Now you can tell that you gotta refuel by looking at your car and IT being sad.

What a technological marvel..

Kinda cool but not for me. I want a real steering wheel and some actual feel of the motor. This looks like driving a large “pulsing” computer mouse

Yeah, it's just a concept car that they designed after Avatar. I'm a motorsports fan and Mercedes have been dominating F1 for the past 6 years. Not surprising considering what they're able to build (this thing) but if I had to choose between this and a '77 Corvette.. I'd choose this and sell it. But I'd totally buy the Corvette after.

Come to think of, this just made me appreciate Elon Musk's work at Tesla even more. His cars have a wheel, a very futuristic interior and they can drive on their own if needed.

I am not a Mercedes fan (other than the Unimog, Sprinter and G-Wagon), but I'll take one please.

It's beautiful to look at and be fascinated by the technology used although obviously impractical and unsuitable for the current global road infrastructure. I'm sure they'll be using some of that technology in the factory soon enough for their mass production vehicles.

I think it is super cool. As a Mercedes fan, normally I like them for their older school aesthetics mixed with the newest of tech advancements. BOTH aspects really appeal to me. For some reason though, this thing is off the charts futuristic and I think it is awesome.

Looks amazing comfortable. Imagine getting out of the car after an hour long drive and feeling... rested.

Not a fan of the projections though.

I agree, the projections seem to kind of bring the car down. But still, imagine how good they are if they look this bright and detailed in broad daylight. Probably cool to look at on a night ride (and dangerous!).

Why is everything in the future handsfree? I would hate just sitting in some pod being driven around and fake squeezing some virtual projection of a button.

Because we're consumers and are aiming for comfort and automation. In a few decades when AI completely takes over the system we're going to be exterminated on the basis of us being way too many, way too polluting and dangerous for Earth's future and too irrational due to a flawed decision making primarily based on emotional bias. Perhaps not a total extermination, but a significant cull and enslavement (for creative purposes only) would definitely be on the AI's priority list.

What a gimmick, people are so preoccupied with looking futuristic they fail to see the impracticalness. I can't imagine changing "tires", what if a senor goes bad? Replacement parts? Glass get broken? 90% glass seems real safe too... Is this progress? A fun toy perhaps, but not the least bit useful or practical.

Simplicity is the language of truth; give me something analog and real.

While you're right about how impractical it is you must also understand this is a concept car and practicality is the least of their concerns. I mean it's a car that was literally only made to look like it's from Avatar. Zero other purpose. So talking about practicality for a car that purposefully neglected it is useless.

We're not failing to see how impractical it is, you're failing to see it for what it actually is.

I suppose it's personal taste, but seems like it's trying too hard NOT to be a car. A classic car is impractical for most people, but I'd take a classic every time. It comes down to what you value more in the design.

I just visited a retro car parade about a week ago and while they didn't have this Hispano-Suiza they did have quite a few cars very similar to this and I loved seeing them, it was like a time capsule from the past. A red '77 Corvette won my heart though.

Not a Mercedes fan but I cannot disagree that the car is just top notch. Aesthetics are through the roof and the whole design reallt brings the feeling of the future. Doubt that it will reach mass market but still a great project.
