Hi fellow fastlaners, I'm an entrepreneur in Oklahoma. I started by own business in 2018 building websites and designing graphics for small businesses and non-profits. Even though I've managed to somehow just barely survive, I've made clients happy to where most people find me through referrals, I've always been poor.
I have known that it should be possible to succeed and make millions, but it's always been rather puzzling as to how to actually do it and succeed. Being a web developer and designer, I've had my share of online business attempts. I've had many business ideas (too many and I fail to focus so they get neglected and die), I've been homeless before, my credit sucks, and I've got a bunch of student loan debt that I owe since 2008 (but because I've been poor, they haven't made me pay it back yet).
I just turned 40 and have felt like a massive failure the past few weeks. My family has told me a million times to quit my entrepreneurial pursuits and settle for the comfort of a job, but it's not in my wiring, much to their dismay. My dad had a job and had a small business on the side. My uncles had their own businesses, my grandfather had his own business. I've always had this drive to do my own thing since.. I guess forever.
I've had endless pressure, massive debt, and looming bills, things getting neglected, all while I slave away in an endless cycle of working and spending my time to try to make some kind of money in a heavily competitive marketplace where no matter what I do, the cap on how much I can generate will always be limited by time.
While my skill level is good and I have lots of happy clients, I can't do it anymore. For the past 3 weeks or so, I've been running on around 4 or 5 hours of sleep. I am married and have a teen daughter, but I don't get to spend time with them because of project deadlines and juggling multiple clients and all the tasks including chores myself. I have been waking up in the morning, then get ready and work all day, and at night I'd work late til I went to bed.
I have no life, all I do is work and I've been a work slave for over 20 years.
I have done some neat things, like I just launched a website I built and designed for a YouTuber yesterday, but at what cost? Is it really worth it what I've invested? I have lost so much time with my daughter.. my husband.. my family.. I don't get to pursue my hobbies.. we live in a small apartment because I have failed to make enough money to help us afford a bigger place.
I need to break the cycle, and that's what lead me to TMF which I started reading a week ago. I didn't research the book beforehand, I went to Amazon, looked up millionaire mindset then started looking for books with lots of good reviews. That's when I spotted TMF and I took a chance and ordered it thanks to some intuition.
I don't care about fancy cars, mansions, or material things - what I do care about is being able to take care of my family, helping my mom and sister, being able to help others, and making a difference. I can't do that while broke, and I've been broke since I went out on my own at 18.
I'm no stranger to difficulty, hardships, or sacrifice. I will succeed... I must.
So that's my story, that's why I'm here. I'm here to learn how to escape the endless cycle of slavery and learn from people who are actually doing it.
