Tracked down @Ubermensch for a discussion about Robert Greene, game theory, and strategic warfare in business.

Here's the recording for the Introduction to this thread:
Sales: Power, Seduction, War and Mastery in Business (Introduction)
Cliffnotes:
- Chapter 8 of 50th Law is the chapter on Mastery, which evolved into the entire book of Mastery
- All of Greene’s philosophy connects
- Metaphorically, each tenet in Sun-Tzu (huge part of Greene’s work) is seen as a very strong cord, and that when woven together, they are unbreakable
- From a hustler’s perspective, all of this strategy is extremely comforting
- Game theory is a SCIENCE -- a concrete way to get what you want
- Game Theory is reflected in the Art of War
- If you are a nobody with knowledge of all of these concepts, you have incredible potential energy
- To the extent that you apply these strategies, the greater your success
- Strategy is not checkers OR chess; it’s GO
- GO is the ultimate game of formlessness and flow
- Greene says be more Eastern in your thinking
- The Vietnamese taught the US a big lesson in the science of strategy
- Everything, good or bad, is your fault (you made your own bed)
- You deserve every bit of shame or pride that you have
- Greene broke down the secret to Universe domination
- Salespeople need these books as a foundation for a powerful mindset in order to apply these laws in the real world
- At a certain point, you will be able to look at the world through the lens of the 48 Laws so that you may apply them to every situation
- The world becomes a GO board
- Appealing to the self-interest of others is key in sales
- It’s not about you or your pitch; It’s about listening and asking questions
- You don’t need to learn all of these “tricks”; all of the body language and everything will come naturally
- Spin Spelling is the ultimate guideline for BIG sales because it is empirically proven
- Different Laws are required for every single situation
- If you have the 48th Law as your guiding post, and the first few Laws, the others come naturally
- Salespeople often make the mistake of talking too much; listening is key because the prospect is able to tell you everything you need to do to close him
- Screw the 10 minute pitch, focus on hearing what they need
- Doing business with friends is dangerous if not set up in the right way.
- Friendship should be built on business, but business shouldn’t be built on friendship
- It can be a motivating factor to do business with friends, because the friendship is on the line as well
- Friendships are potentially the most enduring business relationships if done the right way
- Money over everything because money is the only objective standard that we have to measure success
- Money is the empirical data of society.
- In the 50th Law, it is incredibly interesting to see history told from the victor (50 Cent over Jarule)
- This was a modern day slaying
- Examples can be seen in corporate America (Instagram and Kodak)
- Everything is connected politically
