Is it wrong that i think simple logos are better than logos trying to go crazy and include pictures and graphic art, i mean isn't the whole point to make it memorable?

Google......

mobil
look at amazon.com, its black letters with a yellow arrow

My favorite logo is just something simple and caN Be determined by the maximum amount of people with just a quick glance.

most logos are the opposite and include detail, is there a reason for this, will this really affect the success of a company good or bad. If so is there any reasoning to why.
