My biggest error as an international contractor

One of my biggest errors as an international contractor was becoming an international employee. That's it. Now my "employers" are wanting me to relocate to their country, Spain—which is a very good proposal when you know where I currently am.

Heck! this might be part of the plan if it could have happened with at least a UK company. In that case, I would know I wouldn't need to relocate anymore in the future because it's there where I want to make my projects.

Now, you see me searching for my replacement and restructuring my work to make me less indispensable. I want more to quit now, though I don't want to make them lose for no reason. In some effect, they have become my friends, and their company is still too small to afford surprises.

I have been preparing to quit once I started getting customers in my other project (I haven't got the first yet) and they have gotten another developer. Now it seems I have to do it quickly before relocation becomes inevitable. But everything is still uncertain. And the reason I am horrified is that it would be very stupid to not leave my country.

I don't know if this is an opportunity to get access to a better market, or a detour of my intents and purposes.

I don't follow, why not accept the relocation since you say that's a good opportunity, and continue your other work regardless?
