The last 3 years have been the most productive in my life so far
For the last 3 years (Since I became an expat in another country), at the beginning of each year I have opened up the same notes page in my phone and set myself goals for the upcoming year.
Towards the end of the year, I go though and put the big green tick next to things i've nailed ✅ and a big red cross next to things I didn't ❌
You will be surprised at what you actually achieve, it's like its subliminally in your mind that you have these goals you've written down and are working towards all year.
With that in mind, I encourage you all to do the same
Personally I like to go to a coffee shop, sit with some lofi music on in my headphones and just lock in for a couple of hours and set solid goals in certain key areas of my life (I ask: What is most important to me this year?)
I want to share my goals here with you and i'd like to come back to this thread at the end of 2026 and check off what I achieve and would love it if anyone wants to come along for the ride.
(Please don't think the numbers are in here for any other reason than transparency... I'm grateful for the opportunities i've had to work hard and have been privaledged in many ways... these figures are just the starting point in my personal journey)
Business
- AED 44,182.60 per month net profit (This is very specific as this number matches my last paycheck from a job)
- 8x Management properties generating 320k annually
- Hire ops manager at the 8 property mark
Relationships
- Engagement
- Speak to my brothers more often, at least once a month video call (We've become more distant as we're in different countries now)
- Expand my network of friends in the UAE (It's a very transient place, people leave for home all the time, I am building something here and want to find more people doing the same)
Travel
- Summer holiday (Possibly Cappadocia in Turkey with all the hot air balloons... Travel to there is a nightmare but looks insane to stay in a cave hotel and see all the balloons at sunrise... Also helps me escape the 50 degree heat in the UAE during summer- Probably not by much)
- Christmas snow holiday (Possibly Georgia or Kazakhstan - May be rogure choices but one of my favourite holidays ever was to the mountains in Kyrgzstan and it was insane)
Health
- Intentional exercise / movement for 45 minutes a day minium (7/7 days so far and not been as intense as I thought at all)
- Track food daily (This isn't hardcore calorie counting, this is purely that I find if I put foods into an app and it shows me wow this meal is about to be 1200 calories and a full day of daily fat, I will adjust my choices and generally pick an option that is healthier overall) ((I will still be having the odd treat but lat year I just got a bit out of control, 2/3 chocolate bars in a day without even thinking, knock back a couple of redbulls without blinking... not ideal.
- Read 10 pages of non-fiction each day (I put this in the health category as for me I read at night before bed, since doing this, I go to bed earlier, sleep easier (Less blue light and screen time I guess) and feel more energised when I wake
Long term
*I aim to complete these in 2026 but they are more for along term vision*
- Renovate an apartment I own when the tenants leave in June - Pivot use possibly to short term let (2x yield from it)
- Retire my partner (She works hard and I can see she wants to be a wife and mum)
- Start a family
There they are... there are my goals.
Feel free to leave any advice you have for me or any questions you may regarding my choices or my plans to achieve certain goals.
I invite you to leave your goal below, lets come back at the end of 2026 and put some big a$$ green ticks on here! ✅✅✅✅
