I'll admit, I haven't been tracking so far this week. But it's better to finish the last two days strong than to leave this week completely blank. People who wait until Jan 1st to go to the gym never make progress anyway....

Sorry for not posting the past few days, completely forgot to do so.

I recently put the pieces together for why I've been down on the ropes in terms of the fastlane business. The biggest issue that I've faced was that I was setting goals way too unrealistically for things that I glanced at, but never looked at closely. I kept thinking that I'd reach my goals if I put my heart into it and then it would turn into something valuable in a very short time frame, when the process really takes a year or two depending on the market. I was trying to run before I learned to walk.

I'm going to slow down my thought process a bit and take the time to look at things before I jump onto any bandwagon that I glance at and think is a good investment.

Another thing that's been improving my mood is being able to go to the gym more frequently. It's a nice way to get rid of stress as well as motivate myself in getting stronger. Just need to eat more in order to bulk up further.

bad week and I'm getting more and more annoyed that I have such a bad self control that I can't even reach the simple goals I set myself.

I'm starting now with a daily proactivity analysis. This should help me to finally increase my self control and my results over the longterm.

I don't know if anybody read my posts from last month but just a little update for those who did. - I prepared for a scholarship last month and this week I got the conformation :D. This means monthly income for only a bit of work until the end of my study *__*.

What can I improve next week?
  • daily analysis of proactivity -> increase in discipline
  • weekly plan is not an recommendation - it is my obligation

@FastNAwesome - time to shine my boy :star:

I finally started working on my business this weekend.
Didn't measure time as I finally got busy actually working.

Will start from tomorrow though.

Goals:
-cook at least THREE times a week-
MET

-Take supplements TWO times a day- MET

-sleep at least 6 hrs a night- MET, but messed up sleeping and wake-up times

-one email/sales copy breakdown- NOT MET

-at least one hr A DAY on studying for college-NOT MET, didn't spread them out evenly, mostly cramped multiple topics in a stretch of a few hours, but it is sufficient so far

-Read up to THREE educational emails a day (not including email copywriting ones from Settle or AWAI)- MET, except for Mon, Wed, Sat,Sun

-walk more than 1000 steps- MET

-go to gym at least 2 times a week- NOT MET

-Prayer journal/ Bible reading or sharing -> Only on Monday- Bible

Thank God somehow I'm still updating my progress here!

As I said, due to a lack of initiative of my brother on doing some long-term family errands- leaving me to do all the work, my study prep for my exams started very late, but I managed to prep sufficiently for my first two exams.

Now I've two more exams left- Investment management and Project Management.

I haven't recorded the exact details of the time taken or topics reviewed successfully for exams on the Excel sheet, but I have checklists and records of such on paper.

Curiously, I took less time to study for exams than expected. One topic takes like....1-2 hours to brush through notes, Active Recall (go see wtfprofessor and Cal Newport to understand this concept) and some textbook exercises...or even as short as 1/2 hour.

But it still messed up sleeping hours...I slept and awoke at very bad times, where I was more likely to lie around and procrastinate.

An instance on that happened on last Friday...after yesterday's Forecasting exam, I just crashed in bed and slept the whole damned day. It was surprising, given that I avoided burning the midnight oil for the exam the day before, but maybe my body still has 'that lazy college guy' attitude to kick out.

Because of that, I missed one whole day for exam study, and had to reroute my plans on how to cover the remaining topics. Will have to rush certain exam topics.

Although I did managed to do some home-cooking, most of the time I ate out because I needed to study. Homecooking can be short, but it somehow takes some energy from me that could be used for studying.

But I'm not sure if eating out more often than usual is having an effect on me...my hair and back have started itching whenever it gets hot or I get stressed, which is something that hasn't happened before. I've beefed up my supplements, but we'll see if this subsides after the exams.

I'm also very sore over missing out on prayer journal/Bible in the last few days.
I'm feeling negative vibes going to my mind again.

