How can I identify and validate a niche for a micro SaaS while balancing a 9-to-5 job? I seem to be missing this part since I have read a number of books, watched different materials for success stories, have a goal like reaching X as side income before fully focusing on that side hustle and making it my escape route. I am looking to start a micro SaaS to address a certain niche, which I haven't figured out yet, due to the fact I work as software engineer so skill is already there.
Recently I came across delusional knowledge zombie thread which related to me as I always looked to read something, finish it and go to the next one which isn't beneficial. The main focus now is to take an action. I know people will say you need to look for problems and pains to solve and you technically have a business but that itself seems to be a skill I haven't gotten accustomed to.
Have I tried anything previously? Well I had an idea regarding budget and expenses tracker so I conducted some research in the form of google form and sharing it with different personas to see if there is a need for it or not. The idea itself isn't that new/disruptive but thought some people might be facing such issue so I could offer something here. Turns out not many people are interested in the idea and also the fact it changes the behavior of having to record every expense which some might not find it beneficial. Not sure if that was enough or there is something much better to validate ideas much faster and take actionable steps accordingly.
