I realized something. I'm depressed. Its no secret.... have been for a while....
But I also realized that depression is a direct result of stagnation. When I feel stuck. Lost. Alone. Helpless. Weak. Scared. That's where depression comes from. But the moment I create goals. And start thinking about how to get there. The depression goes away. The answer to depression is goal setting. Maybe that's why they say that people often die after they retire...was the goal of "retirement" keeping them alive? And once they achieved it they had nothing to live for? Or was it it that work gave them contrast. To paint a shitty story to want more. Hope for more.believe there was more.
Well I think there is more. But goal setting is only the beginning. Setting that goal gives u some grand vision of the future. Then once u achieve it u feel empty again. Like is this all there is? The truth is goals last for ever.don't just hope for/strive for x. Keep hoping . Striving . And modifying your goals. When one comes . Create another. And another.
I think the real key to happiness is the process. Not the end. I just bought the book and look forward to reading it. Gives me empowerment that I know I'm not stuck. I just hit a pot hole. And eventually the road may smoothen out.
Broken String
Life has to have a meaning, there’s a reason why we live
What you give out you’ll soon get back, you’ve got so much to give
It’s not about the destination—and it’s not about the plan
It’s all about the process and becoming who you can
It’s not where you are going and it’s not where you have been
It’s all about the moment and searching for your Zen
There isn’t a way to happiness but happiness is the way
Be brave enough to love someone and do it everyday
Open your eyes and look around and listen with your ears
Slowly days will turn to months and months will turn to years
Stop and smell the roses and don’t be scared to take a chance
Don’t die with your music inside you and don’t forget to dance
You win, you lose, and life goes on—All I have to say is this
May your love grow strong and last as long as forever truly is
Life’s about the journey so love and laugh and sing
There’s nothing at the finish line but a piece of broken string
