I read this line that money and power go hand in hand somewhere on the internet and this got me thinking of it's credibility and at what extent is it true, if it is really. Let's first consider the money to power relationship wherein if you have money, you are powerful. If you check the Forbes list of the most powerful people in the world it's really common to see people like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Larry Page, Warren Buffett etc. These are just entrepreneurs who don't have any significant central position in the political authority of their country. What they have is huge stacks of money, which is often regarded as their reason to high level of power.
If we see the power to money relationship, it was quite interesting to me. According to reports the richest man in the world is not actually Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos but actually the Russian president Vladimir Putin. Does he have any inherited money? No. any startup or business he started? No. In fact his family was extremely poor and low status. He joined the Russian spy agency KGB and rose to power as the president and no business. So it is safe to say that it was his rise in power which provided him heavy money as a by product. And it's not a special case for putin, most of the political figures which are richer than most people on the Forbes list aren't written on the list as their wealth is in other assets which are kept secretive for the officials to consider before making a list "richest people in the world".
So my conclusion to this thought was money can flow in two ways. If you go for solving a need, basically money first and power later or you gain influential power positions in politics and then gain money.
Would like to hear your thoughts on this!
Thanks!
