Hey guys, I've been lurking these forums for quite a while and after re-reading both the books I think it's about time I started a progress thread. I'd like to share my journey going forward with everyone and use this thread for accountability and self-reflection.
Background
24 yr old male from Canada
So I started questioning societies script from a young age, I was about 14-15 when I really noticed how the system has been setup. When all your teachers, guidance counselors, parents and friends are balls deep in the slowlane, talking about things like wanting to have success in business, or escaping the rat race is something that would get laughed at and frowned upon. They make you feel as if you've lost at life if you don't fit that cookie cutter image of get good grades, a degree and a safe corporate job. Anyways I hope this Thread one day becomes a inspiration for others and shows them what is possible with extreme focus, execution and a fastlane mentality.
Work/business experience
No degree or diploma, dropped out of college after one month once I realized that path will never allow me to reach my goals and dreams.
I've always had side hustles going on,at about 16 i started selling weed which supported me for many years, i don't regret this at all ,it taught me how to be street smart along with some simple business principles. I've attempted more ventures then I can remember over the last 8 years. some were semi successful (2-3grand a month) while others i lost a bunch of money on. Windowcleaning, snowremoval(x2), multilevel marketing, Growing weed, landscapin/ lawncare, D2D sales,Bitcoin mining, dropshipping, commission based sales, trading penny stocks, Lead gen etc. I've also had a fair amount of jobs in between those attempts. Everything from hard labour on construction sites, selling criminal record pardons, cleaning nightclubs, a few factory/warehouse jobs, delivery jobs, unloading 53' foot containers by hand. I've experienced alot in the last 8 years but at the end of the day I'm still broke AF.
I believe i've been getting in the way of my own success, For many reasons. But this will go on no longer. I also think having no community or anyone to discuss my dreams and plans with have made me put my breaks on. I guess that's why i'm here. I Don't know anyone with a fastlane way of thinking outside of this forum. Some days it feels like i'm walking around in a zombie apocalypse or something. Most of my friends even the ones with degrees are working dead end jobs, walmart, waiting tables. No plans of the future or self-reflection/ critical thinking. just repeat the same thing day in and out. 5 days for 2. I will not suffer the same fate.
I've been in a negative state the last few months after my last failure, But i've snapped out of it and am ready to get back into action, I'll be posting my plans and actions i've taken on here.I'll also try to record my income every week from everything i'm doing as it'll be interesting to see the process a few years down the road.
My end goal is financial freedom, enough money to do what i want, live where i want and spend my time how i want, but most importantly it's to take care of my mom, make sure she doesn't have to work a day in her life again and give her all the benefits financial freedom has to offer.
I feel a sense of urgency like i've never felt before and I will do everything I can to channel that into tangible results.
Currently i've been supporting myself by delivering food for ubereats, Doing sidework(hvac) , some retail arbitrage, and snowremoval (running ads, paying kids to shovel driveways and splitting it 50/50).i make anywhere from 300-900 a week depending on how much I hustle. I refuse to get a regular 9-5 I believe that it would slowly but surely kill my dreams like it has for many others.
I'm moving out of my apartment at the end of the week and moving back with my pops. It sucks to move back once you've been on your own for a while, but this will drastically cut my expenses by like 80% . Which will allow me to save more capital and fully focus on my plan.
So moving forward I will be Hustling as much as possible to save some capital for my future ventures. I'm not deadset on any one venture yet but i'll let everyone know when i figure it out. I also have a friend that needs help marketing his business, he'll be giving me a cut of every job I get him so I plan to Run some ads for him. I've been getting into trading options the past few months aswell, have been papertrading but plan on throwing in a few hundread and see how it goes.
Another one of my goals is to purchase a investment property by this summer. Here in canada you can get a home for 5% down (have to live in it for one year before renting out). Looking at properties in the 150k-200k range. it will specifically be for students, renting out each room for 500 a pop and i'll "live" in one room for the first year. I've talked to a few investors that own student rentals and the numbers check out. you can get a property with $1000 month cashflow for 5-10k down if you do it right. Although I have shit credit and barely any verifiable income I feel very confident i can get a deal done in this area. Found a few potential partners / investors i'm in talks with atm.
Also Been looking at purchasing a small shopify store thats making somewhere between 500-1500 a month. Have talked to a few sellers and their are some crazy deals you can find. like under 0.5x ebitda. I met a guy a few months back that got his return on investment from a shopify store he purchased in 70 days, now it's cashflowing about 2500 a month, I'll have to look more into this, i've had shopify stores in the past that barley made any sales because the products were crap and added no value to peoples lives.
I have enough on my plate I don't want it to seem like i have "shiny object syndrome" hopping from one thing to the other like i've done in the past. I'll be focusing on providing value to others and on the process that's behind the event.
So that's it, I'll update this as much as I can and hopefully in a few weeks i'll have a solid plan on what fastlane model ill be most focused on...Brick by Brick i'm going to build my empire and help a shit load of people in the process , Cheers!
