Hello everyone,
I am Jessica, MD, 30 y.o., and I have got a corporate job in Europe. I like what I do since I am involved in the study and the development of new incredible drugs. Despite this and the fact that the salary (almost 80k $) provides me a very good quality of life I feel that I could pursue different paths.

I am going to move to the US in a few months (New Jersey), taking a new role in the US headquarter of my company.

I have read both MJ's books and I have to admit they are the best books ever read about personal finance and entrepreneurship.

I am here to TAKE COURAGE: my fear is that I could not be able to be an entrepreneur, as every action I take it seems to bring me to the Slowlane path: I (just) read books, strive to get promotions, save almost the 30% of my income, invest part of it in ETF and bonds, think about 5289437 ideas without taking actions, ect...

Hope to change my attitude and do what it is necessary to realize my dream: create something really valuable that can change people's lives in better, especially considering the healthcare system.

Thanks @MJ DeMarco for this forum.

Welcome. Are you in a technical role or more of a business role in your current company in the biomedical space?

Thank you Kevin!
I would say scientific role since I am not involved in sales or marketing even if I work often with colleagues from those departments. Maybe it could be consider a technical role?

So you are a scientist?

I am in financial space so other than a small pool of math wizards who design financial products all the rest are in business roles.

I think there is huge opportunity in the biomedical space but entry barrier seems to be high. You need to have people who have spent years in graduate schools and labs in your business. That is why I was asking whether you have been doing a technical role.

We've had a lot of MDs joining lately. I like it.

I am involved in the study and the development of new incredible drugs.
Drugs for what conditions?

I would say scientific role since I am not involved in sales or marketing even if I work often with colleagues from those departments.
This is great. I love pharmacology. I think you'll add an interesting perspective to the forum.

Let me know when you're around, since I'm from New York.

I always thought Doctors and Lawyers were the highest pain professionals in the world!

Perhaps, but I'm guessing job satisfaction is not what they thought. Being a doctor can be a noble profession, but once it is entangled in corporate and government bureaucracy, it can be a pain.

Most medical facilities are run like assembly lines -- no longer interested in patient care, but in profit-care.

I study Oncology and Immunology mainly.

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it! :smile2:

When I move there I will let you know. I'd love to meet up with someone from the forum!

You know, I see quite often physicians and Health Care Professionals, in general, close to the burnout: too many things to do, too many patients to see, with a poor quality of life for them (and discomfort for the poor patients...), oppressed by the "performance" they must achieve each year: great numbers for the hospital means more money and visibility. (But this could be limited to my experience)

Anyway, it is not my situation. I realized quite soon after my graduation that I would have liked to pursue a different path, with more flexibility: I wanted to be free to study different things, work in team and move from a country to another. That's why I chose to get in a corporate job.
Now I feel like I am a bit tied-up and I wonder what I can do differently and better (despite I literally love what I do).
It happens, I guess, a moment in your life in which you realize you want to give your personal contribute rather than just be an "executor" of strategies decided by others.

Thanks @MJ DeMarco for this forum.

I'm planning to do this too.
MD here as well.

I have a product in mind, but am still testing out platforms / advertising etc at this stage. Very preliminary. Am a beginner too.

Maybe we should talk.

All this applies to me as well. Except I don't have any 'quotas' or 'performance level' I really need to achieve.

Oh, and add in the unsocialble hours.. which I'm dying from as I type this message.. only three hours of sleep last night.
