What can I say? I'm honestly not surprised. My high-school days were spent playing Runescape and smoking weed. I barely graduated and of course never went on to college. I've been floating from one menial manufacturing job to the next, eventually landing me right where I am today, working at Amway making $17.40/hr, living paycheck to paycheck in my parents basement and dreading everyday of my life. I've spent the past couple years pissing away money on drugs, booze, and house parties. Oh and my $600/mo car payment, because I certainly needed a cool whip to show up at these house parties right?! Wrong. All my "awesome party friends"? They're gone. Constant alcohol infused drama fights, friends knocking random girls up, and party hoes cheating on their partners left, right, and center, including my ex-girlfriend of 5 years. She's now gone too. The past 5 years of my life I have nothing to show for, it all seems like a blur. It all seems like I've been living on the sidewalk....hmmm, now where have I read that before?

So here I am. I hate manufacturing. I hate my job. I am now completely friendless. I lost 5 years to a girl who now lives in New York. I live in my parents basement. My parents hate each other and are constantly fighting. My youngest brother has down syndrome and has no friends, my parents don't interact with him, and I feel guilty every second I'm not playing with him. I hate my life.

Two months ago I ordered a book on Amazon that caught my eye. It was called "UNSCRIPTED " I devoured the entire book the day I got it, I then bought a second copy, downloaded the audible book, then ordered TMF and read that too. My perception of life has completely changed.

The only person here to blame is myself. Please don't think this post is one giant victim puke. This introduction is also serving as an outlet to myself. I am in control of my life, the choices and habits I've created for myself are what's led me here. I chose to walk the sidewalk, and now I'm choosing to walk the fast lane. I have so much to learn from this community, I'm already overwhelmed at the positive and valuable information here. I don't have much to offer yet, except my support to others embarking this journey with me. But as I read and listen, and ask THE RIGHT questions, and take ACTION, I will offer my help and share my stories of growth and failure.

At this point in my journey you could say I'm at Level 0.

My plan:

1. Get the hell out of manufacturing, and start building skills that will help me land a slowlane job making $20/hr+, working a 9-5 instead of 12 hour shifts. I'm thinking a sales job would be great because of the transferable skills for entrepreneurship.
2. Once I'm in the slowlane job, start networking my a$$ off to find people killing it in life. Toastmasters, Meetups, ect. Start surrounding myself with driven, successful people. Provide them with as much value as I can bring.
3. Get rid of my stupid $600/mo car, get a beater car and start saving as much as I can.
4. Keep hitting the gym like an animal. (thankfully, the only thing I have going for me is a well above average physique, I've always been a fitness freak.)
5. Obtain my Personal Training cert just to have something going on the side.
6. Get out of my parents house, even though I'm saving a little money they still charge me rent (family is poor), and the environment is terrible for my focus and energy.
7. Learn from this forum as much as I can about starting a business, start my own at a micro level and learn myself, and keep scaling up from there.

Thank you to everyone on this forum, I truly wish all of you the best in your journey to the Fast Lane, and I hope to give value to this community as much as they have given me.

That must have been hard to post. Awesome that you can see what is going wrong with life, and that you want to change it. Most never even get that far.

Great idea to get rid of that car. No point in having a depreciating "asset" burning a hole in your pocket as it rockets towards zero.

Awesome idea to start making enough money to get out on your own. Sounds like you are in a toxic environment and that can absolutely KILL motivation and drive. Get yourself somewhere positive where you can work on fixing you. Once you are in a better spot you can do what you can to help your brother from a place of gain, not a place of darkness. I look forward to seeing your progress.

I read alot of these intros, most people just post them then disappear into the night. I feel like like you'll be different and actually turn it around. Keep going for it and start today. Start right now.

Love the self awareness. That's a critical trait, and not something I think that can be learned.

You may be in a bad spot now, but better days are coming.

Damn that was a good intro. Literally theres no better place to be because you have nothing to lose. I think we all have our version of your story and the best part of each circumstance is that your back is against the wall and you can do anything and go anywhere.

I would give you feedback but what you outlined is the right thing to do. It's exactly what i would do.

A couple things that helped me was hanging out with like minded friends. It reinforced your mindset and levels you up. When I started a few years ago I didn't even know a millionaire. Now when I open my phone almost everyone in my recent texts is a millionaire, a girl, or family..

The other thing I would do is start a side hustle, the personal training is great but can you uber? can you sell something? Drop ship? Day trade? Figure out something to get you out of the house and making money.

Create a bank account you dont have access to and have the money from your side hustle deposited there. When you start to get some money saved up 10k~ you can use that as capital for your first opportunity.

Good luck man let me know if you need help/have questions

Get the hell out of manufacturing,
manufacturing can be highly lucrative especially if you build some skills or hone on what you already know. I mean sure you can always switch industries but do not shut one door just because of your present situation.

GPM, thank you for your words of encouragement and support. Yes, my environment is terribly toxic. It pains me to think of leaving my younger brother to live with my parents, but if I don't change, nothing will for him either. The sooner I get on the fast lane, the sooner I can bring him with me. Thank you!

The frustrating part is I've always seemed to have that self awareness. I can't tell you how many times I'd be drunk or doing drugs at a party with friends, and this weird feeling would wash over me. I'd look around at everyone and think, what the F am I doing? Something wasn't right.

Better days are coming. I've read progress reports of people that have used this forum and taken action for a year, the results can be massive. I hope this time October of next year, I will be writing my own TMF 1 year anniversary report. Thank you for your support lowtek, have a great day.

All right, keep me posted! Here's to future greatness for both of us.

Wow, that's tough that your younger brother is in that situation, too. I love your thinking of getting to the fastlane sooner so that you can take him with you.

And don't get a dry socket if you can help it! Hope you heal up nicely!

Book recommendation that will help you to see manufacturing (and by extension, all of business, in a new light): The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt. It's a super fast read and contains some really powerful concepts. That said, I vote a BIG YES to switching to a sales job.

Envision, thank you for the valuable advice! Your profile was one of the first few I started looking at on this forum when I made my account. Good idea on a side hustle apart from the PT. I will look into those ideas and learn them. You're right, I need a side hustle to get out of my house more, I need a legit reason to leave my toxic environment other than going to the grocery store, LOL. And yes, embarrassingly enough I haven't had a savings account in over a year. Everything goes into my checking, everything comes out. I have about $3000 worth of debt to pay off, and I know that will get higher once I turn in my car (it's leased and over my miles.) Pay off the debts first, then start building a separate account. Thank you man have a great day!

Definitely change your environment! Sounds like you are on the right track. Keep reading and listening to good stuff that helps your mindset and business skills develop. (Not instead of taking action, but in addition to action and while taking action). It is a way of changing your environment without even moving. It will also accelerate your eventual move. Welcome and good luck!

manufacturing is a market with hard entry, I would suggest to not close that door
  1. you have the advantage of experiences and contacts on this market, you can use them to find ways to help this market and build a business on that instead of starting over to another market
  2. you already know a lot of things that most people don't, this is your entry and if you combine it with one or two more Es you can build a profitable business
  3. sales is definitely the most important skill, but it has to build on something, if you become good at sales in the manufacturing market (other kind of people than in the consumer goods market), you'll have a unique set of skills ;)

I can relate to living with parents. I am 22 myself and I can just never seem to gain focus or adopt a healthy entrepreneurial mindset. I never wash up, clean clothes/iron or properly cook resulting in an incredibly lethargic lifestyle and a horrible self entitlement attitude. I am finally moving away next month and and I am going to completely re-wire my brain and mindset!

Good luck man, an exciting journey awaits!
