I just launched a podcast for entrepreneurs: http://foreverjobless.com/podcastlaunch/

I'm hoping this podcast can help with a lot of problems/questions entrepreneurs struggle with.

I'm trying to put something out that gets deeper into why someone is failing or succeeding than the current podcasts on the market.

I'm doing a variety of shows, such as:

1. 'Shooting the shit' episodes where myself and another entrepreneur just talk openly about different subjects as if there were no mic in the room.
2. In depth conversations about people's projects.
3. Discussion on topics I think are important such as 'Millionaire's Math' /'Entrepreneurial Diworsification'/'Bootscaling' type concepts

The goal is to reach/help a lot more people, a lot more quickly than I could on my blog. Blog posts take a ridiculous amount of time to write, and is not as strong of a platform, so hopefully I'll be able to put out 5-10x+ the content in the same amount of time, without the quality suffering too much, and reach 20-30x the amount of people.

Fastlaner @Likwid24 makes an early appearance, and gives @MJ DeMarco props for helping him start his journey, and talks about what it took to get The Paint Brush Cover where it is today. We chat about how much money it cost him to start, what his profit margins are, getting into big box retail stores, getting product from China, keystone pricing, the patent process, and his future plans for the company.

We've got a follow up episode coming out where Sal and I break down marketing ideas post-Shark Tank on the fly, to help compound the exposure from the show.

If you guys/gals find the shows helpful, I would love an iTunes review— it would help a lot for reasons I explain in episode #5.

I'm a newb on the mic, but hopefully you get some value out of the shows as I improve my podcast game.

I understand your mission statement a bit more, after what you and Neville said at the end of the one released today.

Two years agowhen I was doing landscaping work for a golf course, I'd spend the whole day with headphones in. I was listening to business podcasts for 8 hours a day, and I had a fundamental shift in my brain function.

I didn't have any business friends or anybody I could talk to about the life I wanted to live. I was listening to HOURS and HOURS of Lifestyle Business Podcast, Eventual Millionaire, Foolish Adventure, Smart Passive Income. It felt like I was surrounded by these people, and it started influencing my actions. It was like a conversation I was participating every single day for the whole summer.

THAT'S what you're trying to do, I totally get it, and i appreciate it.
Podcasts have already changed my life, and yours has high potential to touch thousands more.

@pkom79 Thanks...and thanks to @snowbank for having me on - thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to be back on soon.

I've been super busy running my thing, so I haven't had as much time to post here as I like. But I'm lurking, and moderating (a little bit, haha).

Glad I could provide value for you guys.

Just listened to the second episode with Sal. I really like the brainstorm format. I listen to quite a few podcasts regularly and I haven't heard anything like the brainstorm session you all did, I found it really entertaining and insightful. I definitely think you are onto something with that.

I also like the informal tone. One thing I don't like about Entrepreneur on Fire is the questions are always the exact same and very scripted, this was a real conversation which was nice to listen to. Keep up the good work

The profanity turned you from 'The host of the foreverjobless podcast' to 'Billy'. I want to hear humans. Not mythical unicorns.

But I swear a lot.

Don't overproduce. I noticed you put reverb on one of them. Be careful with FX. The general rule with vocal FX is 'if someone can hear the effect, you've overdone it.'

I really like it, keep it up.

I've listened to every episode and I really like it!

I know a lot of people have commented on the profanity and I actually like the profanity. It makes me feel like I'm listening to a real person and it makes everything more relatable in my opinion

Just listened to the episode with @JasonR. Tons of good advice and motivation!

Congrats Jason on your progress! Looking forward to checking out the changes on your site.
I was recently rereading @biophase's e-commerce thread and I read some of your posts. You can tell immediately how your mindset has changed over the past few months. Big change! Impressive!

@snowbank
Billy, you continue killing it. Each episode is better than the previous one. Great job!

Good content.

I think you need to get a little more excitable behind the mic. Not really feeling that RAW ENERGY or excitement coming off of you.
Whenever I hire voice actors and I get that 'stiff' feeling out of them, I take away their bench which forces them to STAND.
For some reason, when you're smiling and on your feet your voice just comes alive. Next solo episode you have give that a shot and see what happens.

