I just completed the first day if Insanity.

OMG this was just the fitness test. I almost puked. Tomorrow will be interesting.

Who else has done it?

I started it a few months back and only complete 10 days...

I just got started today as a way to feel fitter and be better for the holidays.

EDIT:
The fit test is a baseline to see how you are when you start and you are supposed to perform this every two weeks to track progress.

These are the exercises and reps I got:

1. Switch Kicks = 55 --not the best form though
2. Power Jacks = 40
3. Power knees = 60
4. Power jumps = 30
5. Globe jumps = 5 rotations (20 jumps)
6. Suicide jumps = 10
7. Push up jacks = 0 --couldn't do it, was barely breathing
8. Low Plank oblique = 33

I am supposed to improve these number in the next two weeks. We'll see.

Here is the sheet they provide:
fit+test+pics.jpg

EDIT 2: Adding the schedule here in case people wonder how it goes.

Day 2: Plyometric Cardio Circuit -- Done.

I did probably 55-60% of the whole thing.

I tried to go hard in what I could, but definitely was not capable of keeping up with the speed and rythm of the DVD.

Feel tired but happy.

If I don't post anything tomorrow, call the coroner. You will find my body lying on my bed.

Progress update off.

Yesterday I did not do the routine. It was my soccer night.

I can tell this, so far, is a big success.

Usually I would be OK the first 20 minutes of the match.

Last night I played the whole match. I think I was in great condition for 60-70 minutes of the match. Only the last 20 were tough and I ran out of air.

Huge difference, especially after only doing the exercising for less than a full week.

Very excited with the progress.

After all, if you recall, this was the reason I decided to start following this routine, to feel better and being able to enjoy the soccer matches.

So far, mission is being accomplished. Very happy with progress.

I tried it a couple of years ago and almost passed out during the fit test. The next day I almost passed out again. So I decided it's not for me if I want to stay alive. However I know people how finished it with some great results.

I did P90X for a 2.5 months at the beginning of the year. Really a great program. About to start another round.
Couple guys at work do Insanity and it seems like a really great program for toning and/or losing weight. P90X is the same, but you gain a little more muscle in the process.

Oh and BnP will get everyone motivated from what i hear. Thing 1 (snowbank) and thing 2 (RealOG) have been battling who will be the most homoerotic heterosexual male there in a compression shirt. Since I probably wont be there, they are now battling for 1st place instead of 2nd :p

You will get in good cardio shape that's for sure.
That is the purpose for now... my soccer nights leave exhausted too soon and I can't enjoy the game as I am used to.

You will need to mix in weights somewhere as it doesn't build much muscle just makes you super skinny.
I will take that for now. At around 23% BF, I am OK with going skinny for some time and rebuild from there.

Finished it.
Are you doing any other routines? Did you just do one round?

I trained mma for 2 years and played sports all of my life and found the Insanity workout program to be the hardest thing I have ever done physically and mentally. Very few people can complete the 8 week program straight. Let alone do the workouts properly with the right form. That is the key btw.

So more power to you if you complete it and YES you will see results both physically and mentally. You will feel great after completing it. I finished the program and now use it about 3x a week and hit the gym on the other 3 days. It's a great program to add into your regimen, however i'd suggest finishing the program in its entirety first.

Also, i'd suggest doing this basic diet that gives instant results:

Do eat daily:

More greens (spinach, kale, broccoli)
Fruits (bananas, apples, oranges)
Baked chicken and fish
Whole grains (multi grain bread, cereals)

*take one fruit/vegtable shake in the morning and one protein shake after workout (h20 only, no milk) and another protein shake with half h20 half fat free milk at night.

Do not eat anymore:

Soda
white rice, white bread
anything with high sugar (including concentrate juices)
frozen dinners

This basic diet along with working out 5x/week will give anyone instant results. I can give intermediate/advanced diets that are easy to follow as well.

Cheers and good luck on the Insanity!

Today's routine:

Pure Cardio -- Done

Man, this is tough.

I feel great though.

My legs are on fire, I am super tired, and very very happy with the progress.

Thanks all for the support.

Knowing I have to come back here and report progress makes a huge difference for me. I really appreciate you taking the time to read about my progress.

Last night had another Cardio Power & Resistance routine.

