I know a lot of people on here use the Pomodoro technique, whereby you work for a period of time 30-90 minutes, then you take a 5-15 minute break.

The problem I have, is what do I do in that break that won't completely slew my attention onto something else?

So I'm wondering what do you do in your break time?

How do you bring your focus and attention back after those breaks?

What's your work-to-break-ratio sweet spot?

Mine seems to be 45/15 though for some tasks I'll run at 25/5

I'll check out the forum or maybe watch a YouTube video on a topic of interest (rather than just bounce around aimlessly).

If the task is deep work and I am 'in the zone' I tend to stop the Pomodoro when it goes off and continue working until my focus eventually lapses or the task is complete (whichever happens first).

There is no point in breaking your concentration taking a forced break if your work is flowing well. The Pomodoro technique is there to help you overcome distractions, it shouldn't become one in itself. Does that make sense?

It does make sense, I have felt myself break for the sake of breaking...

If it's super intense then 25/5 works for me, with 45/15 I find that 15 is too much and my attention drifts.

I do this (though perhaps I'm a bouncer on YT), my problem is I find it difficult to snap myself back after watching the video or browsing the forum.

I'm experimenting with playing short games of chess, though this requires high concentration as well...

The best option here is to take a short walk. No podcasts, no music, just a walk while thinking about the task at hand. This can have a profound positive effect on what you are working on due to how the brain functions while in a state of motion. I should get around to writing a thread about this.