To summarize your line of thought: you want to stop playing video games (I assume after you haven't played it for half a year).
Your plan to stay consistent in resistance of video games is by breaking your consistency by over indulging in a video game (finishing it in some days).

And all this is your excuse for not tracking your habits (which would lead to become the person you want to become and live the life you want to live.)

Mhhh interessting approach - maybe I can apply it as well.
(hopefully you get the irony)

Correct me if I misunderstood your message but if I understood you right then I suggest you to overthing why you are part of this community and what are your priorities in your life.
Thanks for your feedback mate I appreciate it. I admit it sounds a bit suspicious, but I think I've garnered enough consistency, routine and motivation techniques over the last months that I can afford to break out a little (although admittedly it's already a bit longer than I'd planned). Also it's really not the kind of game I used to be addicted to, it's more like reading a novel.
Anyways, if I keep F*cking up, you can call me out on that. Let's see.

I've been thinking up possible ways that I can keep moving towards in order to establish my business goal but most of them will involve me taking some detour down the line. I'm going to hold off on starting up anything until I get myself some more capital since the thought of whether or not I'll be able to pay the bills this month isn't very fun.

One idea that I've been considering is to be hired as a car salesman. Going into something like that will help me out down the line as I'll be more comfortable closing deals as well as working with high value products. It'll be tough but it should net me some valuable skills.

My mindsets been doing well since I've been working out like crazy. It's only a shame that I haven't been gaining that much weight since I've been more or less stuck at 150lbs. I'd eat more but right now my eyes are still set on the bills.

If I do start working as a car salesman, I'll probably just extend my frequency of posting to cover a month rather than continually flood this thread.
Just got hired at the car salesman place, so I'll be changing the frequency of my posts to once a month

Haven't figured out how I'll manage the table logging my routines, but I'll probably just make a spreadsheet for it.

There is a lot of red in my week and I'm especially concerned with my three porn blackouts. - I hope that I found a good way of dealing with my next porn urge in my proactivity analysis.

I'm happy that I started with accumulating my hours worked. In comparison with last week I worked in total ~2h more and I'm happy about that. Still I didn't reach my goals but I'm getting closer.

What can I improve next week?
  • I didn't work often in the morning due to oversleeping therefore I will take care more about my sleep
  • Also I recognized that a lot of porn outrages started with entertainemnt and my consumption of it. I will start to consume entertainment with awareness like this I prevent of loosing myself in it
@bornoim I'm curious to see your results next week after your high announcement and you should define in which specific case you will pay the 100$ - so you can't talk yourself out of it afterwards ;)

@FastNAwesome I'm glad you are back - don't pressure yourself to much 7h is a good start. Better 7 hours every week than 20 hours one week and 3 weeks of F*cking up.

1. Cooking meals
This has been one of my hardest habits to maintain....given that I have to cook for a roommate brother who hates cooking with a passion, and keeps telling me to go out to eat....let alone his daily habits.

I have said before here that I'm considering pursuing the r/mealprepsunday idea....preparing meals for the week, and storing them in the fridge.

This would ease access to home-cooked healthy meals a lot easier, and help me control costs and choice of food to cook!

But the challenge is keeping the stored food fresh.

The subreddit for this has a stickied blog guide that explains some fundamentals of meal prepping:

I'm considering starting a thread on TFLF both for accountability, and to fill in an existing gap for the need for us folks to cook instead of eating out all the time- it doesn't need to be as time-consuming or difficult as it should be.

For now, I went shopping for microwave-friendly (although I won't do microwave), heat-tolerant, BPA-free containers, and found a few.

Today, I cooked dinner a bit earlier, and cooked a bunch of sauce-heavy foods to store for the week- the redditors claim that sauce foods tend to last longer.

Meats are separate from the vege....if one goes bad, it won't affect the other.

