The videos are going to be book reviews/summaries coupled with other alternative/enterpreneurial minded thoughts.

I'm very open to doing anything and everything on this channel as far as profiling people, talking about history or discussing major company wins/collapses.

Here are the videos I've made so far:

Any feedback whether stylistic or critiquing anything in the videos is more than welcome

Hi, my I ask you what your unique value proposition is?

There are already a lot of guys out there doing the book review thing and unless you have a unique new angle it will be hard to gain any traction.

Anyways thumbs up for taking some action.

Honestly, pretty boring videos.

And show yo face.

Why?

And why would I do that? What value is my face adding talking about these subjects as opposed to animations?

Hi, my I ask you what your unique value proposition is?

There are already a lot of guys out there doing the book review thing and unless you have a unique new angle it will be hard to gain any traction.

Anyways thumbs up for taking some action.

Apart from FightMediocrity and illacertus there is no one else doing animated book reviews

Unique value proposition is as follows:
Deeper insights and if a video gains traction will make more
More frequent video
Covering books already NOT covered by them (or anyone else)
Tieing it to other books I have read
Not just doing book reviews/summaries as in talking about other subjects

I can't keep my attention. Sorry, 2:41 I was just not focusing on it. I would put some music in the background offsetting your voice or something. Maybe it's just to many pictures and words lumped together. I watch a lot of videos but usually they are seeing the person, or just a cover on the video, with people teaching something or learning something from it. Like even a podcast in voice, If I'm forcing myself to watching your video. There's a problem.

Love the review of the 6 Principles of influence book. I think what you are doing is valuable....and the only thing that came up to me was also my attention span being short.

And it's not necessarily the length of the video. I watched the following video last night start to finish, and I think the reason why is because 1-The person speaking is someone who is talking about his personal experiences that parallel and reinforce the book he is talking about...and 2- the channel has cool backgrounds (for at least part of this video at least) in different places. Most people want that 'entertainment factor' on youtube on top of the information:

You have a LOT of info on the screen at one time. I would keep it really basic and try use more images/graphics to illustrate your points.

I think your market is someone who doesn't want to read, or they would just look at the book, but prefers to receive the information visually. Keep it as visually appealing as possible. Cool moving whiteboard diagrams are the best for this. Insert some emotion and personal stories to build your brand and keep your content original.

I think an area in this market that is overlooked is success stories. Do examples of people who started with nothing and trace their successes and failures while showing the mindsets and resources they used. If you started off with famous well known people who could quickly get some big views. 'How _______ made their millions in 5 minutes' (use the same video name formula consistently)

Example 'How Dr Dre made his millions'
- Background
-Hustling skills
-Challenges
-First Big Break
-Next major steps
-What separates him from the rest
-Quotes, diagrams, financial info, business moves, articles etc

Once you have a few done start linking them at the end of the video with those internal box links that people use. They are really effective and getting people to check out several of your videos.

Edit: you could double up and combine a famous person with a book. 'How Jay Z used the principles of The Lean Start Up to make millions'. You get double views by catering to two different search topics and the cross section would be really interesting to watch. An example of principles being applied is always more entertaining/watchable then direct 1-7 type lists.

Why show your face ?

Because 80% of the communication is non verbal.
Your industry is self help whether you like it or not. With your face you can convey confidence and success.
Not showing your face = lack of confidence / you are hiding something.

You are targeting the masses, 99% of your public just want an emotional spike and will never take action. Do you really think you'll make money by reading robotically what's written on the screen ? This is exactely what teachers do !

Look at the SUTPID motivational speech made by shia labeouf, everybody likes it ! The actual content ? 0,00 ! The guy keep repeating the same shit !

Motivation without actual content ( or very few, or outdated, or inefficient content ) is working.
Massive content delivered with emotions and motivational speeches can work even beter.
Massive content delivered in a boring way will NEVER work.

People want to dream you go this ?

You should advertise your YT channel like a "999 must-read books review" where you are basically making a summary of said books. People all heared about " think and grow rich " or " rich dad poor dad " or " 4 h work week " but they dont have time to read them all ( or they are too lazy to do it).

You could probably have a viable YT channel by making review of those books, delivered with massive confidence, and most of all EMOTION. Emotion sells !

" Oh I like to see this guy's channel because I can actually learn about those best sellers ".
Reality: They look at your channel because they like you, because you are selling them some dream, because you convey confidence, because you look like you know about shit, because you give them HOPE.
WITH ONE RATIONAL argument: You make book review so it must contain some actual value.

