Remember When you took photos and actually couldn't see them until you 1) Drove to the photo developer and got them developed 2) Wait 5 days 3) Pay for them 4) Open envelope and look at them.

Remember When you could only talk on the phone in an area where the cord could reach? I remember my mother was the awe of the neighborhood -- she had a 20 ft telephone cord and could walk around the kitchen!

Remember when . . .

-Food took longer than 3 minutes to cook?

-Phones were something only rich people had in their cars?

-Computers were something only Universities could afford, and took up entire buildings?

-Music came on flat black discs the size of a car tire?

-Coke was a fizzy fun brown soft drink?

-Your favorite movie came on only once a year, on channel 4, and they showed it at 2 am?

Remember when VCRs first came out and there was the whole war between beta and VHS?

Remember when a membership to Blockbuster video was like $100?

Remember when you could prank call people and they never knew who you were? (What do kids do nowadays at slumber parties?)

Remember when you could tell if someone was really into you by the mix tape they made you? ...And then do you remember accidentally leaving tapes in your car on a hot summer day. :(

Remember when schools didn't have armed guards or metal detectors?

Remember when only rich people had two story homes with two car garages...and two televisions?

Remember when your school made you sell those coupons books and/or candy bars and they'd present it as some sort of competition and that it was fun, but really it was the lamest thing ever? Wtf was that about?!

(For girls) Remember when you were first allowed to put on nail polish that wasn't clear? lol

:)

You were the TV remote control.

My little brother had that job, lol.

Remember the cable box channel thingy that sat on top of your TV and you had to go push a button to switch channels, and if you pushed two buttons you'd get scrambled HBO or Cinemax?

Remember when computer screens were green?

Remember when you'd have to rip the edges off the paper when trying to print from a printer and it did not come in single sheets?

Remember when there was no "Press 1 for English" because everyone had rotary phones?

Remember when you used to actually get a live person on the phone who spoke English?

Remember when the first cell phones were as big as cordless phones and had an antenna?

Remember slap bracelets, jelly shoes, jelly bracelets, and MC Hammer pants?

.... you would stop playing baseball or football in the street to watch "Gilligan's Island"

.... your mom would kick you out of the house for peace and quiet and you would not come home until dark... at the age of seven!

.... cars did not have air conditioners unless they were added aftermarket.

.... all the boys would pile into the back of the coaches truck for a ride to practice.

.... you actually had to use "hand writing"

.... you could lay down to sleep in the back windowsill of the car.

.... a neighborhood fistfight would even draw the parents as spectators.

.... running was because you had to...

.... for bio... when Fortran used a hole punch

I remember when I didn't know about this place.

I remember when life turned into a bitch, struggling to find my path, and there sometimes seemed like no place to turn.

Now I read the success stories on tough days and am fixated on building my own!

Thank You:smx9:

Remember when it was damn near impossible to sign online with AOL because of the lack of numbers.

I remember being so excited when I heard the modem finally getting a connection!

Also, being so mad when I lost connection and knew it would be a good hour of dialing to get back on!

we had a 64 chevy impala station wagon. The third seat in it faced backwards. The car had no A/C. We kids would get in the "very back" all the time. Mom would be hauling but at 70 mph, we had no seat belts, recap tires, and frequently rode with that back window rolled down, and had a blast.

I remember growing up in the late 60's that there were always broken down project cars(GTO's, road runners, camaros) in the driveways of many middle class homes in the neighborhood. I remember the cars were there but there were no young men working on them. I remember visitng neighbors houses that had shrines in the living room to the missing young men that should have been wrenching on those cars.

Good one.

How about stingray bicycles with tiger skin banana seats and high rise handle bars. Attaching playing cards to the bike so the spokes would cause them to flap so that the bike would sound real loud.

I certainly remember those.

How about upside down tricycles with extended forks? They were the home-made precurser to the big wheels. Excellent for downhill jumps as long as you had plenty of added padding. There were no soft landings with these rigs.

This might not be a reality for some quite yet, but remember when you used to have to drive to the video store to rent a movie?
