Hey everyone!! JP here!

From what I've learned that the path of entrepreneurship is all about improving how you approach your problems and trying to make it all more efficient than where you were.

For that to happen, what I've experienced was a number of different types of routine changes and even when they worked, I still changed them up because I'm trying to find the best way to do things.

I'm going to share what worked for me on the basis that it might work for you too, but they're not meant to be kept over the long term.

Writing a To Do List

I cannot tell you how critical the to do list is for me. What you'll see out there is people saying that this will give you some sense of affirmation of success…this is kinda bullshit.. Its to make sure you make things crawl forward, big things like I'm trying to do needs constant attention and this is a way to keep your head ontop of things.

This is already imbedded into my daily routine, but what I do to keep it going is I change up on how I write the list. Sometimes I write out the times, sometimes I just write down the things to do with how long it takes.. Sometimes Its just some random scribble.

Don’t CONSUME social media, ACT instead

I avoid this like the plague.. Once I look even when I'm on the toilet.. I end up with the muscle memory of Constantly down to things that do nothing for me.

Now, I make sure I'm acting instead of consuming. I'm posting, I'm tweeting, I'm commenting. That’s the thing that changes regularly.

Prepare the Night Before

I prep my coffee, my breakfast, my clothes, my lunch everything is pretty much taken care of for the next day. I do this around 7-8pm well before I go to bed. It gives me a peace of mind when I go to sleep and I'm not in a frenzy trying to finish things up.

I don't always prepare everything and sometimes I prepare some other things for the next day that are not typicsl, but the routine of preparation will remain.

Organizing my Workspace

With all the different things I do on a regular basis, my working space gets messy and cluttered very quickly. I incorporate this in the evening routine as well, cleaning is somewhat of a zen and therapeutic activity. It’s a way of taking a break while being productive.

What I clean and organzige will vary from my office to my kitchen, however this gives me a major boost over the long run once it becomes a diehard habit.

The Magic Tomato

The Pomodoro Technique, the guy who developed this technique was inspired after a tomato shaped kitchen timer that he used to pace his work. Everyone has their own timing. Personally I do 25 minutes on and 5 minutes off, I do this for 4 times totaling up to 2 hours before I take a "long break".

However, I'm constantly changing the time I assign myself to work and some times they improve my productivity sometimes they dont, but the technique remains.

Sleep

I could argue this is the most important thing on this list, I've had days where I've gotten 3-4 hours of sleep trying to work and make things move forward. They pale in comparison to the days when I have 8 hours of sleep and I hit the stack full speed, I've accepted the fact that I need to be in bed prior to 11, and if I stay past it, the next day will have a chance of being lost.

So I focus on changing how much I sleep and balance it with how productive I am the next day. I am seeking for the perfect balance of hours needed for ME.. It seems to be somewhere between 5-7 hours.

Agreeing so much and loving this!

I use one of those "goal oriented" (paper) agenda's, which can keep me clear when I feel mentally cluttered on meh.

Clean working space is such a huge MUST. Clutter feels (to me) like huge distraction.

Also keeping HYDRATED. I feel it sounds so cliche but really is noticeable when becoming dehydrated or not fueling your body properly.

Personally I try to stay away from any media screens before sleeping and chose a book or some audio to listen to and prepare for the next day.

Good list this,

Thank you for sharing this!

Agree with everything. I think you’ll love this podcast about how to win the day by setting up 3-5 goals everyday. If you get them done you mark the day as a W in your calendar. If you don’t, you mark it as a L.

The MFCEO Project by Andy Frisella | #100to0 on Apple Podcasts

I think the good stuff is at the 30min mark.

5 W’s in a week = You won the week

I like the idea cuz it sets me up to compete with myself. I don’t like it cuz it immediately triggered my “Ive done something good I should go have fun now” temptation.

Hey JP!

I totally agree with you.
I noticed that with a "To do list" it's harder to waste time and I'm more productive; also, I'm more satisfied and happy when the list is complete.
I didn't know about the Magic Tomato...I'll try it!
Thanks for sharing :)

It’s not that great anyways. I pretty much summed up the whole thing. Just focus on getting your goals met and when you do get all three of all five in one day you mark the day as “won”.

I’m glad we have the forum. I’m sure irl this would be awkward af.

Great post @jpanarra .

I think to be most productive it is important to make sure you don't neglect three core daily elements.

Diet - Sleep - Exercise

  • A good diet of quality varied food stuffs so you get plenty of essential vitamins.
  • Quality sleep - which usually means having a set time for bed every evening.
  • Daily exercise - even if it is just a decent length walk. In fact walking is amazing for thought processes as the beneficial increase in blood flow effects our entire body including the brain.

Haha, I love awkward moments. Thats when I see people at their most vulnerable and makes them even more so relatable... Me being deaf makes this a regular occurrence for me because too many people are concerned about offending me rather than doing what needs to be done to communicate..

Ah yeah exercise, My dog and my love of sports takes care of that for me.. I don't think about it but you're right my daily dog walk is a routine that gets my blood flowing.