Look at subway (the fast food) do people actually go there cuz its " healthy " ? NO ! most of the sandwitches are NOT healthy. The few healthy sandwiches are an EXCUSE for the customer to go there. He actually comes because the sandwitches are TASTY.

About your videos: learn video editing and add me some rythm !

When you say " 1. blalbabla, 2. blablala " you must:

1. HAVE A BIG a$$ SENTENCE POPING ON THE SCREEN
Add here a kick a$$ related metaphore then a "real" life example

2. ADD A SOUND EFFECT LIKE IF A BIG ROCK JUST FELT ON THE SCREEN

Add here a kick a$$ related metaphore then a "real" life example

3. BE DYNAMIC AND HAVE MOMENTUM
Add here a kick a$$ related metaphore then a "real" life example
Got the idea ? Special effect , explosion, tons of confidence, emotions, metaphors.

PS: you have a deep, great voice.

Great ideas from Fox and Deusex. OP, take notes!

It's not just about sharing what you learned from a book.

Be the Shia Labeouf that offers great content (not just screaming "do it" over and over).
  • Make an impact
  • Stir some emotion
  • Give massive value
  • Add some controversy
  • Add some drama
  • Tell awesome stories
Mention one thing in a famous book and tell people why it's completely STUPID. Just make sure you make some solid points.

People don't want the college professor teaching in the most boring way, they want the guy with a f*cking great personality!

And when you do get a decent amount of followers, build a tribe. Create your own website and community. Then create something that you can sell.

Good luck OP.

I really like the idea from Fox.

Some stuff about your videos:
It gives the feel of reading off lecture slides in a classroom.
Pause your 6 principles video @ 2:35, most people don't want to see a wall of text and pics. People these days have trouble paying attention, you have to deliver the information in the simplest and exciting way possible.

I think you've got a great voice, but it sounds too mono-toned, reading off a script word for word.

Keep hustlin cuz

P.S. @ 7:14, you wrote "Likeing", not "Liking"

I had a more in depth look through all your videos so I will give some more feedback. Thanks for the rep money too!

I am not certain what the end goal is here: paid views/links to a webpage/selling your own product but regardless the most important thing will be view counts.

This is just my thoughts on what I would do...

Limit my videos to 5 minutes or less.
People can't see the rating of a video on Youtube before clicking but they can see the video length. Anything longer then the length of a music video and people won't be clicking. Unfortunately 95% of your audience will have a 2 minute attention span.

Give it Viral Potential.
Link it to people and events that are well searched and have big view counts. I am Irish and one thing that is huge right now is anything Conor McGregor. If you don't know him he is a viral Irish UFC fighter.... The 10 lessons from Think and Grow Rich that built Conor McGregors Empire

I think this could get 500k-1 million views within two weeks if done right. Most of his videos are 300k to 2 million views. Quick, feel good, fan based, success entertainment. A cool whiteboard video with some interesting images spliced in and a good background motivational style song.

'In the book a lot of focus is put on visualizing your goals, in a 2010 interview a young Conor said he will one day wants to fight in the UFC, a few years later and he is now...'

Provide massive value by breaking down what smart moves people made in highly successful careers. People love a good rags to riches story. Wash and repeat the process for star Athletes, TV and Movie Stars, Instagram Celebrities and events of a viral nature...
How Fastlane Millionare tactics made Dan Bilzerian the king of Instagram

Focus on entertainment and share-ability.
If people really wanted the knowledge they would just read the book and wouldn't be on YouTube. Make it fast, fun and entertaining. Lots of links to share with friends and/or to lick on the next video. I know I have gone on YouTube binges when I click on 20-30 videos of a similar nature in a night. Just like a good casino don't let them leave the table till they are done. Watch a GoPro video and you will see how they do this. Again if your tactic is on view counts then better to have them click on 5 small videos then 1 20 minute video.

Pay someone to make a decent logo. Get the rights to a cool tune to use for a quick 5 second intro. Build a brand. I would maybe change the username too.

Just my thoughts. Best of luck.

Just a bit of an expansion on that one video idea...

Watch the first minute of this-

The first 10 seconds of this (note intro graphics and view count #)

You're a genius! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Got some gold nuggets from a couple of your posts.

The great thing about your advice is that it's not just for videos. You can do exactly the same to write awesome blog content!

Boring lecture tonality
Too much info at once - mind thinks this is going to consume a
lot of mental energy and wants me to exit

If this is your route then copy what the other guy is doing
exactly as is since its a winning formula - of course giving
your own perspective on the book and the key lessons

How about a green screen setup
images (1).jpg
.
I watch quite a few lengthy video courses from time to time and
the worst of them are the power point slide ones..seeing the presenter makes it
a lot easier to digest.
