Hi!
I'm an 18 years old male from Germany. I don't have business related value apart from reading. I do have other skills, I practice Parkour and I like to create films and pictures and edit both. To celebrate my acceptance to a university in Düsseldorf about marketing and online marketing I purchased a kindle - it was a great decision! Luckily some comment recommended TMF in the review section of an overprized book about finances I originally wanted to buy and I gave it a shot - That was a week ago.
The book has crushed me, leaving massive value and is by far one of my (if not the) most liked self improvement books. So far I have read "classics" as 'rich dad poor dad', '4 hour workweek' and other, not business related books ("mastery","how to win friends" etc).Yes, they contained usefull parts or informations I can use later on in life (and some already now), but none of them impacted me like TMF - THANKS MJ!
story
What struck the most was the part about ideas and execution. My history of piling up informations without taking any action is long, sadly a bit too long - It all started with nerdfitness, went to other books and finally youtube channels (fight mediocrity or charisma on command for example). And while having a lot of informations is good, it is complicated to begin.
But over the time I located another big problem - I am afraid of failure I guess.
And yes, I read about it and I know "failure happens so one can learn and overcome past problems", but truly understanding or living it is a whole new world. I am slowly realising that there is no other way to beat this fear than attacking it. That means I just have to confront myself with fear, realise that it won't destroy my world or me and learn from it.
business
To create situations that allow these circumstances and to finally take action, I am starting a business to learn. In my case, that is a clothing company with an online store. Why? I am starting to build a new wardrope but don't like a lot of the products in the genre, so I decided to start to design my own stuff (& let them print) with my youtube username on it (won't tell it, I don't want to promote it here) - lets see how it turns out, I already sketched ideas onto paper. And once I create clothes I enjoy, why not offer them to others?
I am not sure how much of a fastlane product the store will be, but what I can say so far is it attacks a lot of the commandments (apart from entry). Why in the world would I want to start something like this??
To learn & to grow. This mindset is the only fastlane part about the idea. There will be massive failures when learning new skills and additionally I will take action and learn by doing.
Similar to here I want to learn the basics. In detail, Wordpress, Adwords (Maybe SEO), sales, marketing, designing and also the laws according online businesses in Germany. I don't want to gain comprehensive knowkledge, I want to understand enough to do fixes by my own or so I can hire a professional without beeing scammed in the future.
If you have read until here you may ask yourself why I don't open up a more appropiate fastlane business to learn from. Because I don't have a good enough idea. As recommended I started listening to "I hate this and that" and it already got me thinking, but I have not had an idea to improve an existing product/service with my values now.
My goal for the near future is getting the clothing company started and to gain more knowldege by picking the "big player's profiles" and read all their posts while taking notes.
If you have read through all of this, thank you for trying to understand my situation in my overly complicated writing style
While this mindset might sound great, it is still a thought and I'm really sure once I face reality I need to work hard to maintain it.
If you disagree with anything I have just stated, please tell it to me (or hit me with it, as long as I get it)! I made these thoughts up while writing and reading, so they can be utterly wrong!
One question regarding this forum though. Asking dumb questions in the beginning is not the way to go - use the search engine and look through the profiles. But how can I add value? Writing my thanks under each thread that helped me might cause unnecceceary bumping, which can be annoying - better do it privatly. So I can only ask questions that are not answered yet (and hopefully ad value to others too)?
Thank you for reading, thank you for this opportunity! If I stated anything wrong, I will try to explain it better