Somehow I was not feeling it, but still went through it.

I know I have a long way to go in regards to regaining strength in my legs. I can see some muscle definition that had gone missing for years. Still the jumping exercises are a challenge to me and I take it easy on those.

My upper body exercises are also a new experience to me... push ups are a big challenge (always have been) so I am working more on keeping the right form instead of speed and repetitions. I know I will get better.

This morning the scale says I lost another 0.6 lbs and my beer belly has started to show some cracks... I can see some straight lines there.

The exercising combined with the paleo diet have also reduced my cheeks. I feel stronger too.

So far so good.

I love Insanity!

Definitely a great workout. I've been doing it once a year for the last two years and will do it again in January. It's a great way to jump start the year.

As has already been mentioned, the only bad thing about it is the lack of weights.

Also, get some Accelerade. I'd drink one before, during, and/or after each workout. It really helps with energy and recovery.

For what it's worth the guy who wrote the book "Wheat Belly" is convinced that grains and wheat are actually terrible for you and the root cause of a ton of the health problems we see today. His followers seem a little cult like but it's hard to argue with some of their results, if they are legit. Lots of people claiming serious weight loss, no more GI issues, cure of diabetes, benefits for arthritis, etc etc.

This is currently one of my favorite threads. Mostly because I'm really lazy and I needed a fire under my a$$ in order to get back into the whole exercise thing (I'm not afraid to admit it!).

Should this be part of the "Living Life" series?

???? I googled it and could not find anything related to this....

Yeah that isnt the official name for it. essentially when you squat heavy weight and you squat real deep, your entire body will be under strain. This sends a signal to your Central Nervous System that it needs to grow to accomodate this load. You can overload your CNS by working it to hard or not recovering well enough.

Cardio Recovery -- Done

Not sure why he calls it 'recovery', maybe cause I need professional support to help me recover after it.

Just 33 minutes but everything from my hip down is shaking.

Feel good!

Keep up the good work man! Your doing great. Pure cardio is the worst.. doesn't matter how many times I have done it, dead tired afterwards but feel great.

Yeah accountability is key! In the mean time work it into making it feel normal to do the excersize and feel odd if you have not. That's how you keep it for life!

If you played soccer, consider that your workout and stick to what that plan has. Correct rest is as important as the workout itself. Thats when muscle actually burns resources and rebuilds itself. It also staves off injury. Good job so far, I am impressed!

Keep it up. You inspired me to restart p90x. Halfway through my second week.

Get you some joint support (glucosamine chondroitin) at walmart for like 15 bucks. Great for the knees.

Not to be a buzz kill, but you guys would be much better off just getting on a solid lifting routine and watching your nutrition closely. May not be as exciting, but you'll see results MUCH faster and are MUCH less likely to get injured.

I've only been lifting for a year 5x/week and I've gotten some pretty insane results. I also (luckily ) haven't suffered any injuries. Check out leangains.com, seriously changed my life.

This is silly, I do the same as you. But i would not recommend it. One size does not fit all in the fitness industry. Andviv doesn't want to have to goto a gym, spend tons of time figuring out macros and recomps and all that shit. Its too complex for most. A lot of people want to follow something vs spend tons of time trying to de-construct it. Thus why programs sell, and if the users stick to it, they will see great results.

I've been through Insanity once before it definitely lives up to its reputation. The problem that I had last time is that I didn't stick with it after the program was over. This thread has inspired me to start the program again and I'm almost done with week two. I can tell that I'm making progress. That said, I'm doing things a little differently this time around. First of all, I'm taking it more at my own pace instead of trying to keep up with Shaun T. The very first time I did the fit test last year, I had to stop because I started to feel sick. This time around, I take breaks when I need them and then I jump back in when I'm ready. So far, so good.

My question to you Andviv, is what are your plans after you complete the program? Will you restart it?

Keep up the good work!

Exactly my situation. I tried it months ago and was dead after week one.

This time I am taking it slowly and still is a challenge.

Now the problem has been making sure I get to it as many times as possible. Always something seems to show up and screw with the planned activities, so it is a challenge. Sometime I skip it cause I don't seem to find the time to do it.

My question to you Andviv, is what are your plans after you complete the program? Will you restart it?
No clue yet... I first need to finish it before I even worry about that.
