Hi all,
I own a small tutoring business and I have 3 Tutors (Including me) and 10 Students.
We all charge $60 a session. My margin is $20 from the other tutors, so the tutors earn $40 per session.
When cash is paid I need to follow up and get the tutors to pay me $20 per session.
When paid online I need to follow up and pay the tutors $40 per session, because I received my $20.
Let me put it in a easy format:
Tutor: Me
# of Students: 6
# of Students that Pay Cash: 4
# of Students that Pay Online: 2
Situation: Okay, because I collect all profits anyways.
Tutor: John
# of Students: 3
# of Students that Pay Cash: 2
# of Students that Pay Online: 1
Situation: I contact him weekly and we resolve over chat how much who owes who depending which students had their lessons.
Tutor: Matt
# of Students: 1
# of Students that Pay Cash: 1
# of Students that Pay Online: 0
Situation: Matt transfers $20 to me after every session.
I have contacted all parents to pay online but a lot of them find it convenient to pay by cash.
But this situation is really messy and with only two tutors to manage I'm finding it difficult to progress, let alone if I begin to scale.
I have begun compiling a Google Docs spreadsheet, where I share which students have paid online with my tutors, one of the parents pays 4 sessions ahead.
What I am asking is:
1. Should I force only one payment system? Cash or online?
2. Build a tutor login page to my website, for tutors to record each session and payment information (received & owed)?
3. Any other insight?
Thankyou Fastlaners.
