I didn't find a similar thread, so I wanted to make one where we each admit our weaknesses and explain how we plan to fix them. I think admitting and coming to terms with a flaw is the biggest step; it's taken me a while, but now I realize that most of my failures up to this point have been due to these recurring issues. I'll go ahead and share mine, and if anyone wants to chime in following a similar format, then great. I figured by putting things out there, we could help each other, perhaps with articles or advice, etc. They don't have to be in any particular order. If there's a similar thread I missed, let me know, and apologies in advance, I tried searching.

My Weaknesses & Solutions to Work Toward:

1. Perfectionism, Being Too Detailed - trying to absolutely 'kill it' on the first attempt, biting off more than I can chew, causing spillover in everything else/life
  • Solution: I need to stop trying to accomplish the ideal; instead think of "what can I accomplish in X amount of time" currently available. Think/do iterations and leave perfectionism for the end.
2. Over-planning / Busy Work (aka "wantrapreneur-itis") - brainstorming and planning out an idea to death, writing too many granular tasks, and never getting started
  • Solution: I should start with smaller, actionable projects or break them into phases, to avoid huge planning, which also decrease my fears of taking on huge risks.
3. Thinking Too Short-Term - trying to think only in the near-term, wanting to accomplish large ideas/goals too quickly and often under-estimating the work required, leading me to quit early
  • Solution: Focus more on the process and not the end goal, plan projects and goals in phases, take smaller steps and think of gradual progress rather than unrealistic wishing
4. Distraction/Procrastination - getting caught up with busy work, mindless reading news/articles and thinking of other unrelated ideas/projects
  • Solution: I have to realize the multi-tasking does not work for me; I need to focus on singular tasks for short interval sprints, and take small dedicated breaks; use timers/alarms more often
