I have a website where I sell digital products. Currently the catalogue is a little over 1000 products.
I'm not a developer. I currently don't know how to write code or change any of the functionality of a WordPress site other than plugins and settings.
I can do some basic html css styling to make things look pleasing.
I have several "ideas" on my list that would improve the way the customer can download/receive the digital products after they purchased it.
Do I double down on learning to implement these things myself, creating basically a custom WordPress plugin or theme or whatever is needed?
Or do I lean into my strengths and focus on my knowledge of what needs to be improved, rather than knowing exactly how to do this?
I'll add to this that I also have no idea how to make sure that all security measures are in place when working with someone who makes changes to my website. That part scares me.
I guess the question is do I like less the idea of learning how to code vs trusting someone else with that part.
The issue is that I don't need to make the decision right now; the website is technically functional.
But I will need to improve some aspects of the website to be able to deliver the quality I want to my customers.
Has anyone else faced this dilemma? How did you decide which path to take?
