Hello! I'm Shirley and I just read the Millionaire Fastlane this past week and I am so thrilled by the ideas presented that I had to sign up at this forum! I want to change myself and achieve financial freedom.
I guess you probably already read from the title, but I have always been a sort of pushover in life. Not like I never got angry or anything, but I always just accepted failures and even expected failure.
I was born with a chronic health condition, not trying to blame all my errors in life on this, but it definitely pushed my mindset in a pessimistic way. I mean, why bother even trying to accomplish all this other stuff when I can't even control my condition to disappear? I've cried over this many times and my solution to it was just ignore it. Ignore what it did to me and ignore ehat I have to do to manage it. Just do life in autopilot and hope for the best.
This transferred to other aspects of my life too. I didn't work hard, not because I think it's weird or something, but because I could still believe that I could do it, I just didn't try enough. Most importantly, I was scared that I would fail even after trying. The despair I got from my chronic condition latched onto my back and stayed there.
I always just went with the flow and deemed that starting a business was just impossible. Actually even worse, I thought that it's not impossible for everyday people, it's just impossible for me. Damn now that I write this out I just realize how awful this sounds...
I live life like that and enter university and even get an internship. That's when I realized, I don't like working corporate job! I don't like meetings where I have to fake that positive persona. I don't like having to wake up at set times for my work. I don't like how I'm restricted in how I implement the features. Then what? I gotta do this for life I can't hate it. Remember Squidward's quote?
"We do this for 40 years, and then we die."
I try to adjust but I know there's a part inside of me that wants change and doesn't want, ehh, this. This 9-5 life. I always enjoyed the long breaks where I could enjoy my freedom for weeks. However I knew it would never in my adult life. Even if I did get a break, I'm thinking about what happens when I get back to work and that just churns my stomach.
I felt lost and needed to be validated. I can't say I wanna enjoy myself all day, I gotta work and stuff for 40 years and then die I guess.
That's why I enjoyed Millionaire Fastlane. Not only was I validated, I was also shown a path on how to do it. Not an easy path by any means but still a path! Something I can do to make my silly dream come true!
I know it's going to be difficult. I'll get opposition from family and friends and even myself. I'll experience more failures than ever. I'll probably give up. That's why I'm writing this you see, it's a reminder in a way to future Shirley. Hey, if you see this, keep doing it! Literally nothing to lose! You fail, go back to living like a cheapskate. You win though, you get that free lifestyle you wantes for so long.
