Hey everyone!! JP here!
From what I've learned that the path of entrepreneurship is all about improving how you approach your problems and trying to make it all more efficient than where you were.
For that to happen, what I've experienced was a number of different types of routine changes and even when they worked, I still changed them up because I'm trying to find the best way to do things.
I'm going to share what worked for me on the basis that it might work for you too, but they're not meant to be kept over the long term.
Writing a To Do List
I cannot tell you how critical the to do list is for me. What you'll see out there is people saying that this will give you some sense of affirmation of success…this is kinda bullshit.. Its to make sure you make things crawl forward, big things like I'm trying to do needs constant attention and this is a way to keep your head ontop of things.
This is already imbedded into my daily routine, but what I do to keep it going is I change up on how I write the list. Sometimes I write out the times, sometimes I just write down the things to do with how long it takes.. Sometimes Its just some random scribble.
Don’t CONSUME social media, ACT instead
I avoid this like the plague.. Once I look even when I'm on the toilet.. I end up with the muscle memory of Constantly down to things that do nothing for me.
Now, I make sure I'm acting instead of consuming. I'm posting, I'm tweeting, I'm commenting. That’s the thing that changes regularly.
Prepare the Night Before
I prep my coffee, my breakfast, my clothes, my lunch everything is pretty much taken care of for the next day. I do this around 7-8pm well before I go to bed. It gives me a peace of mind when I go to sleep and I'm not in a frenzy trying to finish things up.
I don't always prepare everything and sometimes I prepare some other things for the next day that are not typicsl, but the routine of preparation will remain.
Organizing my Workspace
With all the different things I do on a regular basis, my working space gets messy and cluttered very quickly. I incorporate this in the evening routine as well, cleaning is somewhat of a zen and therapeutic activity. It’s a way of taking a break while being productive.
What I clean and organzige will vary from my office to my kitchen, however this gives me a major boost over the long run once it becomes a diehard habit.
The Magic Tomato
The Pomodoro Technique, the guy who developed this technique was inspired after a tomato shaped kitchen timer that he used to pace his work. Everyone has their own timing. Personally I do 25 minutes on and 5 minutes off, I do this for 4 times totaling up to 2 hours before I take a "long break".
However, I'm constantly changing the time I assign myself to work and some times they improve my productivity sometimes they dont, but the technique remains.
Sleep
I could argue this is the most important thing on this list, I've had days where I've gotten 3-4 hours of sleep trying to work and make things move forward. They pale in comparison to the days when I have 8 hours of sleep and I hit the stack full speed, I've accepted the fact that I need to be in bed prior to 11, and if I stay past it, the next day will have a chance of being lost.
So I focus on changing how much I sleep and balance it with how productive I am the next day. I am seeking for the perfect balance of hours needed for ME.. It seems to be somewhere between 5-7 hours.
