Day 20/30
Sleep Time: 8 hrs
Wake Up 6:30am: Yes
Cold Shower: Yes
Social Media: No
Engagement/Presence: Average
Bedtime Routine From Previous Day: No

Observations:
Didn't do bedtime routine yesterday cuz I was so tired. But overall a very good day today. It's been a lot easier for me to wake up at 6:30am these last few days. I also found that putting two different alarm clocks with different alarm sounds wakes me right the f*ck up lol A nice trick if you want to really get yourself out of bed, especially if you put the alarm clocks far away from each other and far away from your bed. Still haven't tried lion's mane but am gonna order some this week.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10

Day 21-26/30
Sleep Time: On average, 6.5-8hrs
Wake Up 6:30am: 2 out of the 6 days I got up late but for the most part got up early
Cold Shower: The only day off from cold showers was today
Social Media: Used a lot. Set up a browser blocker for Youtube and Instagram
Engagement/Presence: Average to Great. Mostly average but still got ADD lol
Bedtime Routine From Previous Day: Almost none this last week but did it a few times

Observations:
Crazy week last week, super busy. Didn't even remember this thread until today lol but pretty happy that I had a "full" week. Didn't have a shitty day, either. In terms of mood I'm much better but sleeping has been a challenge because of a dog that is right next to my window that barks when his owner gets there at like 12am. Didn't even notice this until I started going to bed early this last week. It is what it is. Also got some Lion's Mane

Overall Rating: 7-8/10

Sleep Time: On average, 6.5-8hrs
Wake Up 6:30am: Failed most of the days but managed to get better sleep.
Cold Shower: No day off from cold showers
Social Media: Little use. Only sin was Youtube.
Engagement/Presence: Average to Great. Mostly average but still got ADD lol
Bedtime Routine From Previous Day: Almost none this last week but did it a few times

Overall Rating: 6-7.5/10

I completely forgot to give the final update when I finished this challenge. A few things to note. I definitely got out of the slumps. Some days were better than others but as of now, I'm more busy than I have been in a long time and I'm always doing something, either for my own health or to further my business. Got into a sales job recently and have been doing pretty good! Way better than I had been about a month back.

Sleep was very difficult for me but lately I've been sleeping and resting a lot better. Took some Lion's Mane and haven't really seen that much difference but I do feel better. I also started taking some sleep supplements (Natural Sleep Formula by Golden Naturals, if you're interested) and they have helped me more than a lot of other sleep supplements. So very thankful for that.

In terms of mood, I'm a lot better overall. Still got some "down" days but overall my mindset is much healthier and a lot more expansive. Don't feel as trapped as I did in the beginning of this challenge. Grateful for everything and God bless you all!

You’ve got this Doug! Been there many times in my life. That’s a long list of things you’re going to change, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t complete everything everyday. Any slight change is a win and everyday you’ll be closer to being the person you envision. A 1% change everyday is a 365% change over the course of a year. Keep that ball rolling in the right direction!

Have you always had inattentive symptoms, or is this a lingering after effect from the burnout? If you are eating right, exercising, and sleeping enough (which you probably aren't.. a lot of your nights look like 5 hours of sleep) your focus should be better than what it is. If its depression though, you're gonna have to work hard on getting through that or else anything else you do is gonna be pretty useless. If you've been inattentive your whole life, and a psychiatrist thinks you may have ADHD, consider discussing with them going on adderall or vyvanse - but you're gonna need to sleep more for those drugs to be helpful. Vyvanse 3x a week has been a life saver for me, along with the pomodoro method for productivity.

I've always had inattentive symptoms but just prior to the burnout my attention span was probably the lowest it had ever been. Slowly got better but yes, ADD has always been a part of my life.

Yeah, I'm not doing either of these, except exercise in the morning. Sleep has been very hard for me to get and my diet had to be put on hold for economic reasons.

I think it's a little bit of everything. I'm keeping drugs as a last resort but I want to take care of the basics first before I even consider it.

