There had to be room for an alternative. And sure enough, after some digging, I found at least 6 competitors who have done exactly that.
This trend of 'resurrecting' defunct websites while avoiding the pitfalls of the predecessor seems to be gaining traction.
A new MySpace is now getting millions of visitors per month (SpaceHey)
There's also the recent relaunch of Digg, which could go either way, but looks promising nonetheless.
For the veterans here who remember some of the older (now defunct) brands of the web, have you ever identified one in particular or considered replicating this strategy?
