I think it's been 1 month so here is an update:
Although the book is a low earner, I think "peanuts" would be an exaggeration, it is noteworthy that it has made almost more in 1 month on the gumroad than the same book in Amazon for 3 months!

It's hard to say -with such low figures- if my sales in amazon have suffered since switching the blog page to show only the gumroad book.
But what I really like is that I have made almost more in 1 month than 3, and have added the income stream on top of Amazon's. Looks like -zon doesn't need the blog to get sales!
What I really like about Gumroad is that they are "your" customers. You get their email and you also see the sources of your traffic and conversion rates etc.
BUT, what I really LOVE is Gumroad's small product labs! Since joining I have done one lab and I can only say -DO THIS!-
They teach you how to get to market FAST - EXECUTION to the nth degree!
I don't know if they are all lead by Nathan Barry , but mine was, and it is simply awe-sum. And they are FREE!

and then I used the momentum to launch even another!

I cannot recommend these SPL's enough, the small product lab is like a business crash course on steroids, and since it is free there is absolutely no excuse for us wannabee fastlaners to -not- do it. It's a real reality check, and the networking is also invaluable.

If you do participate in a gumroad SPL I highly recommend you have an idea/product before you start. You only have 10 days to go from idea to launch. That means you blast through the idea and validation phase really quick. But the validation phase is probably the most important. You just can't pack that all in 10 days. A proper validation can go for a week or more, especially if you are a beginner.

Lessons Learned:
- Gumroad rocks! - the flexibility cannot be beat.
- For example you can offer your product in tiers and have special offers. This way all I have to do is go to my website and hit a button e.g. in my SumoMe pop-ups, to turn the "blitz-sale" on or off.
- It is a super valuable complement to Amazon and is even worth it for "peanuts" books like mine (or other beginners for that matter)
- As a fastlaner wannabee we should all be participating in the SPL's, they are lead by industry "big guns" and an amazing value for free. Most would charge for this!
- I think the term is "speed to market" or "velocity to market" - IMPORTANT! You gotta learn to EXECUTE NOW.
