I've got a stack of books by my bed that I'm working through:

Awaken the Giant Within - Tony Robbins (read it before, but recently started reading it again).

An Introduction to Psychology (can't remember by whom, but its the university type handbooks, so it often succeeds in putting me asleep - the theory bits that is).

How life imitates chess - Gary Kasparov (I'm about halfway through this one - was wondering how to become great in chess/life, and this book seemed like a fit).

Successfull Interpersonal Communication - Another handbook (still to start reading it).

How to have kick-a$$ ideas - Chris Barez-Brown. (I'm about 75% through this book, and so far I think it is a great book. It has great exercises, lots of pictures/drawing that makes it an easy read, and is immensely useful in coming up with creative ideas to make the most of your opportunities (a rephrase from 'problems' :)).

Your idea can make you rich - Its from the guys who run the Dragon's Den. So far I'm not really impressed as it feels like the 'same-old' entrepreneur advice in a million other books, but I'm not done reading it completely yet, so I might still change my opinion.

The Complete Guide to Flipping Properties - Steve Burgess (I'm still to start reading this one though - I bought it thinking it would be specific to the UK market, but it isnt, so I'll read it further into the future).

Thats it for my currently reading/unread stack next to my bed.

What are you reading?
Listening to Alex Becker's The 10 Pillars of Wealth: Mind-Sets of the World's Richest People.

Cant say this enough, "Fearvana" I actually was recomended that book here in the fast lane, and I appreciate it so much!

Million Dollar Weekend - Really enjoying it
That's one book by Noah Kagan where you can actually implement & test your ideas step by step.

Already got your accountability buddy? It's life-changing - just using it for my personal & work life.

Just started with Hidden Champions by Hermann Simon.

Getting a better understanding what makes them unique and how I can address them in the best way.

Otherwise I'm re-reading Transsurfing by Vadim Zeland (getting a fresh perspective on universal laws)

About half way through this one, and really enjoying it. I only read non-fiction, and this is a nice change of pace from the entrepreneur, mindset, business books I usually read. And he's an Aussie to boot.

Been on holiday with the family to Whitby (parents 50th wedding anniversary holiday with extended family in 1 huge house by the sea front - was great).

It inspired me to re-read the original Dracula on my kindle, as Whitby is where he enters the UK and it features quite a bit as a location.

Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
Carol Dweck

Nice read about fixed mindset and growth mindset

I fumbled two different sales for website services so I found and skimmed through "Five Figure Funnels: How To Sell Marketing Funnel Services To Your Customers For Five Figures In Any Market, No Matter Your Experience" by Michael Killen.

Gave me some ideas on where I went wrong and how to improve what I have currently.
Read this book if you want to make sales without even having a website or portfolio, or prior experience.

Some advice I took from my quick skim:

Main point:
  • You don’t need a portfolio, build trust by making great content.
    • If you’re making a sale and they ask for prior work/portfolio/examples, it’s because they don’t trust you can get the job done.
    • “Before going in, I sent him my long form piece of content which was a 10,000 word guide on ‘How membership businesses can grow their email lists’. It had worksheets, free downloads, content upgrades and images; it was basically a short book.”

Something to think about:
  • Small business and startups are not a niche.
    • Instead of "helping small businesses/startups get sales", try "email list growth for businesses with 1500 YouTube Subscribers"
  • Who you work with, is more important than what you do.
    • Instead of “I work in marketing” try “I work with marketing agencies to increase their prices and sell more of their services.”

Great actionable read thus far, gave me some ideas on where I went wrong and how to improve what I have currently. Read this if you want to make sales without even having a website or portfolio, or prior experience.

Wow, thanks for sharing this.

Awesome pointers, especially on niche and trust.

I gonna check out this book.
(Without guilty)

Because it is specific to the problem I am facing right now.

Cheers.

I found this article by the same author that hones in more on the Niche aspect @ This link.

Following up on what was said before, no portfolio OR PROPOSAL, is needed: Read more @ This link.

The articles he posts on this website are pretty valuable, check 'em out!

Re-reading all Derek Sivers books:

All these are so, so amazing that I think I'll get them in a linen hardcover. I absolutely love his unique and often contrarian thoughts.

Other than that:

I expected it to be generic and repetitive but it has lots of unique takes and useful advice (I tried to read it adopting the beginner's mind).

Now reading:

What are you reading?
Currently I'm reading '1 Page Marketing Plan' to learn about how marketing really works.

The past two weeks I was on vacation and finished a few books on my Kindle. I noticed that I remember more when reading, compared to just listening to audiobooks.

  • Don't make me think! - Web Usability by Steve Krug
It's a classic on UX optimization. It provides good food for thought.
  • The 1-Page Marketing Plan by Allan Dib
Another classic that's been on my to-do list for a while. I really enjoyed it: Remember your goal is to create a tribe of raving fans – not just transactions.
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" by Mark Manson
This one helped me take a more laid-back perspective on things, and enjoyed his writing style.

Next is the following:
Scarcity Brain by Michael Easter

Currently reading- "The Mom Test: How to Talk to Customers and Learn If Your Business is a Good Idea when Everyone is Lying to You" by Rob Fitzpatrick

I'm listening to The Money Tree by Chris Gullebeau - a fiction story about a guy who works 9-5 but finds the do called third way to pivot and start a side hustle and then own business.
At the same I read Same as Ever by Morgan Housel, the author of Psychology of Money.
Recently, I read Andrew Wilkinson's Never Enough. Highly recommended! It's his bio about starting and expanding series of businesses and searching how much $$$ is enough.

What are you reading?
Discipline equals Freedom ~ By Jocko Willink
Deep Work ~ By Cal Newport
12 Rules for Life ~ By Dr Jordan Peterson
Soon I am going to buy The Great Rat Race Escape and The Way of Men

Big Money Energy by Ryan Serhant. It was recommended on a podcast I was listening too. Honestly, feels a little fake reading it. But the points he is trying to get across make sense. Basically, you are the energy you put out (be confident), people DO judge you on your appearance (take care of yourself/dress well). You can build whatever you want by going after it with dedication. Similar to "The One Thing" book. I'd recommend it, don't be put off by the title.

After this I'm gonna re-read Getting Things Done by David Allen

Wanted to give a shout to a friend on the forum. They recommended this book for me a couple weeks past.

I will say it has been freeing for me in some instances.

Such a great book. I plan on finishing it.

Currently reading:
12 weeks year - great for productivity and goal achieving
Pitch anything - if you’re pitching a lot that’s a good book
Buy back your time (audio version) - good for productivity and time management.

I read a lot, working on applying what I read.

I listen "The Millionaire Fastlane " every other day while I am doing some sports activities.
Currently reading - Hooked by Nir Eyal. - this book is good if you are planning to develop a product.

I am currently reading:
Steven E. Koonin - UNSETTLED: What Climate Science Tells Us, What It Doesn't, and Why It Matters

Very interesting book on the management and manipulation of scientific studies on climate change.
A real bible to learn to distinguish reality from illusion.
