You have to be a student before you can become a master.

I've spent years working with/for people smarter, wiser, and better than me. I put a sticky note on my bathroom mirror and wrote all the things I've mastered in life. To this day, it's still blank.

Life is a journey and sometimes we can be too impatient to outpace a mentor. We need to enjoy being the student that's learning from someone we look up to.

Just curious, are you a software developer?
I am a software developer and I agree that in the future software developer jobs will disappear. Not so soon, but...

I used to be part of a team, like 20 years ago, while being an employee, that developed a code generation framework, starting from a diagram. Draw it and the engine will build it. And that was 20 years ago.

I tell this to my friends also, but they don't quite agree with me.

Remember, the factory of the future will have a dog and a human. The human will be there to feed the dog and the dog, to prevent the human from interfering with the machineries...

Employment is a good thing, jobs are a good thing, and most people shouldn't be entrepreneurs. But the ones who can, should!

Why would you think that most people on the forum would disagree with this? I agree, wholeheartedly. Without employees, I got nothing. My business, my ability to generate profits - poof, gone. I don't think solopreneurship can scale as well as a business with employees.

And I agree that most people should not be entrepreneurs. It's not for the faint of heart. I feel I put my entire net worth on the line, my reputation, my family's ability to rely on "income from a C-suite job". When we started I honestly felt like there was no going back, I had to succeed because so much was riding on it. My personality suits business well, under pressure I never panic, I am always calm and collected. I make good decisions. But most people around me are the opposite. I joke to my finance department when they panic by telling them "no one ever died from an accounting emergency".

So no, I don't think most people should be entrepreneurs.

I think a lot of new people or those who aren't regular posters with lots of rep view employment as being a "rat" and being inherently bad for everyone. I disagree with that for the most part, but I do understand it and relate to it.

People should be a little grateful to have a job... someone else made that happen - often the entrepreneur :)

UBI is a good policy for entrepreneurs.

The brave ones have more powder to fuel their business to sell products and services to customers who are otherwise too poor to buy.

Definitely not socialism or communism in my book.