2. Copywriting practice
Now is Q4...lots of email sequences for promotions being deployed left and right.
Daily emails from companies popping up in my inbox more furiously.

I should now take more time to study emails not just based on Seinfield emails, but on the sales funnel/sequence.

This would have my email learning by application, through re-writes, slow down, but should get me some quality insights.

With the financial world up in arms, what with the trade war and all, financial copywriting , especially from Agora, has become rather interesting.

I realised I probably can't pursue a niche in that field yet....I'm still working my way through understanding the full picture of macroeconomics, and the more complicated instruments like futures and options. My ongoing college major in finance did help show me some basics, but that's just it.

3. An opening for networking?
I have been going to a man's meetup at church called Men of Valor.

Mostly consists of late 30s to 50s year-old men.
Went for a few of their talks, mostly focused on topics edging towards Fastlane principles- and even a few successful businessmen and politicians popped by for speeches.

They have recently opened up a 'discipleship program' for 2020- and looking at the WhatsApp, the list of people who signed up, not many takers.

The program offers lots of stuff like accountability sessions, more study on the Word and of course, fostering relationships.

This is the first time I have seen such a program, especially one by the church.
I should be signing up...that means I'd have to scramble for meetings and literally kick my own a$$ lol.

4. Upwork
I realised a major weakness in my profile is not the marketing of my 'slight edge', but how I communicate and execute the work breakdown process to my clients, and expand and upsell from the first gig.

In other words, I didn't plan enough for long-term.

Most freelance material I have read mostly focuses on the first 'bang' and not the 'bangs' after. Guess that rubbed me off the wrong way.

Will have to work on that.

items marked with * are essential, and I need to pay money if I don't do them, except in cases where I simply forgot them or something with higher priority required more time.

What to improve:

I often forget about things, in order to improve this I will plan certain taks at fixed times. Tasks which I will do at fixed times are: half an hour meditation or theory, logic, other stuff, goals/projects

Next week I will also track when I go to sleep
I'll have to wake up at 8.30 every day at the latest.

It seems I don't have enough time to do everything I want. In the future I will only do half an hour of other stuff per day, but for additional focus I convert that to 2 hours every 4 days.
goal course and project ideas etc. ... I'll only do half an hour of this or that per day.

I don't want to take hot showers anymore and will penalize myself with 100€ if I misstep in the future.

I also noticed it's harder to maintain focus if I trash my brain with information from different activities and studies. To remedy this I will do side projects only after a certain hour. I'd say 6 pm

So still grinding on my web app that I'm hoping will land me a job or at least an internship.

@Intax
As you can see, I'm not terribly strict with myself when it comes to paying the 100€. It's still very beneficial to me so ::shrug::
So I'm not excactly micromanaging myself with it, but it keeps me from slacking off and helps me keeping my promises (although I don't rely on it.. or maybe I do). The latter part is especially important, as trusting yourself (expectancy) plays a big role in motivation. motivation = value*expectancy/(delay*impulsivity)

-Take supplements TWO times a day- Generally MET, but only took once for Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri

-sleep at least 6 hrs a night- MET

-one email/sales copy breakdown- Met, except for Tues and Thurs

-Read up to THREE educational emails a day (not including email copywriting ones from Settle or AWAI)- MET, except for Mon

-walk more than 1000 steps- MET, except for Mon

-go to gym at least 2 times a week- NOT MET, only went for a treadmill run on Wed

-Prayer journal/ Bible reading or sharing -> NOT MET...only had a small session on Thurs

I'm ashamed to put it this way...but I'm pressured to spend time with family.

I have issues with them, yet not as bad as some abusive/dysfunctional cases.

I have a list of online courses to brush up on, and meetups to go to (Malaysian Fastlaners, looking at ya!), but I'm facing 'passive pressure' to take time off with family.

While I know its good to do so, a voice in my head says, 'What's the point letting precious Fastlane time go, just to laze away on holiday?'

