. . . that Home Theater Guy
openly advertising that all the RD regulars are leaving the forum.

Jeeze, can you believe the *nerve*!?

Kimber, ya should have been at this year's get together.

I would have really enjoyed seeing the look on your face while he was cussing at us.

And I would have enjoyed chatting about it with yas afterwards. :)

Most execs I know like to cuss
and tend to go off from time to time.

Was just reading Sun Tzu Was A Sissy
(very funny book, don't expect much learning though)
and nodding my head.

The way I handle the foaming at the mouth exec
is to look at him like he's lost his mind
(you know... THAT look)
and not say anything.
Then after they spew,
I neatly (and abruptly) change the subject
to something more professional.

If it doesn't make them feel like a jack a$$,
it makes them look like one.

Re: Wimmin

Kimber-

I didn't actually see foam coming out of his mouth . . . ;)

I actually felt like he was having a Marines flashback or something, treating us like a bunch of worthless maggots.

That approach might have worked for a group of 18 year olds.

But we were a slightly different audience. :)

-Russ H.

PS I like your approach.

A few folks in our group tried to change the subject to more professional things, more than once.

They did this after things cooled down, when they thought he was done ranting.

He just told each of them to "Shut the f*ck up!" and started in again.

Me, I just stared him dead straight in the eye throughout his entire rant.

Made him all the madder.

Hoo-ah.

At least he didn't make me clean the latrines. :)

Re: Wimmin

Oh, jeez, Russ,
now I'm really regretting skipping the get together.
I haven't had someone have the ba$$$ to tell me to F*** off in forever.
That would have been worth the flight in itself.

Only consolation is that
the hubby would have been there
so I doubt I would have had a chance to play anyway.
He likes a good scrap more than I do
(he made a dirty politics playing male manager cry last week)
and tends to be a tad bit over protective.

: )

Yeah, it was strange.

Since we were in "his" place, we kinda felt he could do whatever he wanted.

I did actually wonder at one point if he was going to come back and try and physically remove me (he was yelling "Get out of here! I don't want you working for my company! LEAVE! NOW!")

I didn't get up.

I actually weighed the consequences of what I would do to my mentor if he came at me with marine-style judo death chops.

I think he might have been surprised.

************

When all is said and done, I'm glad he didn't attack me.

When he "fired" me, I realized that I was not the object of his rant.

Since I didn't, actually, um, work for him.

He knew that.

So whatever was upsetting him went much, much deeper than a 45 year old guy throwing him a softball question about Cashflow 101.

But, as I said before, I am thankful for it.

Taught me a whole lot about the guy.

Re: Wimmin

:smilielol:

Russ, you HAVE to get those "familiar" words as your ringtone

But hey, that wouldn't do it... you'd be just fired, not "f$%#ing fired"

Ok, enough hijacking of this thread for now...

going back to topic... My wife has been learning a lot about investments lately, and she does not stop to surprise with the way she sees and analyzes deals. Definitively she has a completely different way of thinking, and she can see things that would never occur to me. I'm glad I now can ask her to help me verify my investment ideas and she will almost always come back with a "small detail" that I had not thought about. She may not post here, but she reads it now and then.
