Listened to it 3 times already, just purchased Unscripted and listening to it right now. Life changing, you clearly do what you preach, aka: give value. Thank you

Hello everybody,
I'm Barnaba from Italy. I am a student of innovation and entrepreneurship (I know, a university of entrepreneurship may seem counterintuitive, but hey at least I learn English, German and expand the network). I read TMF a few years ago and now unscripted too.

TMF remains my favorite book ever.

I'm here to find inspiration and useful advice, trying as soon as possible to get out of the trap of the "wantrepreuneur".

Dear MJ,

I'll get to the feedback part in just a sec, but first, I'd just like to say a massive thanks for writing these! Both of these books are truly game changers and overall brilliant <3

Finished Millionaire Fastlane a few months back and I'm about halfway through Unscripted . Both are quite well thought out and I've learned a lot about business, money and mindset.

I was very impressed by your take on the RAS and how, through visualisation, we can change our beliefs about ourselves in order to take massive action.

I'd also like to thank you for calling out bozos like Robert Kiyosaki. Finally, someone that has the courage to say it!

With all that being said, there are a couple of things that I'm sorry to say are flat-out wrong. And it's not about a few typos or the handful of wrongly used words ("ilk", for example), but rather about the demonisation of working a job and the notion of "free" (single-payer state-run) healthcare being undeserved.

Simple working-class people will always exist and that's just a reality we should all accept. Not everyone's cut out for entrepreneurship and that's ok. Not everyone's a producer of content, innovation, technology or other value, save for their day job output.

We don't have the utopic technology and automation to replace binmen, sewer cleaners, wait staff, nurses, etc. Some people simply don't want to start a business and are quite happy doing what they do. Is that really something we should fault them for?

As for healthcare, look, I get that the US govt. is the biggest terrorist organisation in modern history and nobody can fault Americans for their disdain for taxation, government-run institutions and infrastructure. But it's a mistake to say that people shouldn't have healthcare because they're not working for it or because they're living on welfare. Does every single person living on welfare want to live like that?

You can say what you want about Sanders and yes, he may be wrong about the idea of income inequality, but he's absolutely right on the subjects of opportunity innequality, systemic racism and corporate greed destroying the lives of millions of Americans.

As for healthcare, the facts are clear as day:
  • Socialised healthcare works beautifully in more advanced countries with proper governments like Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Singapore, Sweden, etc;
  • Single-payer healthcare is not only much cheaper but covers every citizen, thus driving overall cost down for the entire country and allowing for better care (US healthcare is barely 15th globally, while EU systems occupy the top spots);
  • Having comprehensive healthcare for your entire population means that more people can focus on their lives, their businesses and futures without fear of going bankrupt or homeless if they get sick;
  • Socialised healthcare also has the added benefit of not being dictated by greedy insurance and pharmaceutical companies.

At the end of the day, people are the product of their respective environments and the 5 closest people in their lives. These people were failed by the system. They were born into poverty and ignorance, and mostly they simply don't know any better.

Most poor Americans pay absurd amounts for healthcare, prescription drugs (which have been an even bigger plague than crack in the 80s) and I'm sorry to say that most Americans get some of the worst public education in the developed world.

If you're born in a ghetto with a single mom as your only caregiver and if all around you there's nothing but violence, illegal drug trade and crime, you're more than likely going to propagate what you see around you. Is it really your fault that you don't educate yourself and become a producer?

I grew up in the post-commie kleptocratic oligarchy that is modern-day Romania. I'm 34 years old and all throughout my childhood, I was surrounded by poverty, ignorance, no care for the environment and corruption.

Now, I was fortunate enough to be born into a well off family, as my father's been an entrepreneur his entire life. Unfortunately, he grew up in much worse conditions and his mental and emotional traumas have remained unresolved, thus his entrepreneurial days came to a sudden screeching halt in 2009 (his industrial construction company wasn't built to weather the global recession).

You are absolutely correct about education becoming a for-profit business that creates nothing but debt, disillusioned wage-serfs and dead dreams. It's why I dropped out of architecture university in 2012.

I've just recently gotten myself together through therapy, meditation and personal development and just learning so much about creating and business. So I'd like to thank you again for your books and the massive value they've given me.

I went from architecture drop-out to automotive engineer at Jaguar Land Rover in the UK to finally taking responsibility for my life and becoming a writer.

Your books have played a huge role in my path towards freedom and now that I'm armed with all of this knowledge, I'll do my best to create a business around my writing which will bring true value to my readers.

Thanks again and stay safe!

Kind regards,
Sebastian

I just finished reading/listening to it this morning. It was great, just like Unscripted ! The most important take-away from both of these books is the mindset. It's life changing.

20 years of ups and down as being an entrepreneur and finally a book that is changing my life. When I first read it I wasn't in the right frame of mind to take any of it's well thought lessons. Recently, I read it again and learned so much more and I am a lot clearer on my path. Between this book and Unscripted I feel that I Finally have the tools needed to build a solid business system and break free from mediocrity.

@MJ DeMarco my friend and I are budding entrepreneurs and she gifted me this book. It has shown me EXACTLY why I’m not rich and has completely changed my approach towards building a business. Thank you for writing this book.

I've read both books back in 2019 and listened to them both as well this past year. I bought my neighbor and my brother a copy of both for Christmas. Honestly, a long time lurker, but that's about to change.

Thank you for putting into words what I've been feeling for a while. I hate my job even though I am good at it. I can't believe I have never considered there is kore than one way to nake money and thus to get freedom. While I am not quite finished with it, i plan on finishing TMF this week. I may even quit my job to pursue some ideas in the near future.