Going for a planned family trip would mess up a shit-ton of habits, and they have had already had a setback with my staying with a brother with shitty work and living habits.

BTW, the bad habits have caught up with him...he's now getting cut to pieces with 3 assignments, 1 video project and an entire Student Council department crap. I never had that much work piled up so inefficiently before, save for exams, so...I guess he made his bed and has to lie in it.

Maybe I need therapy or to talk with the Men of Valor group when the Christmas lunch comes round soon...

Okay, I've been lurking for some time, trying to take notes of my sleep habits and some other things but I can't stay on tracks!

So hello everybody! I'm entering the "competition"! I hope it will improve my commitment. Here's my spreadsheet...

- I'm trying to wake up earlier in the morning. I work from home, and I start my shift at 9am... I managed to go to bed earlier, but I can't get up from bed. I'm just so sleepy all the time! My goal is to sleep from 11pm to 7am, more or less. Today I'm going to try putting my phone far from my bed and my reach and let's see if it works.

- Project column is empty and will stay like that for a while, since for me it will be more like a journey.

- Work out: I'm still looking for a course that I like... I tried one gym but it was too crowded, so I'm going to look for another one.

- I'm on a diet! Gluten, dairy, nichel free - tailored-made by a nutritionist. I am only allowed to weight myself on her scale, so the weight column will be updated once every two weeks. Next appointment is on 12/10!

- I'll start reading again from today!

Can't say I've worked effectively the past week, I will finish my website the next few days and I'm already somewhere else with my mind. I'll have to combat that with tighter time constraints
A huge improvement so far is that my plans and time estimates actually work out, even though I can't say that I like the fact that I've now spent another two weeks and more on my webproject..

@Intax
What's the matter bro, did you have a bad week?

Hey @bornoim, thanks for the mention. The problem last week wasn't that I had a bad week. The problem was that I had a bad sunday ^^
On sunday I analyse my week and when I F*ck up on sunday my analysis and this post suffers.

On the weekend I had an private coaching which gave me some interessting insights. I want to focus the changes in my life on a deeper level and in the next month I will priorities very hard because of the comming exams.

Escpecially my last week was pretty bad.

What can I do to improve ?
  • execute the insights of the coaching (focus on a deeper level, motivation, purpose,...)

Time to jump in!

I've started building good habits a few weeks ago, it's going good and more accountability should help.

Habits:

1. Get up before 5 AM, Sleep before 9 PM. Every Single Day
2. Do 10-20 min Yoga every day
3. Do 10 meditation every day
4. One Meal A Day (from today onwards).

I will do my best to update every Monday.

On Sunday I actually woke up at 10 but stayed in bed looking at the phone. Still, 11am for me on a day off is a great achievement!

Today I got up early because I had to take my car for its 2-year service, so it doesn't really count...

This thread is just pure gold about why some people make it and some don't.

I said I was going to start with this, got everything setup and never really executed. This is probably a major reason for some of my failures.

Just food for thought. I will be reporting this week on friday.

UPDATE FOR 25 Nov-1-Dec 2019 Habits tracker:
Had quite the family trip to plan, and more errands that disrupted habits a bit.
I've had been complaining about the later in my recent posts, but I found a trip to somewhere different, more or less with family, was a good breather and experience....

In the next few days, I'll track my meetups and perhaps Upwork dealings, now I have more time on that.

Haven't prepared r/mealprep food for the upcoming week yet, but I've picked up a few good recipes to try out, so it won't be bland and eventually discourage myself from prepping home-cooked food.

I also probably need to cull my email list...there's too much content to read or study (for copywriting).

Bible reading is at a standstill...maybe because the passage (John 17) I am reading is stiff and wordy- and I never covered it thoroughly even in my old Sunday school.
Maybe a Youtube Sermon or two might lighten it up.

