The father of a good friend of mine is a successful business man. He owns a construction business as his primary business and has a few other smaller related businesses like landscape/snow removal, scrap yard, and property management. I had the chance to ask him a few questions about starting a business. He answered it requires hard work, persistence, and an ability to see opportunities where others don't. As he left to visit one of his construction projects in his brand new 2016 pick up truck, "Start a "business" that alllows you to write off your hobby."

Those words caught me by surprise.

I'm curious as to how fellow members on the forum view this advice?
