Forum Update - Information Here

UPGRADE STATUS: 99% Completed

As you can see, the forum is reopen at the new domain:

The update is only about x% complete but I've reopened the forum since it is fully functional ... there are lot of style kinks/bugs that I have to fix so please be patient. I have to reinstall several plugins, fix the reputation/speed system, etc. This stuff will take some time.

Here are some of the changes:

1) Personal blogs -- if you want to start your own here at Fastlane you can ... great for progress threads or more personal topics that might not be appropriate for the forum. The rules for blogs are a little more lax because it is YOUR blog, however, vitriol or other offensive topics will not be tolerated.

2) News -- I'm working on a plugin that will recategorize any NEWS that someone comments on. In the old version, NEWS that was interesting and commented on often got lost in the NEWS forum. If you comment on a NEWS article, it will be automatically be moved into the primary discussion forum. In effect, a comment on a news item "promotes" it for visible discussion.

3) Newbies won't be able to have signatures until they reach a 50 post limit.

4) Please "like" The Millionaire Fastlane for me on the right sidebar, much appreciated!

5) The articles section of the forum has moved to http://www.fastlaneentrepreneurs.com (or the singular if you prefer) ... I will start creating articles again and any articles posted there will be fed into here both in the forum and on the right sidebar. For the first few weeks, however, I will be simply moving some of my old articles posted here, over there.

6) Traffic to the site should decline a bit as I work out all the redirects.

I will update this thread daily to report on the UPGRADE STATUS as progress is made ...

Different, I see this is all in anticipation of your book.
If you sell 50,000 copies I'd assume at least 10,000 of those people will register as members of this forum.
Are you making plans to buy a bigger server?

All the older posters on here will soon become legends to these newbies who will be popping in soon.

Wow, MJ, amazing amounts of work on things.

I've been "walking around" all the new pages for a while-- you've been a busy guy-- and the layouts are excellent!

Some of this is just a bit too new for me-- I feel like I'm wearing 3D glasses right now-- but I'm sure that will settle down in a few more days as I get used to things.

Again, congrats-- I know you're gonna be running around like crazy working on things the next few days.

Great work MJ. Looks really good, but like Russ said I too am definitely in a foreign country right now without a dictionary. I will have to learn the language on my own!

Of course, can't wait to see the speed limits and tags back up. Funny the first time I checked out the forum re-work I am on my sisters new Macbook Pro and it looks great on here!

Just a new feature note ... anytime someone comments on a NEWS item (The News Tab) the article is immediately promoted to the main forum area. Basically, when a news item strikes your fancy, comment on it and it will "move" to the "latest threads" section with the thread moving to its parent forum.

Under the old board, the topic would stay in the "news" forum and not update to the main section usually resulting in not much conversation on the news item.

Where did the speed go?

I really enjoyed the "Thanks" and "Speed+" features this forum had.

The speed rankings are kind of up, just not like before. Hovering the mouse over the green boxes below peoples names gives their speed.

1) removed the tool tip "hover" on the newest posts box ... just seemed like overkill.
2) added the Fastlane forum icons (click on any forum to list theads)

Basically, any thread with an exclamation is a thread you've commented on.

3) Also fixed the "Hot Thread" parameters.
4) Separated and offset stickies.

The advanced reply text input form needs to be bigger. It's so tiny and the font is huge it's hard to see what I'm typing.