Last year I made my first attempt at podcasting and I did what I normally do and I OVERPRODUCED the hell out of I didn't want to enter a new medium unless it brought something new and genrebreaking to the table... I wanted a podcast that SOUNDED differently than everything else that was out there:
https://soundcloud.com/castleforgem...castleforgemedia/sets/castleforge-media-video

Took way too much time. The content creation took so long I was having trouble keeping up with client work so I had to stop.
I always thought that I'd win a podcast award with this style since I don't know of anybody else doing it.

Very cool! Downloaded all 5 episodes and will give them a listen.

Also, you could easily monetize this with Patreon;
http://www.patreon.com/

It's sort of like crowdfunding - but instead of a lump, one-time sum - people can support your podcast on a monthly basis with donations.

Anything specific that really hit for you?
It was interesting to find out how much time and money it took to bring the product to where it is right now. I was actually pretty surprised how expensive it is to create a mold for a simple product like PBC and how much time it took.
It just shows the level of dedication and commitment Sal and his partners have.

If you liked that one I think you'll really enjoy the 2nd episode with Sal(should be out within 24 hours).
I will def listen to it when it comes out.

I'd love to do more of whatever is working for future episodes.
I'd love to hear about e-commerce. Maybe you can share some strategies that work with your online stores. I'm about to launch my own product so I look for tips on how to create effective product listings.

Hi Bill,

I subscribed to your podcast and listened to the first 4 episodes. It was great.

What I like:
- Intro/Outro song
- the tone and conversation like podcast
- the "thinking out of the box" mentality you're trying to teach your listeners

Room for improvements:
- Talk a bit more about your successes. You said you knew how to make money but I was looking for specific examples
- Introduce your guests and refer to them by their name during the episode. In the middle of episode 2, I was wondering who your guest was...

Good luck and keep up the good work.

I listened to the first 5 episodes. I'm really enjoying it so far. I always like hearing your thought process on business especially about doing things differently to everyone else.

I don't remember the last time I listened to a podcast with just one person talking, but those were pretty short and left me wanting to hear more. Which is great.

As per another poster, I noticed a bit of hissing in the first couple of episodes. And maybe when you're interviewing people, like in the one with Sal, make sure he's got nothing running on his side that could mess up the connection. I think Andrew Warner from Mixergy has a checklist of what his guests need to do before he starts recording.

I preferred the brainstorm, then the open convo, then the Ferrari, and then Sal #1. I havent listened to #1, #5, #7.

As mentioned before I really like the brainstorm because it was completely different than anything else I have heard on a podcast.

The ferrari episode and open convo were cool because it gave a look into your mindset. I think this and the brainstorm sessions seem to coincide best with your mission to transform how people think about making money and transforming mindsets. I didn't mind the cussing as some others have mentioned, it didn't seem that excessive to me.

I think the first Sal episode was my least favorite because a combination of audio issues, already knowing a lot of the story, and it being similar to how every other podcast is. I think theres a place for episodes like this and using these episodes to lead into a brainstorm session or open convo may be how you could use them. For instance to an outsider I could see how Sal #1 would help prepare them for the Sal Brainstorm session by introducing him, his background and his product. In my case, an intro episode with Neville (sp?) may have been nice to learn a bit more about him and his history since I am unsure who he is.
@1step All of this is gold. After listening to every episode, I agree with all of this.

Show Structure:
All of your interviews with guests are great. It's a REAL, FUN, and ORGANIC conversation. It reminds me of ChrisHardwick's conversations with guests on the Nerdist podcast. I would take a page out of his book and use a similar show structure, i think it would work great for you:
  • When you're actually interviewing your guests, don't officially introduce the podcast or have a 'show opening.' The guest will feel like they're "on" especially if they're not used to podcasting.
  • Later, record a show intro that explains to the audience who the guest actually is. It should consist of what the guest does, what they're best known for, and your personal connection to them. "Neville is a world class copywriter, best known for his Kopywriting Kourse and his work at Appsumo. He's a great friend of mine and he agreed when I asked him to swing by and be the first guest on the show"
When working on documentaries, we would often disable the red record light while doing interviews to get good usable footage. The more away they are they're being watched, the worse the entertainment.

