Hmmm. Few places in Maine; I've spent a lot of time there. Surprising.

Since there is a discussion about foreclosure auctions, here is a list of auctions ordered by the United States Treasury.

http://www.treasury.gov/auctions/treasury/rp/realprop.shtml

Lots of stuff in NC and NM.

(Offer's both residential and commercial).

from the site:

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]he Department of the Treasury has designated EG&G Technical Services as the prime contractor responsible for the storage, maintenance, and sale of seized and forfeited real property. EG&G personnel respond to Treasury agency needs in various locations across the country, working daily with federal law enforcement officers and agents at local levels. Agencies served by EG&G are the
IRS-Criminal Investigation
, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the U.S. Secret Service. All proceeds from the sale of real property are deposited in the U.S. Treasury Asset Forfeiture Fund, which was created by Congress in 1992, to hold deposits of seized currency and revenues from the sale and remission of forfeited property. These funds help support continued law enforcement efforts and provide restitution to crime victims.

a little creepy but one's loss is another's gain!

Thanks for the link, never seen that site before. I am sure its hit or miss but what kind of deals can one generally get through a Fed auction?

I see some nice looking properties that are only a few hours drive from where I live so might check out the auctions and see how high the bids go.
