Fascinate by Sally Hogshead and Brand Seduction are my favourites

They were recommended by @AllenCrawley in his thread along with a bunch of others

If you are thinking ecom brand then it would be a good thread to read

The reason I suggested that @Fab: might be interested in my book was that

• It meets the criteria he set out.
• It is for beginners,
• It is simple and without technobabble.
• It provides practical instructions

The advertising for Brand Seduction states that "In Brand Seduction, Daryl reveals the latest psychological and neuroscientific discoveries about how our minds process brand information and make decisions, and the important roles our emotions and unconscious play in our selections", but the books he refers to on his own site are not in any way neuroscientific.

In Sally Hoghshead's site she displays a list of trite sayings such as "Every time you communicate, you are either adding value or taking up space", and "Stand out, or don't bother."
