I am currently tossing around an idea similar to MJ's site only using hotels instead of limo services.
Question 1. how exactly do you get the limo companies or in my case, hotels to pay you, if someone uses their services. It seems it would be difficult to track, who actually makes the reservation and weather or not they pay for it. It's probably easy and I just don't have the answer.
Question 2. How would you go about researching, to find if the people I'm targeting, would actually use my web site service.

I'm targeting a group of outdoors-men who would need specific accommodations at nation wide locations, with the hotels providing certain amenity's and safety of their equipment and themselves being the most important.
I'm thinking of putting the hotels on my site and calling the local sheriff dept. and posting the number of calls they have had to their hotels. any idea would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. If anyone would want to help in walking through the process and the site takes off, I would be more than willing to give a high percentage of the profits as payback and do what I could to help others in achieving success. I am bootstrapping this and have a very limited education on internet businesses. I've been soaking up as much as I can from this forum and give thanks to all the info I've read here. I do hope to be able to learn enough that I can help others in the future as you all have helped me, Thanks again.

I'm also interested in the business model MJ had for the limo company.

MJ:
Additionally, it would help you as well is to consider what % commission to charge the hotel and how should you go about determining the commission rate?

Did you have a GPS tracking option in your limo's?

How did you drive traffic to your limo site? I've got some rejections from forums for ads citing my idea being in violation of terms with previous clients.

What's important to look for in a web designer? Is internet marketing knowhow necessary?

Recon1987:

For you recon1987, wouldn't your site compete with the likes of priceline.com/booking.com?

I don't think so I'm targeting a specific niche market. I believe price line would not narrow down the amenities my customers would be looking for. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out when I get back from work.

Wow not many responses, it must be a very hard question to answer or its so easy, no one will take the time to answer. I thought someone might like to jump on the chance to make 40 to 50% of my profits. Guess I'll give it a little more time and if no one is interested, I'll see about removing this post.

How can someone help you with specifics if you are targeting a "specific niche"?

Question 1: Cookies or tracking image (fires on conversion) etc.

Question 2: Get your website up, drive traffic and see if they convert. Just get leads first.

Have you read any of the threads here regarding two sided markets? I believe your questions have already been answered.

Why don't you try booking a limo to experience the process from A to Z? When your driver arrives to pick you up you could try asking him (or her) how much their boss paid to acquire you as a customer.
