...to see what people are hiring for, and where you could possibly fill in.

Then I'd recommend NOT applying for any listings, and instead reach out cold to companies who are similar to those posting in the job boards, and offer your help. Take whatever they'll give you.

I'm in recruiting and see companies generally respond favorably at a 1:30 ratio from cold outreach, versus 1:100 through applications. The competition is stiff...so don't compete with everyone else pushing resumes and applications doing it the stupid way.

Save up, and go for the Tropical Trinity. Mexico (Puerto Vallarta), Florida (Anywhere), and the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana). All three seem to be relatively free based on the feedback here, where it's probable to bounce between those places.

Good Luck!

Apparently, they just imposed new restrictions again August 1st -

"Several new restrictions will go into place for Puerto Vallarta August 1 including:
  • Bars and nightclubs will be closed for the month
  • Restaurants must close by midnight
  • Restaurant capacity reduced to 50%
  • All large public events have been canceled for the remainder of the year including Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
  • Attendance at stadiums reduced to 33% and face masks must be worn
  • Hotels must keep their occupancy below 80% and 50% in public spaces"

I'm afraid Albania is going to carve from EU's pressure. They are trying to get into the Union, I'd be surprised if they didn't try to please the overlords. Montenegro did the same.

If infections are occurring at a higher rate in vaxinated people, this is a warning alarm that antibody dependent enhancement (ADE) might be occurring. ADE is one of the things many scientists have been very concerned about with a VAXCClNE without long term testing. ADE typically occurs months or years after vaccination, and can have catastrophic Heath consequences.

“The specific and significant C0VlD-19 risk of ADE should have been and should be prominently and independently disclosed to research subjects currently in vaccine trials, as well as those being recruited for the trials and future patients after vaccine approval, in order to meet the medical ethics standard of patient comprehension for informed consent.”

great list, thank you!

'Tropical Trinity' .... wow.

And I moved from Miami, FL to SF, CA in Jan 2020 after having been in Miami 10 years ! lmaooo. Hows that for timing!

I miss FL in some sense but tbh I don't miss the heat . It's 84 deg there right now, 64 degrees (F) in SF. The weather is awesome but the local gov is incompetent lol. And the nature out here in CA is incredibly beautiful.

I have a degree from a top ten public uni (UF) so that would probably get me farther over there in terms of status, plus forming an LLC is way cheaper in FL, like $150 vs $900 in CA lol.

What is the point of the vaccines if even one of the world's most vaxinated countries is now back to restrictions and possibly another lockdown in September?

Countries with the highest vaccination rates could have been on paper some of the best choices to avoid future restrictions but it looks like it doesn't matter. So better to just go to one of the countries that stayed open throughout the pandemic or most of it.

I'm planning to leave Europe by October because it's starting to look pretty clear that lockdowns will be back by then.

In other news, UAE is rolling out an untested Chinese vaccine to children aged 3-17. Pretty sure soon it'll be mandatory for all the kids. If you're shopping for a country where your child gets vaxinated with some Chinese crap, the UAE is it.

Pretty hard to stay optimistic about the future when stuff like this happens around the world.

--
As a side note, just a couple of years ago it was my dream to move to Australia. I was in love with the place when I was there. And now? LOL.

The situation can change so rapidly that my new plan is to find at least 3-4 places around the world where I have a home base set up.

Poland is probably one because I have my family here and summers can be pretty enjoyable here.

Then someplace warm and sunny with good surf. Maybe somewhere in the Caribbean, probably not in Asia (given that it's pretty much impossible for a foreigner to be ever accepted there). Another place could be somewhere in the southern hemisphere to enjoy the summer while it's winter in Europe.

Another place in Europe (or with easy access to it) for spring and fall could be nice. I really enjoyed Switzerland and it doesn't look like a place that will go full tyrannical anytime soon. Liechtenstein was also super nice but a foreigner can't own real estate there.

If I had more balls, I'd explore Central and South America more but I'm really afraid of the level of crime there. And to me, it doesn't really matter if it's petty crime or murders. It would be just super uncomfortable to always have to keep your guard up.

It's a shame that the US is what it is now. I think I would have loved living in the Hawaii. I only visited Oahu for a few days and enjoyed it, minus the crazy traffic and rampant homelessness. Perhaps the Big Island with its big size, incredible diversity, and low population density would have been nice.

(The distance between the patents on a related topic and the current state of affairs aside)

What are you going to do about it? How are you going to act on the information you're consuming?

There's so much you could be worried about. Why this or that? Is this your agenda or someone else's? What is the purpose of getting a daily dose of fast food infotainment and fearmongering (on both sides of the argument... this one and hundreds of others)?

Aren't we like this dog barking at cars and chasing them that wouldn't know what to do if he caught one?

@MTF wrote a great comment on this. Keep it close to you and revisit every now and then.

