In planning my next home build… Self-reliance somehow, is seeming more luxurious and appropriate for our times than the quintessential mansion in River Oaks.

Food, water and shelter is absolutely mandatory. Energy is next in line.

I’m looking at 100+ acres with a good water well, with excess tradable capacity. I’ll likely build my own solar/wind power plant on the property with excess, tradable capacity. Buy electric vehicles that can be fueled at home. Plant a massive garden, again with excess tradable capacity.

My property should take care of us first, then shower us in comfort second.

Strange. The exclusive “high society” neighborhood was always “the plan.”

I don’t want to just “hole up” or “live off the land” but I want to be able to if necessary.

So now I decided to test Instagram as a marketing tool. My view of Instagram is that it's mostly a place for women to sell their bodies and for guys to drool over them. Check out what kind of accounts Instagram suggested me to follow to "get inspired."

I had to scroll several more similar profiles before I started seeing normal people.

I don’t understand why almost all mass shootings are in the USA.

It’s disturbing, sad, infuriating to learn about the latest in TX. My heart goes out to all the families there. As a parent, no greater pain I can imagine.

It's well documented that certain ideas are contagious. Horrifying ideas about death seem to actually spread faster and lodge deeper in the human psyche. Then it's just about convenience. In the US guns are (obviously) much more convenient.

Sadly, the media does not go on and on and on and on about the ppl who have been saved in violent situations by concerned citizens who acted valiantly.

I was worried that guy was going to knock himself out when he got to the end!

In Mexico I saw a guy with one leg doing these batshit crazy flips and juggling at an intersection during red lights for cash. Yes I gave him some. If you can entertain me like that it's worth it. I told my wife "look what that guy can do with one leg, now look at all these fat asses driving around making excuses".

He was going fast, world record fast! And I was thinking how does it end? What’s his method of hitting the back wall, other than his head?

It is truly and amazing sight to see people who’ve been dealt a bad hand with health say “F*ck you, world - I’ll do it anyway!”

We all know we are capable of amazing things. But the brain stops us from pushing past some boundaries (central governor theory). It’s only by training our mind as much as your body that we get to impressive results. I can’t explain to anyone what it feels like when you really push your limits. The emotional lows are lower than we expect, the highs are higher too. It’s also something you remember and relive many times.

Scientists have demonstrated for the first time the ability to teleport quantum information across points in a network not physically connected to each other, according to research released yesterday. The advance marks a key step forward in the development of a scalable quantum internet.

The technology relies on a phenomenon known as quantum entanglement, which effectively links the state of separate particles—for example, which way a particle is spinning—into a collective super-state. Typically, quantum information can be passed through fiber optic cables via light particles, a method that incurs a significant loss as the light bounces around inside the cable.

Because there is no physical medium when particles become entangled, the method allows information to be passed without loss—critical for future networks involving thousands of quantum computers. The experiment successfully demonstrated the technique across three separate nodes.

Physics is always fascinating. I remember when I was in highschool, about 4 years ago, my Physcics teacher told me that there will be a time when we won't need electrical wires anymore to carry electricity from houses to houses. It will be all done wirelessly.

Quantum physics is a very fascinating and complicated topic.

Reading about quantum computers is funny because they seem to be explained only in two ways - 1) super complicated techno-babble and 2) super simplified techno-babble. For instance, I googled MJ's quote to find the original and came across an article with this text (emphasis mine):

First, the "teleporter" has to be prepared, which means that an entangled state must be created between Alice and Charlie. Alice and Charlie have no direct physical connection, but they are both directly connected to Bob. For this, Alice and Bob create an entangled state between their processors. Bob then stores his part of the entangled state. Next, Bob creates an entangled state with Charlie. So if I understand correctly:

Step 1: Prepare teleporter
Step 2: Create Entangled State
Step 3: Sleight of hand?????

Maybe they bought all of Canada's when they sold 100% of that barbaric relic a few years back.

Long ago I used to follow gold and silver stories closer, I recall there were really only 3 major buyers of reserves: China, India and Russia.