Try Lions Mane. Some of what your discussing I can relate to BIGTIME. I made lifestyle changes, which have affected my life in an beautiful way. As a matter of fact I can say my situation was far far worse than yours. It seemed like I would never overcome this fear anxiety and worry. I can honestly say you can try Lions Mane along with working out once a day and see how you feel. Reach out to ask any questions. Thanks

Frank
That sounds great. Do you have a preferred way of taking it? Which brand?

Hello Doug,

A very symilar thing happened to me this year and led me here, in the entrepreneurial journeyhwere I found my peace and purpose.

I think that letting go of the past and focusing on the present is the key to happiness in life.

Think About it: what can You really control except for how are You feeling right now?

This is why meditation and breathwork ( Rickson Gracie syle) have really been what led me out of my dark time.

The truth is that you tend to see reality the same way as how you are feeling. It's all mental game.

Cheers

Davide
Thanks for the words, Davide. I agree. Meditation and breath work have been life changers for me this year. It's an ongoing process of letting go of the past and also relearning/unlearning mindsets and skills.

Here goes the link. I have Zero affiliation with this brand or company. I am just sharing this to help you. I take 1 every morning with coffee empty stomach. Give it a try! It really helps with ADD and concentration. Better than any of these medicines out there.

Frank
Will definitely give this a try. Thank you

Day 8/30
Sleep Time: 6 hrs
Wake Up 6:30am: No
Cold Shower: Yes
Social Media: Yes
Engagement/Presence: Great
Bedtime Routine From Previous Day: Yes
Observations:
Pretty awesome day. Began the day a bit unfocused and a bit socially awkward (which is something I wanna work on) but when I got home came in with sharp focus and worked. My mood was very good and very positive naturally without me having to "force" optimism, which was very nice. Still hard for me to wake up at 6:30am but will not give up on that.Used a bit of social media but I had completely forgot about that challenge until I sat down to write this post. However, it wasn't a lot of time.

You're sleeping for 5-6 hours in a few days here. The consequences here are more than the benefits so I don't suggest doing so & better get full 8 hours every single night.

Watch this talk for Matt Walker (he's a sleep scientist and the author of the book Why We Sleep) cuz the consequences might be fatal on the long term
View: https://youtu.be/5MuIMqhT8DM
I'm not doing it on purpose, these days I've had to get up early. If I sleep my 8 hours I'll basically sleep in since I have to wake up at the very least at 7am for my job or cut my day in half if I have to run errands or work on my business. My morning routine is very important to me.

It's one of the reasons I'm still actively trying to get to sleep early which has been a real challenge. Until I get more flexible hours at work (which is gonna be in about a week) I'm gonna have to bite the bullet, sadly.

Thanks for the heads up, anyways. Believe it or not I'm sleeping a lot better than I was a few months back, thank God.

Hi Doug,

Sorry to hear you're having a bad time of it. A client was a real night owl and he found the Sleep Cycle app really good because it helps set up good Sleep Hygiene and it wakes you according to your natural sleep cycle. There were 2 things that made him feel grumpy - going to bed late and not socializing enough. After he got both of those in place, he was much more productive.

I personally found drinking 2L of water a day really important because it stops the body feeling like it's living in a desert. 2 quarts sounds like a lot but it's just 4 mugs of water in the morning, repeated after lunch. If you put the mugs on your desk when your computer is loading, you'll have them there right in front of you. To ensure you remember to drink them as you go, put them between the keyboard and screen. I prefer warm water because it's like having a proper beverage but doesn't make me thirsty afterwards :)

Hope this helps.
Best, KCTC
Day 9/30
Sleep Time: 8 1/2 hrs
Wake Up 6:30am: No
Cold Shower: Yes
Social Media: Yes
Engagement/Presence: Average
Bedtime Routine From Previous Day: Yes

Observations:
Average day. Got up late, didn't do morning routine cuz I had an appointment. Finding it hard to balance getting my 8 hours of sleep with getting up early, since I've spent most of my life being a night owl. Still, I managed to get to bed early but got woken up by a dog at midnight right next to my window.