I'd love to see you getting out of a rut, finding your new purpose and doing some fulfilling stuff on your fast lane journey. The rest is a distraction.

What are your next steps and how can we help you with them (e.g., with finding a location independent opportunity)?

Already applying for location independent opportunities man.

That's the step im on.

Already sent a DM to Mike with my resume attached.

Got some messages from a few others that im yet to respond to as yet but will soon.

Got a telegram group going with others talking about other locations as well.

Just sharing info that's all.

I know, I've seen your comments. That's, great. Let me know if I can help in any way. I used to live in Australia and know how difficult this market is (at least in my field, bio/med/tech) due to its size and distance/time difference. But there are some great success stories too.

Just sharing info that's all.
Nothing wrong with that. We're all in this thread because we're interested. I just know how easy it is to become an info-dopamine hit seeking and sharing meme-machine.

Infodemic is the real pandemic here and information is the virus.

I'm glad you're pausing and questioning many of that too.

I've been digital nomadding for a little over 2 years, from Bulgaria, to romania, Thailand, turkey, now Ukraine.

You can easily get some 100k passports in the Carribean, you can also get entrepreneurship visa in many countries with a good immigration lawyer. Colombia, Mexico, and Argentina all have good business/startup visas for cheap that can turn into 2nd passports.

Finally there are also 1-year residence permits for 1-5K in many countries, just need to find someone who is connected to the immigration office and pay them.

Looks like Alberta Canada is the place to go:

Can someone smarter explain how he managed to get them on the technicality that SARS COV 19 wasn't isolated? Isn't that what PCR tests are for (albeit not really accurately)

UK has become ridiculous. Contact traced for another 10 days in "isolation" after a holiday while in "quarantine" - can't wait to get out there and spread this slightly more dangerous cold that I don't have. Great country - incredible how far we've come since WW2.

Yeah I won't pretend I am following any of this.

The situation can change so rapidly that my new plan is to find at least 3-4 places around the world where I have a home base set up.

This is what I've been doing for a few years. Added Mexico to that list this year. I also added an RV in the US to the list for a mobile homebase.

Currently have Latvia, US, Mexico and the RV.

I tried to convince my wife we need to buy an off the grid home with some land and she almost killed me. I think 4 was her limit....lol

Haha. If you were to buy it, where would it be? It would be cool to own a house that could at least still function well without the grid, not necessarily be off the grid.

You already have the house (RV), now you just need to find the property to park it. Maybe build a few “supporting” buildings.

RV life is way under rated. We bought an airstream RV in 2017 and have been all over the west. We have enjoyed it infinitely more than I would have ever imagined. I’d actually prefer the RV to the house most the time because it’s so simple to keep clean and no accessory tasks like lawn mowing to do.

Not exactly sure to be honest.

I've looked at countryside property in Latvia and Estonia.

For the property the idea is fully off grid: solar panels, backup propane generator, wells, septic tank, possibly hydro or wind power, natural materials for construction/renovation, at least 5 hectares, river/stream/pond on property, underground cellar for food storage, fruit trees and some garden.

Do you have solar?

We put 570W of solar panels and hard wired a 3000W inverter.

We are fully autonomous and can go around 6 days on the water supply.

I do need to upgrade the batteries though.

No idea about Latvia and Estonia but that's very hard to find in Poland because the law doesn't allow people who aren't farmers to buy land larger than 1 hectare. There are some loopholes but it isn't easy. Sometimes there are some bigger lots for sale but it's usually agricultural land and you can't build anything there.

It's usually also in the middle of other fields—no forests, rivers, streams, or anything like that—so hardly a place where you can "hide." Compared to the US, you can't really hide anywhere in most of Europe as it's hard to buy so cheaply such huge tracts of remote land. In Poland, a countryside lot of 3000 square meters is already considered big as most people buy 1200 or 1500 square meters.

270 Watt Solar with 200 ampHR lithium batteries.

I want to increase to 500-600 watts solar and add 200 more ampHR of battery.

Of course it’s not really feasible to run AC off of battery, but if I had 500ish watts of solar and 400 ampHR of battery I could go pretty much indefinitely. Everything is either 12V or propane besides the A/C and TV’s.

Not sure of the amp hours but I have two lithium ion batteries on my rv. I have 510 watts of solar. I know I told you something different @GlobalWealth but I lie or can't remember or something.

Can't run the ac as you said but can run everything else without issue. Even the washer/ dryer.

Pretty happy with the boondocking ability.

Well and septic and I could camp long term.

Anywhere w/freedom
Lemme tell you what a difference going somewhere else makes, even if it is just a little north of Dade County, especially when you find some patches of freedom. The happiest I have ever been is today seeing a restaurant full of people without masks while getting something to eat. I'm sure West FL is probably like this so it sucks to be missing out. I wonder how most of the flyover states are doing because it must be nice right now to live in those places especially since they are red states.