-cook at least THREE times a week- MET

-Take supplements TWO times a day- Generally MET, but only took once for Wed and Sun

-sleep at least 6 hrs a night- MET

-one email/sales copy breakdown- Met, except for Wed, Fri, Sun

-Read up to THREE educational emails a day (not including email copywriting ones from Settle or AWAI)- MET, except for Fri and Sat

-walk more than 1000 steps- MET

-go to gym at least 2 times a week- NOT MET

-Prayer journal/ Bible reading or sharing at least 5 times a week -> NOT MET...only did my journal on Fri and Sat

Coachings seems like a great idea. In a way it also provides an even stronger form of accountability. Gotta do that as well some time

And that's pretty much it! I was so tired this week after work, and I went out for Christmas shopping too, so no reading was done.

I cheated twice on my diet (I am Italian after all, can't say no to pizza), I'm having my bi-weekly check on Tuesday...

Update for 2/12 (Mon) to 8/12 (Sun)

GOALS
-cook at least THREE times a week- MET

-Take supplements TWO times a day- MET

-sleep at least 6 hrs a night- MET, but more issues to that...

-one email/sales copy breakdown- Skipped Mon, Thurs, Fri

-Read up to THREE educational emails a day (not including email copywriting ones from Settle or AWAI)- Skipped Fri

-walk more than 1000 steps- MET

-go to gym at least 2 times a week- NOT MET, only went for a treadmill run on Wed

-Prayer journal/ Bible reading or sharing 5 times in the week
->
NOT MET...only did my prayer journal on Wed and Sat, a brief reading on Tuesday

Very horrendous week.

I slept late a few nights, due to F*cking around on non-Fastlane stuff, and even though I got enough rest, I woke up super later or dozed off (some of them are unrecorded) in the evening.

It's like a crazy cycle....sleep late, wake up late, have less time for stuff...

All I can do is to try to go to bed early to hopefully reset the sleep cycle, but that means I might have to cut down some activities for the evening.

On the bright side, I went out to resurrect my networking spots, ever since university exams took its toll.

Was glad to find some folks still remember me lol.

I found a few nuggets on networking from Reddit, and turns out I really, really, should set formal time to go meet new people.

As of this last week (see tracker file), here's the following networking stats:

Wednesday (4/12)
Reconnected: 2
Newly met: 2

Friday (6/12)
Reconnected: 2
Newly met and follow-up: 4

Saturday (7/12)
Reconnected: 1
Newly met: 1

For now, I'll just use these simple measures to track my networking habit.

I'll see if I can track actual conversions, i.e getting actual sales/opportunities to provide value, once my networking pool gets big enough, but they can come in different shapes and sizes.

On my habits Excel sheet, I'll be revamping it.

I'll remove my college and R-programming related habits from the tracker, since it is break now, and I will soon discuss my underloading options (take less units next semester) with my course advisor.

I'll also remove 'Reading at least 3 educational emails a day'.
It's not to say I'll stop reading- I'll still give them a cursory read (especially those for copywriting and finance), but I've found them to be somewhat a drag on my time, and somehow does not seem to lend weight to Fastlane.

Habits to be added:
-networking stats

Goal: Reconnect or meet at least 1 person a week
(I'll raise the bar soon once I can keep this up)

-online courses progress
Hours spent or topics covered
(I've got a few which I got over Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which are quite important in revamping my freelancing and some Fastlane aspects...but the sleep problem and some appointments drained time from them)

-Upwork gigs
I'll just track proposal converts or work progression for now, until I have enough data to calculate an average figure to beat.

I've no idea of a good goal for conversion rates, but last time was like 3 out of 6 or 7 proposals.
Which was expected...2 or 3 of the prospects weren't exactly prime candidates to help in the first place.

@Intax
If you're too lazy to make a comprehensive post, why not simply write that instead of waiting until next week (in case you're posting next week).
If you feel your performance suffices and you don't need accountability anymore, that's of course another matter. But I doubt that's the case, or is it?
