Hello,
I'm 24 years old, I work a dead-end job full-time, and I'm going to university full-time. I'm studying economics and actually enjoy the subject a lot. My main purpose in school is to be an entrepreneur. This might seem counter-intuitive to the Fastlane philosophy, but school has actually helped me "learn how to learn." I tried Udemy and YouTube, but I found them difficult because of their asynchronous nature.
I tried and failed to start a custom website building business back when I was 20 or 21. After that, I decided to go back to the workforce. I climbed the ladder and started making more money. I was an inventory manager for a gas station corporation, and on my days off, I worked a retail job at a grocery store. I was making $50k–$60k a year doing this, but I was working every day. Another thing I noticed was that when I started making more money, I started spending more on stupid stuff.
After a while, working seven days a week for this amount of money got annoying. I saw people working nice, cozy 9–5 office jobs making as much as me—or more. I would see people my age on social media living the life I want: financial freedom. A thought dawned on me that I could definitely do that (work a cozy office job) and start my business on the side. So, I decided to go back to school at 23. My main reason at the time was to get a stable job so I could focus my off-time on my business, since I still have to pay rent and expenses. Around that time, I also listened to The Millionaire Fastlane, and it really changed my perspective on money and business.
I didn't change my mind right away; it took a third listening of the book for me to take action. Currently, I'm working on two presentations for my business idea. Both are related to my university, and both have the potential to earn some funding or research money. I joined this forum so I can learn from people who actually have the outcomes I want and get much-needed feedback on my approach.