I think that your intro copy isn't explaining your USP. You should be explaining to new listeners why THIS is their new favorite podcast. People want to hear from you because you're the "real deal" and unlike many 'get rich gurus' you know business through living it, not through big talk. I think this needs to be better presented up top

I LOVED the intromusic. Very good choice, fits the vibe of your show perfectly.

I don't think profanity is an issue. I only remember hearing it out of Neville's mouth, and that's just the way he is lol. There was a warning in the title, although maybe an in-episode 2 second warning at the top when you're privately introducing the guest could help a bit.

Brainstorming:
That brainstorming episode with Sal was AMAZING! I got SO EXCITED!
For real, I was giddy thinking about putting those tactics to use. It was amazing.

I know that the most popular Pat Flynn SPI podcasts and most popular Mixergy episodes were the ones that gave listeners similar tactics to use in their own business. If you can keep up that level of brilliance this will maintain the #1 spot indefinately.

Straight Interview
The first Sal episode was boring. I stopped paying attention 1/3rd of the way through.
I don't know if I'm biased because I already know the story, or for some other reason.
Who knows what the general consensus on this interview was.

Content EpisodesI love your article on the 20K Ferrari, but I HATED the podcast on it. Too hard to follow, too many numbers, to many specific references to things that you said earlier in the podcast. The flow of a podcast (like the flow of a video) is fleeting. You can't reread a sentence a few times until it 'clicks'. If you get too heady with numbers the user gets lost forever.

I can just imagine people driving and pulling over to take notes on the back of their coffee receipts.
80% of the episode was golden, but there were a few specific instances that I KNOW threw off podcast listeners. You want to be a bit more conceptual than that.

The episodes on early rising and marketing the podcast were perfect though.

I suggest VERY soon you do a podcast on EV aka "Millionaire Math".
You should break down EV in a 'general concept' way that doesn't use numbers, but explains the idea behind it.
I think using gambling as an analogy is a good way to get into it.

you want to explain:
  • It's not about emotion
  • Look at each event as if it's in it's own vaccuum, Past events don't effect current ones.
  • Even if there's a risk of losing money in the short term, if you make enough EV+ risks you'll come out ahead long term.
KEEP IT UP!
Can't wait to hear what you have next.

I've already listened to every episode and my favorite is the latest one with Sal where you are brainstorming with him, sharing your ideas. I love the creativity which I notice to be one of the most common traits amongst successful entrepreneurs. It's great to hear your thought process and how you think about solving one of the hardest things in business, getting traffic/sales.

Would LOVE to hear more of these.

IDEA - maybe you can do a lightning round sometime where you pick a few businesses from your audience every week or so and share what you would do differently, or ideas you have that can make their business more successful. This way your teaching the entire community while directly helping us grow our business at the same time. And since I came up with the idea, it's only right that I go first, lol :)

Brother I love your podcast. Very raw and honest. Curious to know what businesses you currently run and how they are doing. Other than those listed on the site.

Curious to know what businesses you currently run and how they are doing. Other than those listed on the site.

I've spent some time just investing/being semi-passive the last few years. I found the 4-Hour Workweek lifestyle is not for me though(it's pretty unfulfilling), so I've been more actively investing/advising lately, and am moving more towards putting close to all of my effort into one project.(possibly building ForeverJobless into a large platform to be able to help a much greater number of entrepreneurs than I could being a part-time, casual blogger)

I tried starting up a couple projects and then instantly outsourcing them/being completely hands off, and found that is definitely not the way to go. As fun/nice as it sounds in theory, the theory doesn't play out.(I'll probably do some really in depth podcasts on these subjects)

Investing stuff I've been doing is anything from hard money lending, to stock, to small niche businesses.(will be covering all this soon too)
