and the people at the local auction house would go crazy over it. lol We made about $2000 a month doing that.

I did this in the past in HS and working for a thempark helped me buy my first car this way. It's not new to me but I don't know why I ever stopped. the ROI on this is insane, and if I stick with this and do it every saturday during the season I don't see why I cant pull 500$ everyweekend

Already Made 30 dollars off the first batch. Last Saturday I got out late, and I ended up with a 1986 snuggies ad bear that I got for .50 cents . They go around 20$ on ebay so It'll be sitting on there until it sells. 50c is borderline free in today's society.

I'm going to make up another map and tackle the garage sales in my area as early as possible and see if I have better hits. Also, last time i went around the 'newer' side of town and it was dry so I'm going back to the 'older' side of town and see if I get better results.

I used to go to Pull-A-Part junk yards and take off things I knew brought value in the car market that I am. It was great because things I bought people didn't care to take off so I would spend about 20 mins taking stuff off, buying it for few bucks then selling it online for $100 or more. I would average about 50-75% profit margin. Haven't been doing that lately because I don't have as much time so been trying to sell stuff locally that I no longer need in the house. Issue I am running into is trying to sell low dollar items that would work best on eBay.
When you sell on eBay, do you guys have a PO Box for the return label or no return address?

I listed some old hardware from my last PC on ebay last week, and made $400. Not bad for hardware from 2012/2013. I should have sold during the crypto craze; probably would have made another $100.

Got me thinking about doing more reselling. More stuff around the house and then perhaps occasionally flipping stuff from Craigslist or garage sales. This really seems like easy mode.

Awesome stuff,

I made over 90$ this past weekend selling off furniture for a friend of mine that moved out and wanted to throw out all of his furniture, so i put them all up on Facebook marketplace and priced most of them in the 5-10 dollar range and even made a delivery for 10$. It took me at most 4 hours so I almost made 25$ an hour, which is my salary at my workplace now. Did this instead of garage sales.

I can see the potential of become a junk scrapper and picking up furniture/junk and then getting paid to pick it up then if you see something decent, you can just resell it by yourself. There's a boring but smart business opportunity there.

Haven't done this, but I'm willing to try and drag my son along haha. I'll be down to do this, then end up buying a snow blower to speed up the process and have it cleaner!

Yep! Good ol door knocking never fails, helps alot if you target the right suburb area with massive driveways

For someone wanting to do this but has no money, find a junk yard that has a lot of the same kind of car. Make sure they all or most have the same parts on them that you are interested in selling. Take a picture if possible or find a good one on the internet and put the part for sale. Once you sell the part, go buy it from the junk yard and ship to buyer ASAP. After you do that a time or 3 you can take the profit and now buy the part first, before you sell it.

I have no idea how much profit I have made over the years from selling things and not 1 time have I ever sold anything on ebay or Amazon. Local sites rule and are way more fun.

What a week, that friend I mentioned had more furniture so me and my wife took it all in and decided to try to sell it all.

My main hustle is homeschooling my kiddos, philanthropic projects, being a board member, and overseeing my investments (be the bank!).
